- Fallout 4- The Legend of Croup Manor- The remains of a family dynasty, their crumbling house and the last survivor. This and more in this episode of Fallout 4- Legends of
Croup Manor:
So the Croups were a wealthy pre-war family that fell into ruin from some back stock choices. A large portion of the family was at Croup Manor when the bombs hit, turning all of them into ghouls. Most of the ghouls around the manor are probably part of the family. Alcohol and mannequins serve as evidence that someone still lives here, and, after getting the bedroom key from the study, you get the basement key from the lounge. The basement has been transformed into a living area for the ghouls by the last surviving member of the family, the non-feral ghoul Theodore Croup. The bombs wiped out the family debt and, after noticing that ghouls don't attack their own, he sets about training his family. Trying to restore them to their former selves. The furthest he gets is his cousin James being able to tell forks apart. I think he is the docile ghoul out the back. Eventually he gives into the frustration and kills his ghoulified Aunt Belinda. We find him dead, and I suspect that, after the attacked her, the other ghouls turned on him. As for the rest of the story, watch and find out.

That one ghoul that was standing near the side of the house respawned when I was making a settlement there and scared the hell out of me.
Same here, I was in ballistic weave so it didn't even take off 5% of my health, but with headphones jamming out to diamond city radio playing cole porter, then THUMP, jump 4 feet

A mod somewhat restores and repairs this place so I recommend getting one of those if you can.
Just keep mod safety and the readmes in mind. I installed one recently and I really like it without all the "holes" and whatnot.

to be fair, It could have been a home made weapon.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but they actually were. There's an issue of Guns n' Bullets with a pipe weapon on it saying something about homemade weapons from Detroit. Before the war, weapons were ridiculously expensive, so people used a common method of making their own. This is also the canon for finding them in pre war locations, safes, etc.

Ghouls don't start feral so maybe at first they survived but after a long time became feral. They most likely didn't know that they didn't have to eat and drink since their ghouls

Well after the Great War most of the ghouls went feral.

There's a place called Andrews Station (I think), a subway station near the coast, kind of in the south, where a bunch of raiders have set up. On the surface, its nothing special, (Just a shitload of Raider Veterans), but underneath is a large, very nice setup that the raiders had built for pleasure.
It might be. I haven't travelled with Nick at all, so I wouldn't know. However, there is a named Raider boss there. Speaking of which, I've noticed a few terminals in Raider bases that point to a complex series of alliances and rivalries between the various Raider gangs, some of which mention things the player has done. Anyone else know about those?
Is it just me, or do some the ghouls in this game have bloated bellies? Like that dead Withered ghoul in the bedroom.
Maybe they do eat food, despite only needing radiation, but they have no way of telling when they've had enough, and just eat until there's nothing left.
Or It could be something considerably darker; that they were pregnant when they were first turned into ghouls, and now they go around carrying a long-dead fetus...
It's the bloated process when all the internal fluids build up.
Ghouls do eat, feral ones at least, you can see them eating corpses all the time. Although starvation also causes bloated bellies, so they may have just died like that. Or it's just a feral ghoul thing, maybe a build up of fluid like the other guy said.
I was about 12 when I played New Vegas and the ghouls terrified me and this game brought back my fear...I HATE when they jump down on you

You know, I only briefly noticed the passive ghoul for a mere moment before I pumped him full of bullets like his companions. Tends to happen when I'm in battle. Lines between aggressive and passive blur.
One of the best places to build a settlement though
the withered and glowing one were both alive and attacked me as soon as I unlocked and opened the door upstairs. totally caught me off guard, and I yelled, shit! and dropped my controller. hahaha

And I think the reason for so many of them being there until the morning hours of a Saturday would be the same as to why there was plungers and mannequins and a booze bottle behind a teddy bear and tinned food everywhere. And it warms my heart to know that this family, drowning in debt and fearful for the future, still had the means to throw a gigantic bender that would have made The Great Gatsby smile.

Most companions hate Croup Manor, but I found it quite a nice place to start a settlement. My wife generally builds settlements for me, as mine are always simply functional, without any style, but we worked together on Croup. She had built here in an earlier game of her own, and found Ghouls would respawn in the cellar/basement, so in my game it's boarded off - just in case! Once you scrap everything, you can turn it into a really nice house, plenty of water, land for growing, and that plinth outside is just begging for a groovy statue! Thanks again for an excellent video my friend!

It may be a bit of a creepy place, but it wasn't for the ghouls and general delapidated state of the structure I'd live in that house for real. With a bit of work, ok a lot of work, some wallpaper and old furniture it could turn out quite nice.
Only real problem I could see would be the cliff round back safewise. Well that and the proper tax would be killer.
+Grumpydrawer The cliff out back would be an asset, all rock instead of dirt and rock so you don't need to worry about a landslide and on top you can put a nice deck with railing and maybe a hot tub as well as stairs down to a boat dock.

My assumption is because "manors" were so large, the Gouls around the manor were servants, tending to the house when the bombs dropped. Makes the most sense besides the dinner party idea, but that seems illogical as 2 people in a big ass house probably were too rich to make food for that many people.

How's that? I'm not being a smartass or bashing, just wondering. I just recently found Shoddy and like their content, a lot but I don't like how the people run it. They really seem like they're taking advantage of their viewers but I can't deny the quality of their vids. Apple was the only one I really watched before I found them but still watch thenapple's. I like how he goes into detail of small areas allowing much more information about smaller areas.

Hey, it took him a few hundred years to snap, even after being permanently scarred form radiation poisoning. Most people lose their minds 70-80 years in, and that's WITHOUT nuclear fallout.

For a suggestion perhaps, there are some unmarked places on the map called 'Drug Dens'. I didn't know if there was perhaps some lore that possibly connected them or if they were just superficial places that are self explanatory.

Well the withered ones are most likely the oldest ones because if you know fallout it says that the reason they are feral is because their brains rottened/withered away so maybe the withered ones are either the oldest (somehow) or had lots and lots of radioactvity during its past
You should cover the Quincy massacre.
The third entry wasn't in October, it was 8 days after the second entry.
The one who could tell the difference between forks is probably the non hostile ghoul

One theory on why everyone was there in the morning.
A post stock-crash meeting perhaps? If the trade that ruined the family had been very recent, perhaps this was the 'central family home'. Other family members, hearing their fortunes had gone to shit went to either A) whoever was responsible, or b) the 'family head' who presumably lived in the manor.
And then the bombs fell!
