I'm calling it now. Someone is going to (hopefully) make a mod where, if you keep or re-steal the Deathclaw egg, you can hatch it and make it into a companion. Totally OP, for sure, but who in their right mind wouldn't want a loyal Deathclaw that can wreck enemies like nothing?

As you said, the candles were unlikely to have been lit by the Gunners so someone else was in the Museum. I submit the following: The Gunners sought shelter in the museum and chained the doors to keep the Deathclaw out. Whomever was already in the museum let the Deathclaw in unbeknownst to the Gunners (none of the bodies were found near the entrance I believe) and re-chained the door to prevent them escaping. This person than escaped through the basement entrance which the Gunners likely did not find before the Deathclaw got to them.
Before putting the egg back in the nest you can fully approach and talk to the deathclaw. If you leave the egg, supposedly he'll always be friendly to you.

Oh just an FYI, this is unrelated to the video but it is rather interesting, the Cambridge Crater was caused by the missile launched from the Yangtze, if anyone was wondering. :)
+Samuel Watt Actually, it's a different one. It's not far from the police station and is a good spot to use for farming a little extra XP. Just grab your favorite high-powered rifle, sneak up to the crater rim (if your Sneak is low, just slap on a Stealth Boy), and start racking up Ghoul headshots. I wouldn't suggest going into the crater itself without a good bit of radiation protection and a few doses of Rad-X and RadAway. Still, there's enough Ghouls (including a Glowing One at the center) that you're almost guaranteed to bag a legendary or two.
Hmph I killed him as well. He gave me his sword for helping him fix his sub. I took him out and I bet he can rest easy with his crew and every other person I've had the honor of slicing & shooting.

When I came here, I wasn't sure what to expect, so I went inside, and then when the jumpscares started happening, I instantly regretted leaving my power armour in Sanctuary, but decided to continue on. I realised what it was, and continued regretting as I was ripped apart several times. I finally took the thing out, making my companion tank it with a power armour frame.

Im surprised you didnt mention the skull embedded into the wall of the basement. As soon as you enter and turn right, that small hole in the wall reveals it. To me its pretty ominous, like the building's foundation is made up of corpses or something.
As someone who actually liked Fallout 4's story I just love how this quest parallels the main quest and letting you truly see what you'd do in such a situation. It seems like handing over the Deathclaw egg to the Mr. Handy would be a direct parallel to Kellogg delivering Shaun to the Institute and thereby once and for all showing that you were not so different after all depending on your play through. That plus what you see in his memories could potentially prove that you've more or less become the very person you despised so much in the end. That would also tie in nicely to something Codsworth says about the wasteland corrupting even the best of people... Or you can deliver the baby to its mother and destroy the Institute and thereby prove how much of a fucking asshole Kellogg was..
I got to thinking how in Fallout lore, deathclaws are one of the more intelligent non-humanoid species, so I returned the egg hoping for something interesting to happen. I saw the male make a super badass entrance, and half-expecting a boss battle, readied my weapon. He just stood there, and didn't appear as an enemy. Don't regret returning the egg one bit. That's one less deathclaw that'll attack me randomly as I'm walking around.

I really wish there was a easter egg in the museum referencing the Krivbeknih. It would have been really cool, seeing as the fictional book it is based off of, the Necronomicon, is said to have been in one of the Salem witch's library in the Lovercraftian universe.

It really bugged me that, after you gave the egg back, murdered the deathclaw and retook the egg, that you could not deliver the egg as the quest was closed. In my opinion, selling the egg gets the best reward.

Although from my understanding whether you use the term witch, wizard, warlock, or sorcerer depends on your choice of magical practice and or religious path as Coven hag and Flutterdash pointed out.
Just to let people know you can actually get past the death claw with out having to fight it. Just go through the hole in the wall where he saw death claw from and book it to the room with the egg in it. Than take the egg and book it to the door that leads out side. It doesn't effect the out come of the mission.

vault 95, Vault Tec did a 5 year rehab program and the vault dwellers were all addicts. after the 5 years vault Tec reintroduced chems to the vault population. everything went to shit.
I bet money that the naked mannequins are due most likely to the raiders... Scavenging for materials or something new perhaps to wear? New in terms of comparison to say, what they may have had on.. For example: if they have the capacity to care about someone else other than themselves, a couple may want to tie the knot? I mean... Ok, so that wasn't the best example. But armor does get dinged up and broken, clothes do tend to fall apart or rip... so the ideas not that far out of bounds..
Gunners are heavily armed sometimes they have power armour and it sounds like there were a lot of them so they could have killed it with a few bullets and maybe a grenade

in the museum, you can kill the savage deathclaw without even getting hit by moving back and forth under the little doorway and the deathclaw will have to turn around and go around to get to you. rinse and repeat for a FLAWLESS VICTORY!

I guess it's scaled, I was a fairly low level the first time I went there. Like, below 30. But I would have thought the big albino one would be considered more of a high level enemy than a savage one.

