- www.jimdunlop.com A side by side comparison of the two large box Fuzzface from Dunlop saluting the Man....Jimi Hendrix. The new Band of Gypsies fuzz compared to the blue Hendrix Fuzzface of a few years back. There are very cool differences between the two.
I used my www.mjtagedfinishes.com MJT relic Stratocaster with www.jgcpickups.com JGC Custom Wound pickups, and the mighty tight www.drzamps.com Dr Z Zwreck combo. Shoutou to my buds at www.eqcable.com EQ Cables, and www.thedivinenoise.com Divine Noise cables of love. Yep! - เพลง
NEW BOOTS of HAIRY FUNKNESS
Gearmandude! Great demo as always! Thanks
Exactly the video I needed as I am considering getting of of those! Never been a huge fan of the BOG sound over the studio records sound, but maybe the tone of red one is growing a little bit more on me. But maybe need them both as you say at the end!
First off I love the bog fuzz face. Second off I love your choice in outro song. Respect.
Sweet vid , I agree that the blue is a little more compressed sounding . both great pedals nice job
I have both of these (in full size) and I love them both the same. With the blue one I like that there's a bit more control with guitar's volume knob. With the BOG model,it starts to get dirty just after 3 on my guitars volume but I love how it really bites and I can use my wah in front of it with no oscillation. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either of these.
Love the fuzzy slippers
2:11 man the blue one has AWESOME nice clean up!!
Blue = axis and electric ladyland
Red = BOG, Woodstock and Berkeley
so if im trying to cop the winterland sound i should get the blue one?
whats BOG?
Jay Saulnier Band of Gypsys
haloskater24 the red
@@haloskater24 no the blue one is more 1970's fuzz
Blue with the guitar volume rolled back is very Hendrix-y.
Correction, Jimmy Cage:
Red germanium: Experienced and Axis
Blue silicon: Ladyland and Woodstock
Band of Gypsies: Machine Gun and everything with the BOG.
peace.
I think the blue was used on axis
I wont say who you are Gearmanndude , because i use to know you very well you worked at a Guitar Store in Louisville, KY. Keep up the cool videos dude. Later!
I would love to hear the Gypsy fuzz through an Octavio.Rock on Gear Man Dude!
the BoG FF is an octavia without the octaver effect. glad I looked up before I bought that on craigslist
Both pedals on same time all the time!
Great demo man! I was hoping to like BOG fuzz but sounds a bit muddy and "out of control".. the regular fuzz face has this really nice clarity. Is this how they sound to you?
Correction, Jimmy Cage:
Red Germanium - Are you experienced and Axis
Blue Silicon - Woodstock and Electric Ladyland
Band of Gypsies - Machine Gun and everything w the Band of Gypsies.
This Hendrix Fuzz Face, sounds great most of ones I've checked out are pretty ice picky and don't clean up well, what year is that?
It's strange, because my favorite Hendrix tone is on the BOG album.
But this red fuzz face doesn't sound like it. Too dark and muddy, at least for me.
If I had to choose between these too, I'd pick the blue one! Thanks!
insane sustain
nice shoes
Nice shoes Jack lol ,,they are both good and hard choice unless you buy em both
Lovely slippers yo
I just bought the red one. I honestly like it a more than the blue one. Either that or I'm just in denial.................... but aside from that, there's a surplus of the blue ones and only a limited number of the red ones. So about 50 years from now (by the way I'm only 13 years old) one of those red ones will probably be worth quite a bit more than the blue ones.
hope you still have it because they're worth more than $250 now
@Andy Boldry lol happy to report I still have mine. Bought it new for $150 from Sweetwater. Also got one of the copper Bonamassa fuzz faces for $250 on reverb about a year ago. I’m now 18 and they’re staying with me for a looong time. Keep yours!!
@@garrettfry123456789 now theyve made a mini band of gypsys one for around 129$ you might get that too, its same red with white knobs
Now they are over $500…
Thanks, I think I'll stick with the Blue.
those slippers are fucking perfect.
the blue one definitely won, it's brighter and sustains forever
The heck with the pedal I want some slippers like those, brah!
The shag slippers do rock
I have both
Full size or mini you get the exact same results I have both
Yeti...?
hey do you think the new one hand of gypsies has different tone little less so it would mix better with Octavia and vibe pedals?? I have heard that Dunlap as some freq response issues when you mix the fuzz with Octavia some say they sound bad together or don't always mix well .maybe a comparison used with Octavia thanks
band
Not sure why but I'm liking the blue one better.
If you're playing with a band, imho, the blue will cut through better because of a stronger midrange and less low end.
This video justifies having both.
Nice sustainnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Bernd Schuller h6
I use the fuzz moo pedal . It sounds amazing and it’s only around $50
To my ancient ears the Band of Gypsys unit seems to have a little less high-end but also a bit ballsier in the upper mid-range. I'm not sure if these are true bypass so that could be a consequence of cabling order, but the Band of Gypsies unit still seems to be ballsier and possibly more "Hendrixy". Anyway, with a gun to my head I'd take the BOG unit.
WHAT ARE THOSE
BLUE
blue
Why do people in pedal videos always have really cool shoes
Think about it for a sec
The blue is the best :D!
All this time I thought it could've been Jack Black. now I know it's the Abdominal Snowman. :)
Empire strikes back, dude.
Great
Been great if you ran the fuzzface pedals through a Marshall
Brent Harmon I have the red Fuzz Face and I run it into my Marshall DSL40c and it sounds incredible through the Marshall amps.
Chewie!
Chewbecca, is that you?
any reason why I couldn't use this on a bass?
+Edward Daniell I use guitar overdrive pedals on my bass all the time. They sound great. In fact, I use all effects on my bass and it sounds awesome. I like chorus, delay and reverb on my bass. For distortion I run the whole gamut; Tubescreamer, MXR Dist + , BD-2 Blues Driver, OD-2, OD-1, DS-1, Guvnor, Rat, Big Muff, Fuzz Face, etc. Even a Metal Zone. I have no idea why they make separate bass pedals.
what is the song you are playing at 1:40, can't think of it
Who Knows
This IS Jack Black!! You cannot kill the METAL!!!
Chewbacca diggin' some fuzz....😎 😁
I also play bear foot 😂
I have an original late 80s Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face. These two pedals, unfortunately, sound nothing like the real thing. They just don't make fuzz pedals like they used to.
Right on , but I do love my original London Fuzz (in the big box) with bias control.
The Red one Wins!!!!!

That’s Jack blacks voice 110%
It's been common knowledge for a long time that he is not jack black
Great slippers! Look like Bigfoot.
You sound like Jack Black lol
Red is mud
This video was presented by a blond hair Sasquatch. Look at his feet ! :D
Bands of gypsies is the better sounding by far
blue sounds brighter
If you demo these pedals without showing how they react to the change in volume of the guitar, without showing the glassy, I think you understand very little about fuzz, my friend!
2:10 🤔
You need an overdrive sound before you can use the Fuzzpedal. Thats the real Hendrix sound. Otherwise you will get a thin sound with no power.
I must not be a fuzz aficionado, they sound the same to me.
Deaf?
Sasquatch!
Honestly I don’t hear a difference
why does it sound so awful
any reason why I couldn't use this on a bass?
I dont think there are any, but im not a specialist so dont quote me.
