We did a manta snorkel on Kona in August 2009 and it was amazing. I just wish the other boats hadn't brought so many people and had everyone wearing fins.
Make time third week of June - i'm planning to be back in Kona around then. And this time, bring a non-disposable camera along! Bruce & co. might come along too.
Touching, grabbing or just being in their way can make them really shy. Touching the rays could also remove the protective coating on their skin and leave them susceptible to infections.
It's the sweetest dive indeed, reason enough to get certified - one of the best experiences i've had in the water. Just try not to touch the mantas even when they come really close to you. Enjoy!

sweet dive. i cant wait to get fully certified. I just did a dive at Blackrock Maui with the giant sea turtles. but this looks really fun as well.

why are u advising not to touch the mantas? Sorry i dont know much about diving or mantas.
