Removing melee weapon ranges is a cool change, the old way of determining which loadout to run wasn't very exciting when it came to different ranged melee options. This either streamlines it or opens up less abstract choices
First getting into the game a few months ago, reading the rules was tough. A video like this is a godsend for a new system. Makes it SO much easier to get a grasp of how a turn goes.
Fantastic! Cannot wait for 4th, I'm waiting for the Vermindoom box set with baited breath, but also honestly the creators on this platform have been doing an absolutely brilliant job of talking about it and should be celebrated
Hello, this video is perfect for explaining to newcomers and convincing those who are interested in clear and short information. Of all the media for Age of Sigmar, it should be one of those that is translated into the main languages that are played in Warhammer. Thanks for your work
I barely had to add glue to hide the mold lines on the one figure I put together yesterday. And once you get the right angle, they just pop on. I just put glue on as a preference. I’m sure it would be solid without it. Wasn’t a fan of push fit before but it’s cool in this box!
I began getting into AoS like just over a month ago, and just as I'm beginning to learn the rules of 3rd edition you go and release 4th with all the changes. God I have some great timing don't I
I wonder, could you play Warhammer 40k 10th edition armies against Age of sigmar 4th edition armies? The rules seem pretty similar and there could be a conversion for some stuff, like hero phase could be the command phase, rend could just be AP, etc.
6:14 - must finish the Charge move within half an inch of an enemy unit, but the bottom-most Prosecutor is well over 1/2" away - does just one model in the Charging unit have to be within 1/2"?
So will it be like warhammer 40k where the new edition is released with new rules for each army or do we use the current battletotem till a new one releases?
Should I buy blades of Khorne codex and cards? Even tho they not released 4th edition book or cards yet? I just wanna be able to read my army stuff and learn how to play my army I know how to play the game
I honestly wish that rolling for priority each turn was not something in this game. It makes people play far too passively in a game universe that is supposed to be brutal war near constantly.
Passively? There are many alpha strike army. In aos 4 they basically kill the double turn, so it will b mostly you go I go and the first priority roll is just to decide who goes first if you have the same drop.
They are not that hard. Magic: Roll 2D6 for magic, do >= the value requested. Dispell > the casted value Prayers: Roll D6, do >= the value requested. Keep the point for next turns if under. No dispell allowed. There is an article on the warhammer community if you need more.
I need some help! :D I really like 40k and I'm thinking about getting into AoS. How similar are the games and what factions do you think I will enjoy playing if you know that I play Tyranids right now and really love it :) I'm looking for an army that has either/or: High Movement / Good melee / Stealth / trickery / Deep strike? (don't know what that would be in AoS) I really love the (Lizardmen?) Models, but there are so many cool AF models in AoS, but would love to hear how the lizards play :D Any advise is appreciated
Seraphon are actually pretty perfect. High movement (Skinks, Raptodons), good melee (Kroxigors + Carnisaurs), stealth + deepstrike (Hunters of Haunchi), and have loads of magic trickery because of the Slaan.
Damage is not allocated to models at all in 4th. The damage goes to the unit and once there's damage equal to the wound characteristic then you choose a model to remove.
Noob here, help required: In 40k, when you fire a damage 3 weapon, and say inflict that damage on a Cadian, they are 1 wound... but you don't spread the damage, a single Cadian gets very dead with 3 damage. Here, I saw he did 2 damage to the Clan Rats, and two died. Clan Rats have 1 wound, so... Unlike 40k, shooting damage does spread here, is that correct? Also, does the same apply in the Fight Phase? If I wound with a very big hammer and do 4 damage, that's 4 dead Clan Rats instead of a very dead single Rat, right?
Correct e.g more complex example => 7 damage to a unit of 5 models with 2 wounds each = 3 dead and one wound on the unit (which is usually marked with a die next to the unit) In every phase, and any time damage occurs throughout the game. (Note: In 3rd edition the left over wound would be marked on a single model in the unit, in the new edition it will just be marked on the unit in general)
Damage is applied differently in 40k and in AoS. In AoS, all damage types move from model to model until all the damage has been accounted for or the unit is destroyed. In 40k, only Mortal damage moves from model to model, regular damage is lost if a model is destroyed.
They will release pdf's for all armies, not sure about the rulepacks. The new edition will most likely come during the summer so its not out yet. You can ofc play third edition :)
When the 4th edition releases they will be releasing all the war scrolls online on Warhammer community. Those will all be free warscrolls for all the armies. Eventually, when each army gets a battletome release they will have the warscrolls in the battletomes and then you will probably have to buy the battletome to get access to the warscrolls, but at least at 4th edition launch the warscrolls will be free
WH games are never playable within 5 min. You need to crossread too much and implications of rules are what makes a game tactical. Those are difficult to master.
I like everything I've seen about the core rules. I really don't like anything I've seen from the warscrolls where fun and/or lore themed abilities have been wiped out in favour of bland statlines presumably in aid of what's easier to balance for competitive play. I wish you'd left Spearhead as the competitive game mode, and then kept in daemon summoning, monster harpooning and themed subfactions in for the fuller game. Maybe this is something you'll rectify when the faction books come out, but until then I'll stick with third edition as that's what me and my family like playing.
I absolutely loved the 3rd edition, my happiest gaming experiences, really excited for 4th
genuinely a perfectly crafted video to explain the basics of AoS love to see it.
This new AOS stuff has gotten me hooked well and good, from 40K! Can't wait to get the Skaventide box! It looks so fun

