    Thank you Prof.This has made it easier to understand.Could you guide on some ITS systems that can be used in Africa?How do you rate the moderato ITS System?

      Thanks for your comments. Moderato ITS is used in Japan for controling the traffic at junctions. It is not very different from any other smart signals. It also requires sensors to read the queue length and communicate with traffic lights.
      Implemetation of ITS is very site specific. You need to understand the requirement and then design the ITS accordingly. You can certainly try some component of ITS in SA, but study the traffic first and then design the system.

      That is great. ITS is basically combination of computer engineering, Electronics and Civil Engineering. See the possibilities in your college and then decide on the topic. You can take a problem on Public Transportation Information System for a corridor and develop algorithm for real time information on bus arrival and departure at a bus stop. There can be many other problems as well.
