I love this BRS too, her outfit suits her much more. don't get me wrong the original BRS & Dead Master are good, but the colors makes everything better. I really love how the 2012 anime basically went the route of a 'Bad Ending' when they did this story of Mato saving Yomi. It all worked out good in the OVA meanwhile here, the horrible timing only served to doom BRS and Mato

While Ufotable were cowardly hiding their CGI behind the tons of rotoscoping just like an ugly girl hides her natural unattractiveness behind layers of cosmetics, Sanzigen were flexing their chopped CGI sequences to the point when they are similar to hand-drawn stop-motion animation from InuCurry. THIS anime should be called Unlimited Budget Works, not that Kinoko Nasu's fanfiction. I'd like to call it Budget Rock Shooter.
That moment at 7:30 i love flame themed things like this! This is so epic, BRS the most badass and well designed female char i've ever seen. I would love s2, but it can't be i think :/ Soooo sad...
They will not make a season 2 bc the only thing they could use is the manga bc it plays in the past of brs so just read it if you want more :) its an completly different story and even more confusing :P

The manga is called "Black Rock Shooter innocent soul. Also when u r interested in season 2 there is smth bc some time ago they said they will make another anime with brs, like always in the brs collection its not rly a season 2 (i know that for sure bc i already have the first chapters of the light novel, but its not translated so i have to wait, but i looked at it and u can see its with brs but like always a different story with probably again a hidden connection to the other storys ^^

This anime was ahead of its time, and still is ahead of its time ten years later. Some neophyte anime director should capture this style for their works.

That's because Dead Master in the OVA was supposed to be the sole villain, so she had to look the part. In the TV anime, Dead Master's characterisation is different, and a more sympathetic Otherself that isn't the antagonist. Like Yomi, she's characterised as maybe 'a lonely princess' or something, so making her look threatening just doesn't make sense for this story.
I hope they can make an anime like this, has intense fight scenes and powerful female protagonist but more detailed story. I am actually bit disappointed in Black Rock Shooter, they have a great animation tbh but they can't make the story more detailed, I can't really understand the flow of the story.
Are you thinking of the OVA Dead Master? She did look bad ass but it's separate from the series. The animation in the OVA is a bit different from the anime.
