I’m loving the Grand Sport, I’ve recently bought an early 4200 CC, compared to previous BMW M cars I’ve owned I’m very pleasantly surprised how much more rewarding it is to drive. The handling even if it feels soft at first is superb and the balance is fantastic which makes it very lazy and satisfying to slide around on a wet B road, it’s a bit under braked but I’ll not worry about that too much. An M car feels like a BMW saloon with a heavier engine bolted up front, this feels like a complete well thought out package.
What tends to draw me to a car is character, I’m currently using a LHD 1973 Mercedes coupe for my European adventures (40k miles worth in it so far!) it just kind of does its thing and does it really well. This Maserati is one of the few modern cars I’ve owned that really fills me with the same level of enthusiasm as my old classics unlike most modern cars you can see past its flaws and enjoy it for what it is. Having watched your video I think the Mazzer is going to my car of choice for going to what ever country is letting British tourists in this summer!

I have to he same car, but I put on quicksilver tips. My god , it's the best sounding car ever . What a gem this car is, the Funny thing is that with the dry sump engine and work that has gone into this Maserati, it's an expensive car to produce, it's going to be regarded as a classic, it's as good or better than the Ferrari 575 that we had, I enjoyed the Maserati as a driving car , much more and it just seemed to have more class.

My Gransport has cost me significantly less in ownership costs over the 4 years I've had it than both my previous cars (Alfa 156 V6 and Alfa 916 series 2 GTV V6). It's a brilliant car! My mechanic gave me a ride in a F 430 and while I know the engine is not the same, honestly, the gearbox and much of the feel of the car was very very similar actually. I was actually not impressed, it felt like a faster Gransport (more speed isn't really something the Gransport needs tbh) with similar gearbox and driving feel, for way way more.
I more think the Alfa 916 GTV V6 is an interesting alternative - much slower but its more of a sports car, way more revvy and hot headed and slow enough that you can use it all. I would recommend that to people looking for an interesting, cheaper and more down to earth drive.
The Gransport is a definite step up though
At this point, the only thing I'd consider as an upgrade is a Ferrari 360, 550, 575 or California or a Lambo Gallardo. Anything else - I'm honestly just not interested anymore

Great video! I have a 2002 Maserati 4200 Coupe CC and I changed out the mid section for x pipe and it sounds awesome!

nice video! The cost to purchase a GS or 4200 in the US market is pretty much the same, I have seen some 4200GT costs more than GS. Really wish there are more like minded people in the states.

Nice! I really wish I could go driving where you have. Darn this pandemic. I'm stuck indoors.
I have a GranSport as well, and I am really liking it. By the way, the proper designation for that engine is F136.

Thanks - yes aware of the engine code, but as that is the same code shared with the Ferrari cars I didn’t want to confuse as they are very different engines.

Hello my friend - great video. I have a 2006 Red Maserati Gransport. Have you thought about changing out to Larini decats and Tubi exhaust? My car screams. Thank you for sharing!

Chicago Mafia - I have fitted an unsilenced mid section, and will be having the rear boxes modified, but would like to keep the car relatively standard.

Would love to know what owners of 4200/Gransports experiences are with reliability and maintenance costs. Any pearls of wisdom for someone wanting to look at purchasing one?

Good video. I'm thinking of getting a 4200 or Gransport, preferably a Gransport. How have you found the gearbox on the Gransport vs the 4200?
I'm also curious as to the repair bills. Having run a few TVR Tuscans in the past and budgeted about £1500 per year, I wondered if this would be similar? Hopefully it feels better built than a tvr.

monkeypops85 after having both I’d go Gransport, (check my other video out for 4200), everything is significantly better. Maintenance costs are high but fairly infrequent, they are a reliable car so just routine servicing, (£600-1200/year) and a clutch every 40,000 miles at around £3k all in. I’m contemplating selling my Gransport so if you fancy one and want to take a look Let me know, just had all the big items done, clutch, tyres, major service etc.

@@ignitionmotorclub8870Hello, curious as to why you wanted to sell your Gransport. I'm thinking of replacing my Boxster with a GranSport so I can have the little ones in the back on find drives. I'm in the US and I see that they're relatively cheap compared with their counterparts.
