      In 1991 my father died in a similar plane that was designed by a group of engineers employed in the aviation industry of the former Yugoslavia, later it turned out that the plane was produced illegally and did not pass the necessary tests and the blame for the crash of the plane was attributed to my father because the witnesses of the last flight were the very designers of the aircraft who gave a statement that my father made a mistake in the flight, my father was a captain i JAT and he flew for a 14 years until his death and he was also a flight instructor.

    2-seater aircraft are NOT FAR103 legal ultralights. Nor is any aircraft with an empty weight above 254 pounds. FAR103 regs say; single seat, empty weight of 254Lbs max (excluding floats & safety devices), max fuel capacity of 5 gallons, max speed @ full throttle of 55 knots, max power-off stall speed of 24 knots. Anything outside of those requirements is a "light sport" aircraft and requires - at a minimum - a light-sport pilot certificate, which requires - at a minimum - 20 hours of training, along with an FAA written exam, and an FAA approved flight exam. And a Light Sport aircraft must be registered and have an condition inspection done annually... by a FAA recognized A&P (or holder of an Light Sport Repairmen Certificate with either a maintenance or inspection rating).
    Also, the light-sport license has other restrictions; such single, piston engine; fixed gear; gross take-off weight of 1320Lbs; day-VFR flying only; max seating of 2; and a catagory/class rating. Which is initally confined to the catagory & class of plane you took your check-ride in. Additional ratings (such as sea-plane, tailwheel, etc.) can be obtained, with additional training and - I believe - another check-ride in that type of plane.

      @@masjuggalo In the US the weight restriction - for a Part 103 legal ultralight - specifies the empty weight at 254Lbs max. The gross weight is not an FAA restriction and is determined by the aircraft manufacturer.

    I bought my first airplane for $38 off ebay, my second one for $99 off of Barnstormers, and my third one I got free. I got offered a forth one free but I passed on it.
    Here's my advice if you look to the sky and want to fly -- forget airplanes. They won't get you flying, and if they do, it's both terrifying and mindblowingly boring at the same time. You'll be disappointed. If you want the most fun and to fly for the most cheap, any place and any time of day with zero cost, simulators are the way to go. If you really want to, you can then move over to RC and FPV, but those are one step down from being as fun as a simulator. But the reality with FPV is, you don't need to risk your neck, or your spine, or buy a hanger, or grade a runway, or sit in a cockpit any more to enjoy flying. You can carry your airplane now in your hand and keep both feet safe on the ground. Your eyeballs get to go up in the sky, and you can do all the dangerous aerobatics you want.
    So my advice to all wannabe pilots... forget airplanes. They are the worst way to fly.
    In the beginning you think, well, I want to fly, so first I need an airplane. I don't have one, and to buy them is too expensive, so I have to build one. You'll find that 9 out of 10 times that leads to a dead in road and for everyone who suceeds and finishes it, there are 9 others that don't. It's time consuming, complicated, expensive, space consuming, labor intensive, dangerous, and just just the wrong worst way to go about things. You would actually be better off to learn how to fly first. Those who start off building a plane first, usually have the plane take up so much of their attention to get it finished, that they never once think much of learning to fly, and promptly wreck it on the first flight attempt. Or soon thereafter.
    Get yourself a good simulator setup, and if after a year of flying that you're not bored with it all, and you got money burning a hole in your pocket, get into FPV.

      I am a giant scale Radio Control aircraft modeler with extensive experience of 24 years. I decided to start flying real planes, I bought lessons and the instructor was informed that I was flying RC models.
      In the first hour, the instructor allowed me to land because he saw that I was in control of the plane, although it didn't work out perfectly, in the second hour I landed 100% on my own.
      Habits and knowledge about the mechanics of flying RC models resulted in real aviation. Currently, I have flown 6 hours in a Cessna 152 and you may not believe me, I land without any problems even with a crosswind. I don't see any reason why I shouldn't get on an ultralight plane in the 115kg category now. I'm even looking for one to buy :-)
      Of course, I confirm that a person from the "street" who has no idea about flight mechanics and who has not flown on his own before will most likely crash, and hopefully without major injuries to himself and other people.
      Every future pilot in this category should be required to fly a minimum of 10 hours in a small light aircraft and this should be included in the law.
      In my flying club they say that the legislator's intention was to make this unlicensed category for former pilots who no longer meet the health conditions and not for new learners, you can partially agree with that.