A male witch is still called a witch. The term Warlock, which translates to "oath breaker", referred to a fake witch that pretended to join a coven then tell the church or witchfinders where to find them.
Suffolk County Charter School would make for a great episode, with lore suggesting they used a mysterious food paste to turn children and staff into ghouls. That's almost Vault Tec levels of sinister....
My theory for how the Deathclaw got inside: The door wasn't barred when the Gunners arrived. They took refuge inside, possibly the basement entrance we go through, and the Deathclaw enters through the main entrance. The Gunners then had the bright idea to bar the door so they could make their escape out of the basement and leave the Deathclaw trapped inside for at least a short while. As for why all of them were upstairs, I bet they figured some of them needed to act as a distraction while the others blocked off the door. Naturally, they didn't make it, but they did succeed in locking the thing inside.
This side mission kind of reminded me of the parts of Jurassic Park 1 and 3. The raptor's egg that was stolen from one of the adventurers. Then the seat in the stands where Willingham is at, the scene where the doctor is talking with a shaving cream can that is hiding vials of some serum. Kinda vague, but for those that know what I am talking about, I hope you can relate.

I believe warlock is actually a term meaning someone who turned their back on being a witch. But people started using the term for male witches because apparently men and women can't have the same title.
Seems to me like the likeliest case is the gunners attempted to return the eggs and in doing so gave Mama Deathclaw an opportunity to get in through the large doors. Then the Gunners tried to ensure they would not be followed again and shut the door while Mama was distracted, intended on leaving through the basement. Once the Mama Deathclaw heard the doors slam, a fight ensued. At some point during the fight most of the eggs were destroyed., and the Gunners lost the fight.

There was a Deathclaw Companion mod for New Vegas. It was OP in the Vanilla game, but in other mods it was about correct.

There's a mod called beast master that allows you to have a pet deathclaw. You have to build a cage with bait to catch it.

It is entirely possible that the Deathclaw itself is a witch and teleported in
Magic deathclaws. Because normal ones aren't terrifying enough.

I really wish there was a easter egg in the museum referencing the Krivbeknih. It would have been really cool, seeing as the fictional book it is based off of, the Necronomicon, is said to have been in one of the Salem witch's library in the Lovercraftian universe.

Also, if you damage the tail a shiteload, it will just fall off and the deathclaw will be stuck on the ground, helplessly trying to stand back up for awhile.

To be honest,I think that it might have been someone involved with Dunwich Borers before the war who did all the bat-shit crazy stuff in the museum.It kinda makes sense,but of course,it doesn't explain why those DAMN MANNEQUINS are STILL STANDING.*Sigh* I guess it's just another case of those things having a mind of their own.I still remember finding one of those things in Far Harbor,in an old shack,standing next to a dead body,with a machete in hand. It really bugged me that, after you gave the egg back, murdered the deathclaw and retook the egg, that you could not deliver the egg as the quest was closed. In my opinion, selling the egg gets the best reward.
When I returned the egg, it was a Glowing Deathclaw.

Actually, I think that wizard and sorcerer are interchangeable. I might be wrong, but I'm going off of what I've learned through learning about Arthurian legend.

Just to let people know you can actually get past the death claw with out having to fight it. Just go through the hole in the wall where he saw death claw from and book it to the room with the egg in it. Than take the egg and book it to the door that leads out side. It doesn't effect the out come of the mission.

I bet money that the naked mannequins are due most likely to the raiders... Scavenging for materials or something new perhaps to wear? New in terms of comparison to say, what they may have had on.. For example: if they have the capacity to care about someone else other than themselves, a couple may want to tie the knot? I mean... Ok, so that wasn't the best example. But armor does get dinged up and broken, clothes do tend to fall apart or rip... so the ideas not that far out of bounds..

My theory for how the Deathclaw got inside: The door wasn't barred when the Gunners arrived. They took refuge inside, possibly the basement entrance we go through, and the Deathclaw enters through the main entrance. The Gunners then had the bright idea to bar the door so they could make their escape out of the basement and leave the Deathclaw trapped inside for at least a short while. As for why all of them were upstairs, I bet they figured some of them needed to act as a distraction while the others blocked off the door. Naturally, they didn't make it, but they did succeed in locking the thing inside.
This side mission kind of reminded me of the parts of Jurassic Park 1 and 3. The raptor's egg that was stolen from one of the adventurers. Then the seat in the stands where Willingham is at, the scene where the doctor is talking with a shaving cream can that is hiding vials of some serum. Kinda vague, but for those that know what I am talking about, I hope you can relate.

I believe warlock is actually a term meaning someone who turned their back on being a witch. But people started using the term for male witches because apparently men and women can't have the same title.
Seems to me like the likeliest case is the gunners attempted to return the eggs and in doing so gave Mama Deathclaw an opportunity to get in through the large doors. Then the Gunners tried to ensure they would not be followed again and shut the door while Mama was distracted, intended on leaving through the basement. Once the Mama Deathclaw heard the doors slam, a fight ensued. At some point during the fight most of the eggs were destroyed., and the Gunners lost the fight.
