    Well it worked!!!! After a pipe wrench, 2 different oil filter removers, The drive a screwdriver thru the filter trick, WD-40 and a handmade filter remover I got from the internet. Tried all these but the clamp did work!!!!!! Thanks again!!!! God bless TH-cam....

    Dude! You're a genius! Or maybe whoever taught you this is, but regardless I owe you a beer or a Happy Meal or something. Working on cars for 50 years, never had this happen. (Filter was on less than a year but someone else did the previous oil change. Safe bet they forgot to oil the seal.) Tried several suggested techniques, no success. Starting to think I'd have to get it towed to a shop but $6 muffler clamp did the trick. Again, thanks for a great tip!

      Give it a try, the screwdriver trick is great until the filter tears all the way around leaving a sharp edge to work against.

    Since you have a ton of room you can just grab it with a big pair of slip joint channel locks. Smash and turn. About half the time of your muffler clamp hack.

    Was that a 2.75" walker clamp? Was this for a car owned by someone else, and if so how did the conversation about this filter go? ("So it looks like your filter was pretty stuck. Do you know how long ago it was put on there?") 😁

    • @combustiontherapy2222
      @combustiontherapy2222  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a customer vehicle the conversation definitely would’ve gone something along those lines 😂 Thankfully it was a car I purchased to repair & resell that had been sitting for quite some time, over 2 years to be exact through heavy snow storms etc. One winter that it sat we had record snow fall amounts, the military was even called in to help with snow clearing efforts. In the end after some missed maintenance and needed work it was a fine little car with a mere 142k on the clock.

      @billb6899 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nemedities Successfully used this trick today, measured new filter - it was between 2 3/4" and 3". Since old one was already squished from attempts to get the filter off, I went with 2 3/4. Filter was a Wix 51036 on Chevy 4.3. So measure your replacement filter and unless its exactly the clamp size go with the next smaller size.