Can't wait to get the new minis!!!
This was fantastic. Hats off to the team that put it together, and I can't wait to dive into 4th Ed.
Thank you for tuning in!
"fast paced" lol 4 hrs later....
Spearhead looks genuinely fast (at least once you know the rules)
No kidding
Fantastic! Cannot wait for 4th, I'm waiting for the Vermindoom box set with baited breath, but also honestly the creators on this platform have been doing an absolutely brilliant job of talking about it and should be celebrated
I just can't wait!!! So happy this got uploaded!

Excited for 4th edition. Orruk Warclans!

Thanks! Would like another video for Command Abilities, Battle traits etc please!
Took a hard break from 3rd but ready to bring my FeC back for this new edition. Thanks for the quick refresh
Hope you enjoy the new edition - the FEC faction update looked cool!
ive been painting minis for like 18 months because theyre the best in the market but this is the first time i actually learn how the game is played 😄
Looking good. Getting Nighthaunt ready for it.
Spooktacular~
Interesting. Only one attack can allocate dmg per model in a unit in 40K. But here the total damage of an attack is distributed across the unit.
That's how it has always been in AoS and Warhammer Fantasy
Awesome! I'm looking forward to saving the Mortal Realms with my Space Dinos! When does the new edition drop?
Soon! When we get more news we'll share it at Warhammer Community!
I was lucky enough to play this game at Warhammer World a few weeks ago. Me and my buds had so much blood soaked fun! Come at me Scaventide!! ❤🐀⚡️
So happy to hear! Thanks for stopping by!
I never played AOS before but this seems very understandable and pretty similiar to 10th ed 40k aside from the 1/2" coherency
You had me at "new Stormcast"
So excited for the next Edition. Going to ACO for one last AoS 3rd hurrah!
I began getting into AoS like just over a month ago, and just as I'm beginning to learn the rules of 3rd edition you go and release 4th with all the changes. God I have some great timing don't I
Good explanation. Especially with the highlights
It’s gotta be close now.
I wonder, could you play Warhammer 40k 10th edition armies against Age of sigmar 4th edition armies? The rules seem pretty similar and there could be a conversion for some stuff, like hero phase could be the command phase, rend could just be AP, etc.
Theres a fundamental difference in the 2 games that makes that really hard. AoS doesnt have strength and toughness
6:14 - must finish the Charge move within half an inch of an enemy unit, but the bottom-most Prosecutor is well over 1/2" away - does just one model in the Charging unit have to be within 1/2"?
Yes👍
I wasn't really enthusiast of AoS since I'm an old dude still loving Old world, but I have to say, this "skaventide" era made me interested.
Aos is just its own thing at this point. Old world is here now if wanna play fantasy more games is nore fun :)
So will it be like warhammer 40k where the new edition is released with new rules for each army or do we use the current battletotem till a new one releases?
New rules for each army (like the Indexes).
Now you all just need to make the Dispossessed a playable group and we’re in business
So which is it? Do you need to be within 1/2” or 3” to be in combat?
Oooooh yeeeeah! 🤩 Really looking forward to this edition!
How many dice can you roll for hero phase?
Should I buy blades of Khorne codex and cards? Even tho they not released 4th edition book or cards yet? I just wanna be able to read my army stuff and learn how to play my army I know how to play the game

