It makes me sad I got to introduced this record to my dad during the last year of his life. He loved this record and asked me to always play This Is All I Have For You. I'm sure bein a bass player he was nuts over that track. He kept ask to play one song but he didnt know the name of it. At 4am one night I'm listening to it and out of nowhere he yelled "That's it! That's the song! Play that from the beginning...".

When I finish work I put this on my ear buds and drive the motorcycle out into the country. It’s around sundown, I have a smoke, and I cruise past the power plant and the farms to reach my favorite road, lined with with palm trees and flatland, where the sky is open and the sun hits me more directly. It’s a vibe.

I would call this Japanese AOR Makoto was also heavily influenced by Steely Dan.
Too bad he was so underrated and didn't released his own albums much I'm pretty sure he's the behind the scenes guy, session musician that don't enjoyed his own success too much and rather stayed low key, He enjoyed his time in the spotlight and quickly go back to where he feel more comfortable with.
This album is banging and emotional though "Love was really gone" is such a heartbreaker and "Sunset" is so hauntingly sad and beautiful, perfectly signified a heartbroken man

"Lazy Night" (released 1981) is a slick little lift off of Steely Dan "Glamour Profession" (1980).

I see the raindrops fall on the windowpane
    It's just 5 o'clock still I feel the same
    Wait for you
I put the words on a note
    Tryin' to understand
    Maybe I love you still
    But you can't be found
    Summer's gone
    I lost it all
    I wrote a song
    Maybe it's long
    September rain
    Comes to me again
    Just like sudden sadness comes
    Hangin' on the breeze
    September rain
    Falls on easy pain
    All the little lovers here
And I'm down into your traces
I've got a little smile when twilight comes
    It's funny
    I think of you
    You gave me little smile
    And I told to you
You will never know what I mean to you
    Summer's gone
    I lost it all
    Twilight comes
    And I recall
    September rain
    Comes to me again
    Just like sudden sadness comes
    Hangin' on the breeze
    September rain
    Falls on easy pain
    All the little lovers here

Sunset is a really beautiful song, kept thinking about it today.
I found out about this album because some guy recommended it in the comments for Step's Album Rising Tomorrow, which is also AOR. (Great Album btw).

Its always fascinated me that when I first heard George Benson's Breezin' album, I was thinking how these two works are so sweetly similar sounding. They both vibe in a good way, so fresh when they both came out.

I really like the music of Makoto Matsushita. His cd's are unfortunately quite hard to get in Europe. In The Netherlands they charge 50 euro per cd (!) Japanse import is an option but then there are the high shipping costs en long delivery. I guess I have to continue listening through TH-cam.
