on the multi sport thing. If McDavid didn't actually play another sport he is in the small minority based on the 2018 survey done by the NHL and NHLPA. They completed a survey of their players in September 2018. Here are the results: • From Ages 5-14, 98% of NHL Players participated in a sport other than hockey. More than half of them played soccer (60%) and/or street/roller hockey (59%). Baseball (48%), Golf (43%) were close behind, with basketball (28%), outdoor sports (24%), tennis (23%) and football (22%) rounding out the top-8. • From Ages 15-18, nearly 80% of NHL Players continued to participate in a sport other than hockey while chasing their on-ice dream. Golf (42%) was the most heavily-played sport and stayed consistent from early childhood, followed by street/roller hockey (24%) and baseball (20%) participation. Nearly 20% played soccer during the 15-18 age range, though this was the steepest drop-off from early childhood (-40%).
In Canada it's a lot harder to get seen through the School/Collegiate system. In America you can get seen/drafted by playing well in the NCAA. It's not about how you start out though. Lots of players in the NHL played house league at one point or another but generally you transition into playing in as competitive of a league as you can in your area (or move to somewhere that has more competition). Hope that helps dude! 👑

Thank you for this
But what if you are a saiyan?😀
Whaaat is Chippy a guest or full time?
Full time baby!
I’m 5’11 13/yo and somewhat skilled do you think that pays off more than being average height and really skilled?
For a couple years you’ll have a decent advantage, especially if you train hard and practice your puck control!
@@puckdaddypodcast if I put in the work and train a lot do you think I’ll have a chance at making the NHL?
