This exact procedure worked for me! I had to replace the broken spider arms.
One extra thing I did though was remove the pump - I had to open it and take out a big piece of metal that prevented it's operation. Now it works again.

At 6:52, what type of grease should be applied to the sealing surface of the shaft (the brass ring)?

I agree. This is an excellent video. However my problem seems to be leakage around the outer basin. I can see a little dripping around the bottom 2 screws. I've tried to tighten them but they seem fairly tight already. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Amazing videos... Since yesterday, the inner tub shake front-back on final spin causing hard hit on the door. I call a technician who advise me to buy a new washing machine, because it's the inner tub and cost of labor+part is too high. Having done myself few repair in the past, I feel bit sad to have to buy a new machine.. especially after seeing that newest machine seem harder to access in case need to be repair (e.g. no front panel, which at least give access to the pump on that unit). Any recommandation/advises?

***** FYI: the Frigidaire front-loading washing machine show in the video, is exactly the one I have currently (purchase in 2003).

The outer rear tub and the inner tub are fused together with some sort of brown liquid from the bearing all over the place -- and I cannot seem to get them separated even with banging it with a rubber mallet. This is extremely frustrating -- any suggestions on the best way to go about this?

Alana D When the tub seal and main bearing fail they can fuse the shaft into the tub bearing. Soak the shaft and bearing with a penetrating oil and maybe they will separate.

I tried it and I gave up after a few hours. I did soak it in liquid wrench the entire time... I guess the moral of my story is not to keep using the washer when you know the bearing is bad. If I fixed it right away I may have been able to get it apart. Thanks for the fast response and great videos!