It's the best it's ever been in 4.0
Super engaging mechanic
Im assuming jumping from 40k over is basicly same general rule style?
Hype is real for product!
Are you going to do a similare video for Prayers and Magic? Great Video btw
Sadly i believe prayers / magic have been mixed in with the existing stages . So probably low chance of seeing that in a separate video.
They are not that hard.
Magic:
Roll 2D6 for magic, do >= the value requested.
Dispell > the casted value
Prayers:
Roll D6, do >= the value requested. Keep the point for next turns if under.
No dispell allowed.
There is an article on the warhammer community if you need more.
Its pretty dense video but there should be an explanation for every phase action
So non mortal wound damage can transfer over to the next model? (I'm from 40k/30k)
New player excited to get into this. Both AOS and 40k.
Lovin what I'm seeing from the spearhead boxes.
my seraphon are so ready just got 2 stegadons left to paint
I am just planning to start Warhammer.. is this the 4th edition gameplay?

@@officialwarhammer Awesome! Thanks for the reply :) I'm trying to get my hands on the starter box for the Lizzards.
LETS GO GITZ!!
A single die is just called, well, a die. XD
Never played before. Building a Kruleboyz army
Welcome to the Warhammer hobby! Let us know how you get on!
"Some dice" he said 😅
Is there a 40K 10th edition one? Haven't found it. Only the way others say it is played.
It’s on the community website. Core rules pdf is in the 40k link
Yes! Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/hJRRnY4Kquk/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
@@officialwarhammer Thank you. Might need to be retitled similar to the AOS one "Learn to play" , I couldn't find it initially.
For damage do "left over" wounds "spill over" into other models or is it like in 40k where excess is lost, unless rule states otherwise.
doesnt spill over
Damage is not allocated to models at all in 4th. The damage goes to the unit and once there's damage equal to the wound characteristic then you choose a model to remove.
@@waferjuicealways spills over in AoS.

Can't wait for 4th Edition with these New Mini Figures!
So happy battleshock is gone, that was the one thing from last edition i hated
No battleshock? Oh my.
Where is the Clawlord on Gnaw-Beast Tutorial?
Soon~
@@officialwarhammerWhere are my Beastmen?! 😢
(Nah, just messing. Maybe..)
Where can i find the warscrolls and batllepacks? Do i have to buy a specific item?
They’re not out yet, but will be free downloads when the edition comes out (I think)

More Old World!!!
erm what the sigmar
Ce serait sympa de le faire en français aussi, merci
Is there anyone that uses a bear as a mount into battle?
Historically yes, but not in any of our current model ranges. Kislev in Warhammer: Total War III does though.
So every unit now gets a 3 inch attack range. Instead of what it said on their weapons profile.
There is no more melee range only shooting ranged now. 3" for melee.

en français !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They really run and then shoot. It is not intended to be coherent, but still unfortunate
Wounds now carry over to other models? Well, that's sure going to get interesting...
Has always been that way in AoS
Personaly I understand English...but guys, please, it's time to make videos or even only subs for every languages ^^°
Cant wait to play 4th edition !
