I’ve cried watching this. I love you mum.. hearing you speak about this story reminds me that you’re just human. You’re just a girl 😭 experiencing life for the first time. And I’m sorry for the times that I have held you to a standard that was unfair and rigid. Thank you for doing the best you could for us. I love you so so much. ❤️
I met this wonderful woman of God, when I joined Teen Challenge an alcoholic and homeless for 4 years, I went to the Nakuru campus. I finished the program on Oct 22, 2019. I want to honor her and her team for guiding me to Christ. Am now free from addiction because of Jesus Christ, thank you so much Emily, and may you be abundantly blessed by our Heavenly Father, His Son, and His Spirit 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Finally, we Give All the Glory and Honour to our Heavenly Father, His Son the Risen King and Messiah, and also His Spirit, forever and ever.
It's how she still speaks lovingly of the husband, hasnt even referred to him as ex-husband. She is not even bitter, this is what the grace of God does. Your daughters are blessed to have you. ❤
I can only imagine how much better she would look if she hadn't had all that stress in her life. Stress is damaging, in 4 years, I look 15 years older because of all the stress I've been dealing with
I love this women she really helped me with my bro at team challenge rehab,we didn't have money but you took my bro in and u were patient with us till we got the money and paid, mama u have golden heart and may God bless u and add u more I love u big❤
Been asking myself why people stay in such marriages until I stayed in a bad workplace but couldn't leave coz of so many what ifs...how will I pay bills? what if my next job is worse? when will I secure another job? But all in all leaving a place that you are not respected and appreciated takes courage and strength..but its the best choice
Take away,"I am my own limiting factor" It pains me coz have not used any potential in me to make the world a better place Lord equip me to stand in my position before it's too late
Iynn thank you very very much for this interview im at peace may God help me as im on my way to let go my 38 yrs it has never been easy and may God help my children and im trusting God for my sons restoration from drugs, . Mama you have given me hope.
This is a whole sermon! My goodness, I feel healed. So many gems. I kept pausing and pondering and taking screenshots and then repeating some parts! Pure gold. Thank you mama Emily and Lynn for such phenomenal stories.
Noooo waaay mama is 62!! She looks amazing and beautiful❤❤ And her parents look energetic, glory to God❤. Hi dear Lynn, sasa let me listen to this story.
I know your story very well, and I am glad that Dorah has come out of the addiction. Glory to God. I taught Dora in one of the international schools. You were a very prayerful woman. I noticed this when I used to come to your house in Galleria to tutor Dora. I watched with empathy the emotional struggles you had and the extent of addiction the dad was in every morning I came. There is power in Prayer. Keep praying for Dr.Obwaka, God will answer your prayers.
Rev Emily Obwaka,a very humble lady, very prayerful and spirit filled,i just love everything about her, she's amazing! she's a blessing to Citam Woodley 🤗
Beautiful. My Elder, you are wise. I have a take home, I did not cause it, I cannot control it and I cannot cure it. We must allow our loved ones to reap the consequence of their actions. Deep!
She really has inspired my faith in God! There is NOTHING that can compare to knowing Him! To Lynn, I have prayed for God to continue to establish you and for you to continue to be rooted in Him as you are. You are serving an entire generation with your obedience and service. I thank God for giving you to us!
Oh wow!!! I have listened to many many LNN shows but this one.. OMG!! This is a binge worthy show.. Totally inspirational, educative & very very divinely orchestrated. A very timely piece for me . Thank you mum..
She is really radiating Christ. You can tell she has an intimate relationship with christ. Her speech and her physical appearance attests. The psalmist was right.
Mama Murugi ❤. She is so beautiful, eloquent and soft spoken. She looks 40😊. I can't imagine having a bad marriage and dealing with a child deep in addiction 😢. But who is God, He is clearly working in Dora and she is healed and restored.