    They weren't counting the extra weight of flotation because it is considered a safety feature and two seater's were another safety bonus because it makes instruction possible ..
    I crash landed a Challenger when the horizontal stabilizer snapped and folded over and stuck in the rudder . The plane had a ballistic chute however it had the pneumatic rocket deployment but it hadn't been serviced in years so I decided that if it were to go off half cocked it might wrap up around the plane at the rate things were going and destroy what little control I had left of the plane so I kept working against the succession of stalls and timed it so that the last stall wouldn't be straight down to the ground, I hate that ,, and we crawled out of the wreckage unscathed ....

That Rotax engine is not 40HP, but rather 100 HP. 73 MPH and 12 gallons of gas are certainly not Part 103 complient. Quicksilver: Nope - no 2 seats are allowed any more. While the Aerolote 103 (one-oh-three, not one hunderd and three) can be an ultralight, but not at 275 lbs and exceeding the max speed of 63.25 mph. Kolb Firefly - max speed of 70mph? Too fast! CGS Hawk - too heavy and no 2 seats here.

    • @Mikexxx531
      @Mikexxx531 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 150 requires annuals, is subject to ADs, and the pilot needs to be licensed with a current BFR. I think it now qualifies for LSA, but don't quote me on that. If it doesn't, then you need a medical or equivalent. If you can stay OK with the FAA after all that, why not, and you get to carry a passenger. With a part 103 ultralight, you take all the risk and save all the money. The other thing is that ultralights take only a few hundred feet at most, and the 150 needs more. Both should be hangared if they're to last and stay safe from vandalism.

    a two seater is not an ultralight. You will need to have a private pilot's license to fly them. It might be classed as a "light sport" plane, but it's not a FAR103 ultralight. A FAR103 ultralight is limited to the following:
    (a) Is used or intended to be used for manned operation in the air by a single occupant;
    (b) Is used or intended to be used for recreation or sport purposes only;
    (c) Does not have any U.S. or foreign airworthiness certificate; and
    (d) If unpowered, weighs less than 155 pounds; or
    (e) If powered:
    (1) Weighs less than 254 pounds empty weight, excluding floats and safety devices which are intended for deployment in a potentially catastrophic situation;
    (2) Has a fuel capacity not exceeding 5 U.S. gallons;
    (3) Is not capable of more than 55 knots calibrated airspeed at full power in level flight; and
    (4) Has a power-off stall speed which does not exceed 24 knots calibrated airspeed.
    Anything else is and aircraft that requires registration and a private pilots license to fly.
    Just because an aircraft looks like an ultralight doesn't mean it is a legal ultralight.

      That's as wrong as the information in this video. As a licensed wildlife control agent in the state of Virginia, I know for a fact if licensing wasn't required then there would be way too many people just willy-nilly killing wildlife. That's just one example. There's a million more. Try again.

    Incredibly irresponsible video giving false and incorrect information bot in the video and in the description. The creator of this content could have spent a bit of time actually gathering the correct info on the planes featured. In description it reads “all the planes featured here are 103 compliant.” Line maybe 2 of these planes are. The $900 thumbnail is just plain malicious misleading to get clicks. Shame on you!

    I'm not a pilot & I'd appreciate GREATLY if the Title of a Video meant something to the creator of the video? Who really knows just
    how hard they are to fly..... that's a toss up & I'd never hold you to this being truthful b/c that's not important. What is of the most
    importance to Your Video Title is that No License is required. That's not some little oversight on your part if you care about how
    we think of you? 2 Seat Planes, more than 5 gallon fuel tanks, and other considerations are of the utmost of importance to your
    channel being considered reliable. I'm glad you're good at doing videos but consider not stretching the truth on the Title because
    it can be misconceived as ignorance or out -n- out LYing just to get views? I'm saying do your best to label it correctly, you didn't
    do well on this Title & it's important to me. peace man

    When I was very young was nice that these aircraft didn't needed a licence to fly it. Now I'm a 50 year old pilot, and think it's criminal to allow people to fly one of these things without training and a license. You can easily kill yourself or kill others if you are not trained properly
