Nice to see a "normal" commentary about the recent events. It seems that so many people do not fully understand the implications and do not know the bond that the girls have with each other, so they jump into some conclusions that are far from reality (or reference other groups that cannot be compared because Mamamoo's circumstances are so different). It's very important to take into account the fact that all 4 of them are so strong as soloists and it only makes sense that they explore their potential to the fullest. They have different tastes, talents, interests, and a single company can rarely offer this, even if RBW really gave them artistic freedom. I'm extremely excited about the future and the projects Wheein will be involved with, to witness her growth as a person and as an artist. The happier they are in their individual careers, the happier they will be as a group and this will only lead to even more success and greater heights.
I did except Wheein to be the first one to leave the company and I'm glad she made a decision that is in her favour even though my MooMoo/WheeSa heart is slightly hurt. Wheein has a lot more to offer and I wish to see her shine the brightest in her career. She's my UB and I love her a little too much. MAMAMOO will always be MAMAMOO as you said, their bond is so strong and precious.
Yes you've summed up the situation perfectly. I personally also was expecting it and honestly have zero issue with the way things unfolded, the girls chose what made them the most comfortable and we're still gonna get mamamoo content and mamamoo solos for the next 2.5 years so let's just enjoy this second chance we got to spend a few more years with them and we will see how things go after that.
Yes, I think many of us also suspected that she might not resign with RBW, especially as the months kept passing, I can’t say I wasn’t a little sad when I heard the news but 2.5 more years of Mamamoo guaranteed is amazing. I’m sure this is a decision that was made after a lot of time and contemplation, and to see Wheein so happy and confident in the special interview for WAWN, and the girls in general having so much fun in the behind the scenes and live presentations makes me feel really excited for whatever the future holds. Also honestly, now that we know this, Redd truly feels like a special gift she made for us Moomoos. I remember how in her interviews she kept mentioning that while creating the album she had thought a lot about what Moomoos always asked from her. We love her dancing so her title track and Trash both got coreography, we love her soft voice so she gave us Butterfly and No Thanks (also a song that has been requested since she performed it live that one time at a concert), she finally recorded Ohoo, which has been so long in the drafts, and she even wrote us Springtime. I’m really happy that she got to do all of that before leaving the company. At the end of the day like you said, Mamamoo is such a special group and the seven years (plus what’s yet to come) worth of content and music is something that will live on forever. 💕
I really like how there is almost no big drama around this news. Most of the comments I read are fine with it and supportive with Wheein (at least the parts of the internet I see, don't know how it is elsewhere). I don't know how deliberate it was, but I think RBW and Wheein did a good job in their "expectation management". First Redd, Wheein talking about how much she enjoys promoting solo. And especially the watercolor. Looking back at the lyrics it hits different, it's pure forshadowing and explains her state of mind so perfectly. It leaves almost zero room for any kind of toxic speculation. And then WAWN with its vibe of uncertainty and farewell. Everyone must have anticipated some kind of change. So many idol groups disband out of nowhere because of some scandal or disput or they just fade away without any closure. And listening to their old songs later it's hard to enjoy to them without feeling some kind of bitterness. This is completly different. This is about a women who learned how to be confident in her own value and who wants to move forward without being forced to break up with her past :)
I also had the same gut feeling like you did. I’m excited for what they have in store for us for the next 2,5 years! Also very excited btw for Onewe’s comeback in a few days🥰
Completely out of words to explain how good they are and how much I ABSOTIVELY LOVE them. Just @$^%#@$%%#@$%%#@$%%. Damn, Sesang-e Sesang-e.......🔥👑🔥👑🔥👑🔥👑. Strong hand with four ACES... Always bet on Mamamoo......
I think (and secretly wish) that wheein will leave the idol life, only do a comeback or two a year with MMM, while trying new things like becoming a visual artist, painter or maybe a photographer....and eventually open her own gallery. I feel that would be Wheein's Happily Ever After.
Me too. . .I also predicted that wheein will leave rbw, back in time wheein expressed that sometimes she felt her members were more recognized than her, she somehow felt small. . .rbw did try their best for wheein but I guess she wanted to grow and known more as an artist doing her kinda of music
The lyrics of WAW hit a bit differently now, knowing that Wheein is leaving RBW :/ Regardless, Mr. Ambiguous is such a great debut song since it's not just "the song they debuted with" but it's almost like "the theme song of Mamamoo", and to hear it again even after 7 years just shows how timeless it is :')
Yeah, I also would’ve been way more surprised if she resigned - I wouldn’t be even be surprised if she doesn’t sign anywhere else for a while. From the bts of Redd it seemed like she had a lot of creative control and gained a lot of confidence, but the pressure and rushed timeframe made it miserable. I’d wager she wants to find a more relaxed creative environment, though I could be talking out my butt too haha. But more Mamamoo for a few years yet, even if it’s probably at a much slower pace. Yay!