Lynn thank you for this interview. This family is such a blessing. One day I hope you come to Burundi and hear our stories too. I want to have one with my mother and mend our relationship on your show to help other mother/daughter relationship heal. I will pray so that you can come to Burundi 🇧🇮
Never Stay in abuse for the " children sakes" . It is wrong. Children always end up with all kinds of problems emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually
My darling Auntie. I have seen you live this out firsthand, and what a blessing! You were an encouragement in my own personal struggles. Your courage is contagious. Your following your God-given purpose is contagious. Your passion for your family is contagious. You are the light of the world. Shine bright Auntie! God bless you abundantly 💗
Wonderful conversation by Dr. Emily Obwaka aka Mama Murugi. A godly woman & minister adorned with Christ's beauty. Thanks for sharing & encouraging us.
I’ve listened to this story and I am just in tears she stayed there for that long. I feel bad for the husband because I was married to addict. I thought I had healed but I’m crying remembering what I went through. Stay strong mum so proud of you
I hope young people pay attention to this woman. You can never turn back time. My sister and her husband are both very educated and have always had good jobs that have taken them around the world. But they sacrificed time together and with their kids. They've been married for almost 30 years, but they've only lived under the same roof for a total of 4 or five years. Their children went to prestigious boarding schools in Kenya and abroad but during the holidays they would be home with nannies or our mom or siblings . The impact on their kids is just unfolding. I believe that children need us more than they need things. My parents have been gone for many years but the only thing I remember is the time's we spent together, not the nice clothes or things they gave me. I try to invest as much time on my daughter as possible, its the one thing I'll never regret.
You have opened my eyes. I am parenting teens. I will definitely ensure the next 4 yrs I remain here with them even if it means living a slightly different standard of life than what I am used to.
@@MaureenOkore And please pay attention to your teens. Listen to them, hear what they need rather than just leading them the way you want. Ask them for opinions on things regarding their life, even if you will ultimately provide leadership in the path they take. I am still bitter at my parents for ignoring me 16 to 19 years ago, when I wanted them to just pay attention to what I was saying. I saw them invest time and money in their jobs, farming, and their education, but ignored my needs, yet prioritising those of my siblings. Every child matters, even the most brilliant and strongest one in the family. May God lead you.
my take home is minute 36 and 39, kindly take a listen, this lady is truly blessed, thanks for sharing the powerful word of counsel . really blessed and encouraged.
Watching this powerful message while in the washroom in middle east, no matter the situation or the place iam lazima i listen to this wonderful interview and testimony

I have loved this interview, so open, so full of hope. Thanks Dr. Emily Obwaka for your opennes. It's never over till the very end. You have inspired me.
it is good to know someone's past before judging them. I remember an episode on TMI where both Murugi and Lydia were discussing their relationships with their dads' and some people found it so disrespectful. Allow people to express their traumas and feelings, it is good for mental health.
My takeaways 1. Allow people to live the life they have chosen 2. Allow people to reap the consequences of their actions 3. Do not die in an abusive home trying to save your marriage 4. Things dont go wrong, they start wrong. 5. Forgivess doesn't mean getting back together 6. Seek forgiveness from your children when you fail.
Alot of these issues stem from being co-dependent. African families are notoriously codependant and associate it with love and nurturing but it is a toxic trait that stifles emotional and psychological well-being!
This is so so inspiring,my inner child has been healed a little more after watching this. Dr Obwaka is so so beautiful, her gracious aura is mind blowing!!! Thank you Lynn for the LNN Show 🙌❤
Having lost someone so close to me through alcohol addiction drained me and changed my mindset. Its so hard to help someone, rehabilitate them, watch them relapse, watch them sink deeper, watch them not eat to a point of seeing them hallucinate and watch them die as they wished is traumatic. Its so hard to help soneone who has given up. Im so glad your daughter healed because the self blame and i wish i could have done more eats the ones left behind like a plague
Pole my sister. I can totally relate. My ex and dad to my daughter was an alcoholic, I tried to help but couldn't save him. He later developed other health issues related to alcoholism. He passed away 2 weeks ago. I'm in so much pain, wondering what I could have done differently so he could be here to see his daughter grow. It's a tough journey 😢

I sincerely love these conversations. Being open, authentic and led by God. I have loved Madam Emily especially in days she used to be on Hopefm. God continue leading us all and we should also be very awake when following Him.
