I've loved the multidimensional nature of this conversation - intellectual yet very personal - and such a rich panel bringing their varied views and standpoints. An important and critical topic indeed!! 👏 👏
This was an amazing conversation and the part you talked about the privilege of having someone to take care of you especially for single moms...it's quite powerful. I healed very first I praise God for that coz later after my best friend had to go back to her daily job i was able to care for myself and the baby. All said and done, support system during the first two three weeks it's very important.
An amazing conversation👏👏 I laboured for 2 days before going for CS simply because there was no scan or rather it was expensive to know my baby was breech

Our country has a lot of money but Ruto and his friends have stolen all public resources. We truly need to vote better and hold our leaders accountable and hopefully have different MCH outcomes in the near future. Thanks for the amazing perspectives
It's so sad that by next year with this SHA thing many women will be delivering in homes like long ago leading to worse maternal health conditions. I work in a hospital and the numbers are already low both in antennal and in maternity. Kambua continues with the sensitization we truly need it

Hi I am watching from Kurkum, lasamis , Marsabit county. We are grateful for community health promoters.... They are the only medic our women have access to. My desire is that our country will take care of the mental health of our medic, reporters, CHP etc before we point 👉 on our nurses in public hospital.... Let's listen to their story too. None of them were born insensitive...... Hopelessness and desire to save lives is what makes that nurse...😢😢😢
Did i tell you i went into labour like a lawyer cos of what i had read about doctors being insensitive. When i felt i was tired and they brought pitocin, i told them not to induce me. They were shocked i knew about it . I self advocated for cs and when they did it they noticed my baby head couldn't fit on my pelvis hence it could have been fatal. Please tell laides to self advocate and look for empathetic doctors cos wueh. 💖
My experience giving birth in a public hospital ,made me swear I wanna work harder for money to afford a private one ,talk about how abusive nurses are the trauma itself is not worth it😢6yrs down the line I do not think of getting another one soon
I was w lo wondering when are you doing the next being Kambua episode. I thank God for the great job you are doing I'm learning this conversation is very profound the panelists are so avast with knowledge and compassion.
You are doing well. I hope as a society we keep learning. Most mothers losing their lives and/or those of their babies are bullied and criticized in their presence (if lucky to be alive) of how they went through it because of being public with the pregnancy.
Hapo kwa dignified birth is very close to my heart , what i went through three yrs ago having my baby left traumatized , after being induced i went through horrific pain and having to stitched three hours later , they were coming checking then saying ' sasa nani atashona huyu ,, ameraruka!! Oh such a powerful discussion… having 3 children and having gone through a miscarriage some 6 yrs ago.. I can say maternal health is vital and very important. My last child who is just few weeks old I had the privilege of going to a very good hospital in Dubai. For the first time I felt I would not make it. My heart goes out to women who can’t be able to get this vital treatment. It was an emergency and I thank God that in Dubai they treat you first before they ask for money and I think all that was very important.
@@kambua ooh ok. you always reply to me on all socials. I hope you know that now we're friends 😁 also, thank you for what you're doing for Baby Kiama❤️
Kambua your why hit me so much. I have listened to every podcast but this hit me every time. Why are women losing their babies kept in the same room? That's a whole level of trauma. Some day I will share my story. Until then, we keep hoping.
There is a narrative that needs to be introduced - PRECONCEPTION CARE.....care for the woman anticipating/pregnancy esp for 1. women who have known medical conditions either born with or acquired, that worsen with pregnancy putting the life of the mother in danger eg , known diabetic, hypertensive, heart dz, sickle cell disease etc 2. women who had a previous bad outcome in a prior pregnancy, still birth, miscarriage, women who have had surgery even prior uneventful CS. 3. women who had a difficult pregnancy. Ideally these women should not get pregnant before "permission" from their healthcare providers. PREGNANCY ISSUES TEND TO RECUR IN SUBSEQUESNT PREGNANCIES. So what we doing is counselling women about the next pregnancy akiwa na current pregnant if she has a problem or had a problem. As your guest has said " they dont know because we are also not telling them. Asante