Thank you for your reaction as always. I will cherish the next 2 and half years and we will see after that. Does anyone know the significance of the Unicef logo? Are the rings part of that? Are they donating proceeds to Unicef?
@@ELmayberry that's a thing with these women... they're constantly donating to or volunteering at these places and never really mention it, so it's very obviously not just pr stunts. every time we find out about it it's either through other people (like bomi mentioning solar and moonbyul volunteering at the same animal shelter she volunteered at) or noticing things like the unicef bracelet hwasa sometimes wears, which is only given to a specific set of donors
The biggest hint that Wheein would not be renewing came from a radio interview with DinDin on Music High (former collab artist) where he asked about the involvement RBW had on the Redd album and Wheein said they left us alone.
I mean..it depends on your interpretation. I tend to look it from the positive side. I took that as RBW didn't want to interfere with her solo project too much. We all know that RBW is one of very rare companies that give their idols freedom to explore their musics. If you're talking about her promotion, imo RBW already did their best. Wheein's Redd album promotion is literally everywhere from their official youtube, twitter, instagram, and other social media platform (fancafe, etc). The things is (and I'm talking in general here) there's a trend where people tried to find any excuses to blame everything on the company (I hope it's not you tho cause you know some fans sometimes can be so ungrateful). It's been that way since long ago, same old same old. No company is perfect, literally no one, but we should at least be thankful for what they've done. Especially if you already knew that both the staff & CEO of RBW and the girls of Mamamoo are very close to each other. Anw we still got 2.5 more years till their next renewal contracts. I'm forever OT4 and whatever the future is, I'll respect their decisions.
@@winterssong5607right..people always blame to company..but mostly know mamamoo does not really follow the rules, rbw is the best i think they don’t care about age and visual they just see talent in this 4 artist.Their talent and personallity make me happy.am so proud they come from nothing to incredible artist and 4 of them really shine with their own ways.i really want to see their music, they stage performn, until my last breath.i dont wan to think what happen next but mamamoo is my ult bias in kpop, wheein is my ult bias in mamamoo..i love 4 of them and wish wheein and mamamoo keep make music for us.im hunger for their music.
Ah same. The only thing that I think people are sad about (and exaggerating a bit on) is that there always is an eventual end to things. Be it in 2023, or 30 years from now, moos were reminded that eventually, they wont be spoiled with continuous content all year round and that made them sad. I mean I definitely felt it, but for sure, the first person I thought would leave the company was Wheein. Because as much as twittermoos/moos complain about RBW, that place is like home to these women, and leaving was definitely such a big decision for Wi.
The vow from 2023: a little nervous, but I think these two years have made a lot of progress in the industry as for as groups staying together without the company they stayed under. I mean groups like f(x) and 2NE1 have being doing it unofficially for years, Changkyun separated from Starship but remained with Monsta X, but I definitely think Got7’s success leaving a major company without bisbanding, and winning the rights to keep their groups name, AND having an official comeback definitely changed attitudes, and perhaps most importantly gave so many k-stans confidence. I definitely think that Mamamoo have outgrown RBW at this point, especially since RBW is handling several other artists now. Whatever happens this year, I do think the girls will stay MMM.
I must admit that the news about Wheein did shocked me a little and knowing that Wheein is like the core/heart of Mamamoo vocally the news made me sad a little, I'm still happy that we get those 2,5 years with ot4 Mamamoo and whatever Wheein decide to do after 2023 we and they will have the chance to properly say goodbye IF Mamamoo decide to disband. I'm still not over it GFRIEND disbandment and probably never will since they were my number favorite k-pop group, but at least Mamamoo won't have the brutal same fate. One sad but a little funny fact is that i changed my bias in Mamamoo from Solar to Wheein after Wheein blew me away with water color.
yeah... i think a lot of us started to expect this with wheein as the months went on with no word, especially after hwasa's re-signing because we know those two are inseparable. (that said, hwasa quietly liked wheein's instagram letter earlier, since she rarely actually says anything on that platform. even that like says a lot, though. wheein's biggest fan supports her, whatever she does) the news also puts some things mmmtv unnie shared recently in a new light, so i think she knew... or at least suspected... since she's so close with wheein. she left a beautiful letter about supporting wheein wherever she goes, as well, early this morning (korean time) that said, even expecting something along the lines of that news sure didn't make it hurt any less when it got announced. and especially with the letter she recently released. i'm so glad you had a mature, thought-out response here (though, honestly, wouldn't have expected anything less) because it's pretty much the same conclusion i reached i'm glad she specifically did this contract to continue working with mamamoo for the next few years because i don't believe any of the other artists that left their agencies but not their groups had done similar... with this, the company can't try to shut her out of things, which is what many cried about after seeing other agencies do such, but i honestly don't think rbw would have been like that... they've got their faults, sure, but just... that doesn't sound like them at all. though i'm glad we don't have to wait and see...