Before i even listened to her, i thought she was a woman of substance, integrity and so patient and also so beautiful. She Looks really friendly and easy to approach. God bless... you are doing an amazing job.❤
I can relate, especially on loving someone who continues to walk on self destructive paths, addiction and abuse ... I haven't seen my daughter for more than two weeks now, I have no idea where she is and it has become a trend now ... The pain, the guilt and the fear is depleting. Thank you for this show and to Emily for being vulnerable and giving those of us in such situations hope. I know one day, the sun will rise again and my daughter will be restored 😢
Listening to you has made me understand the value of being a present parent in my only child's life. Travelling will come later once have been present parent in modelling my childs character and values
Wow! Mrs Emily Obwaka, @62(my age mate) you look absolutely amazing and incredibly purposeful. I worked with your hubby them days abd I can attest, at the time I knew him at the ministry of Health, I did respect and appreciated his humility. Maybe you were under the same ministry in early 80s. You have brought up and raised not only beautiful , but equally phenomenal. God's grace has been sufficient for your your family. That's the simplest way I can put it. I affirm you Mum.
Am in tear 😢grew up watching my mom find comfort in alcohol she's in her late 40s she's at a point wea she has lost control tried to be there but it keeps on pinning me to the ground av prayed for her still breaks me soo much seing her in such condition but personally av tried all I could it pains me aloot i pray that God will deliver n restore her thank you lynn for this space may God bless all mothers out there and happy mother's day❤❤
When i grow up i want to be Email Njoki❤...you such an inspiration,a mentor and a mother anyone could wish to have.I thank heavens for incubating and seeing it worthy for you being here today
Gorgeous, beautiful inside out& so much in control of her situations! To more grace, more favor to Mama as to reach out to her significant other esp as we celebrate mothers Day...We need our Dad in this warmth❤
Ooh this mama is so so beautiful so eloquent and above all a lover of God. I love the way she’s understanding addiction but trusting God for change even as she separates for safety and sanity
Such a wonderful graceful, gracious woman! The vulnerability with which Emily shares her tribulations yet with a lot of grace and love even for her husband... wueeeh! May God restore and bless her heart and family.
Am shocked ,I listened to your family testimony years back on hope FM 😢 And Mr obwaka beside you has a changed man ,it was a powerful testimony on how God has delivered him and he talked so highly of you,he was even planning to get into politics😢 I even used to pray for my marriage using you like an example of if God can do for you ,He can do for me too Am so sorry pastor Emily you have seen hell on earth But we thank the lord He saved your daughters May God protect them for your sake You braved every Tuesday to answer our questions and pray for us yet your own life was a mess full of pain This makes me think that we should be kid to everyone out here coz wee people are going through alot behind closed doors 🫂
Wow very inspiring story. I know Emily but didn't know many details of her life eg I'm a dentist and had no idea she was one too. I see myself in her story...she is a beacon of light and inspiration to many. I want to get in the same room with her and have a conversation. Thanks Lynn for your platform. You're the best
Thank you for sharing this with us.... watching from Uganda and this makes me think of my mum....she has endured alot and still is....I hope to one day be like her or even more than her❤
I was completely transformed by mum preaching. I follow her closely. She was so open on addiction .I felt a sense of understanding and through her, I was able to assist my brother transform when everyone gave up on him. He is 6 months sober through a program by Solom Kilanga - GLC
Pertinent, relevant conversation with an authentic guest! The interview was very informative and practical. Good job, Lynn. Eh, Lynn, your hair looks naturally good and full.
I love her strength, grace and authenticity to share the intimate part of her life with so much positivity and inspiration!! I enjoyed listening and watching her.. Her confidence and poise just trigger hope. Love and faith! Fantastic

Such a wonderful graceful, gracious woman! The vulnerability with which Emily shares her tribulations yet with a lot of grace and love even for her husband... wueeeh! May God restore and bless her heart and family.
Am shocked ,I listened to your family testimony years back on hope FM 😢
And Mr obwaka beside you has a changed man ,it was a powerful testimony on how God has delivered him and he talked so highly of you,he was even planning to get into politics😢
I even used to pray for my marriage using you like an example of if God can do for you ,He can do for me too
Am so sorry pastor Emily you have seen hell on earth
But we thank the lord He saved your daughters
May God protect them for your sake
