Started growing pumpkins 🎃 2 year back after following this video . Had excellent pumpkins. All of them huge . Follow this guide and you can’t go wrong
well done, I farm pumpkins too, I'm forced to used pots because geography, but I pride myself in the perfect colour of what I grow, I've never seen a big pumpkin with the same quality. but yours have the size (because ground grown) and a very nice colour (I didn't get a perfect close look but it looks amazing from here) you can be proud.
I got a pumpkin growing kit for Christmas, it’s been in the shed for 5 months. This month I followed my plant instructions and have 3 baby pumpkins on my windowsill. Thanks for this video, it is very informative, can’t wait to follow these instructions. 🎃
bonus tip for you: try to get a balance between cutting leaves off so that direct sun light can help female flowers (especially when they're recently fertilised and trying to grow) and keeping the leaves on so the plant can thrive. bigger and more leaves is better BUT a common cause of fertilised pumpkins failing is not enough direct sunlight because leaves blocked it. the answer is balance.
Beautiful pumpkins. Great video. Came here because my pumpkin is tall. Very few leaves. Not watering it enough and definitely lacking in the feeding department. Off I go with many thanks. ❤️🇨🇦
Looking to grow our own pumpkins from the seeds of our pumpkins this year. We will have 30 pumpkins from our display. In hope of being able to grow at least 30 of our own for next year. Complete novice but your video was very informative thank you!

Champion tips on pumpkins, thank you. I will follow your advice when I plant mine out in a few weeks time up here in Northern Scotland. I'll let you know how it goes. Paul (Geordie away from home)
If the pumpkins are turning out really small when they turn orange, is this maybe caused by a mineral deficiency? Is there something you should do in the fertilizer to supplment this and how do you know which one?
@@TheGreyGardener1990 Thanks. I'll check on that. I think I am about 2 or 3 per plant. But I didn't think to check. But last year they were bigger. Gardening is such a useful skill. Its amazing that people can do their own skills and building.
As a comparison I've planted two plants this year, left 4 to 5 pumpkins on each and 2 of them are football size currently so it could be down to a few things. Soil condition being a big factor. I haven't fed them or anything.
Question our pumpkins have been goin 2 months tons of flower ( may fell off already ) there are no females? No builds behind any flowers. Steril pumpkins lol. They were seed from last year's pumpkins from the store we let rot and stay out through winter.
This is amazing. I'm gonna grow mine in a planter, currently seeds are taking form in a pot. How far away do you put each plant from one another on your allotment? I'm thinking of growing two at least.
Depends on the size of the bed they're going in...I'd give them a metre if possible. But I know people have gone closer and had decent results. Just not on top of each other basically haha
Hi, not entirely sure of the size but as long as its not tiny then you will be ok. I've put them in bigger pots than this in the past too and it's fine. Depending on where you are in the country, a bigger pot could be beneficial if you have to keep it in the Greenhouse for longer due to cold temperatures. Nothing worse than when your plant starts to outgrow the pot!
Great vid, will give the water pipe a try next time! I'm growing some little white and orange pumpkins that I tried to plant as exploration (first time planting pumpkins), but with this heat, the soil is getting drier every day and the plants are getting that heat from the soil as well. Do you have any recommendation of what could be used to keep the soil moist and help to fight the heat?
My seed packaging says 110 days to harvest. If I want to wait a week or two after predicted harvest, will the pumpkins stay healthy on the vine, or will they begin to rot if not harvest at correct time?
Hi, I'm just starting out to grow anything and wanted to try growing pumpkins for this Halloween. Is it too late for this year? Also, do you soak your seeds before you sow them? Thanks 🎃
Hi Vicki, I'd say it was too late yeah. You could try some local garden centres who may be selling an established plant and give that a go. I didn't soak them though no 👍
if mine don't grow in time because I've planted it at the beginning of June, and now It has a yellow flower on it and the plant is huge , but if it any of them don't grow before Halloween, I'll try again next year haha
Great video thanks! We was a little late sowing our pumpkins. We did it about 12 or 14 days ago. Do you think they will be ready for harvest before Halloween? They have not long started to germinate. Cheers

I’m growing pumpkins for the first time but I planted them too close to the sidewalk! Stems are starting to grow into the sidewalk but have roots growing in the ground! Is it ok to pull them out of the ground and direct them away from the sidewalk? Or should I just leave them
