"Yeeaah... Tim Shoots, if you could just sacrifice a shitload of people to a dark god, that'd be greeeeat... (sips coffee)" - Dunwich Management
"I get the feeling that this will not be the last time we see this entity."
*the entity is never seen again*
The rumbling, is the Titan snoring.
The giant face in Dunwich looks like someone hungover with the covers pulled up. Then someone shined a light in their face and the told them to fuck off XD Feedback and suggestions are appreciated :)
I suggest HalluciGen, Inc. it's very interesting and would prove for a good video.
Glad they brought back Dunwich...but if you ask me, Dunwich Building from F3 was much creepier imo.
The building had the eeriness and unsettling of an abandoned house, whereas 4 spooks is with scares like a haunted mansion
i want a dlc about Dunwich... just a weird dlc,
Yeah, you go way down into the borers, get the tooth, and then a event happens and you have to gtfo, after that, a huge fucking monster comes out of the hole and goes off to where ever the DLC will set place, then you fight it at the end
"So safety was first... the first thing they didn't gave a fuck about."
kinda reminds me of us gamers when told not to go somewhere.
By Grognak's axe, I'm going down there to fuck some shit up! I feel no fear! I eat fear for breakfast. Sometimes I just have toast though.
do you also have the custome?
i have it, but unless your suicidal i sugest bringing a shotgun (a powerfull one) just in case
+Kvin Cast Nah mate, I cleared that place out with a chain wrapped aluminium baseball bat.
Liam Patchett if you were playing at normal ok, i was playing on very hard, so yeah it wasent a walk in the park
Whyyyyy I don't want to go down here but I need that bobblehead
+Nomadic Hermit your probably on easy theres no way in hell your clearing this area at lvl 7 on hard or harder difficulties
I was about lvl 30-40 and had decently upgraded x-01 power armor when I went in there on hard difficulty...
I know I found a bobblehead down there, but not sure if I cleared it
The creepy part about Hugo's hole is that he definitely shoots himself because you're getting too close. As you approach the area you can hear exactly one gunshot going off, took me a while to put it together the first time that he was talking about us getting too close...
Power armor as my shield, the dunwich fears me
+Darkwolf Sad to say your shield is heavy and "The Giant" that sleeps below will imprison you simply by water in a hole, I don't know if they fear you that much....
dude... I love your voice, accent, and the way you so eloquently describe things, like "and a powerful turret ready to cleave your fucking kneecaps off." Keep that shit up forever, man, it cracks me the hell up. You have a way with words...
COME ON LOVECRAFT DLC!
+729Drew Not necessarily, most of the Point lookout dlc was lovecraftian based
+Mago The Snowman I mean Massachusetts is "Lovecraft Country"... It would be one hell of a shame if they didn't make one...
Is it me or does it feel like the bombs where dropped to avoid the shit hitting the fan.
I doubt it, though it's a heck of a coincidence. But am I the only one who wants that Titan to rise up, only to find the entire commonwealth (Minutemen, BoS, Institute, that submarine) waiting and ready to tear it a new one once and for all?
+ClayXros Howell I find it strange that the bombs were dropped when every corporation was having problems...Well most of them, I don't know about Vault Tec. It would be a good addition if the giant was a future dlc quest/enemy or something to that extent.
+srg. Arch Dornan
I believe it's called Yangzee. (or something starting with a Y and ending with EE). It's on the coast and the quest is started by a kid looking out onto the water. Look for 2+ half sunken boats and a "cameoflaged" periscope.
+PicosFTW209 Well the Enclave was obviously prepared for one such contingency (Enclave = Illuminati?) as they were the people behind Vault-Tech and as we know now, the vaults were essentially just lab experiments. If the saying, "Some people just want to watch the whole world burn." is true, then I'm almost willing to believe that nuclear war was conducted by some unknown group setting off a nuke and pretending to be someone else. The Sum of All Fears turned reality for the world of Fallout and the Enclave must have known seeing as the Enclave was what remained of American power pre-Great War
+ClayXros Howell dont forget The U.S.S. Constitution...i imagine it being used like a cannon firing missile
I was randomly exploring and those flashbacks freaked me out so bad it's a cool area but it is really scary
lucky. I never got the flash backs at all. Im going back now...great, place is freaky.
+CmacSnipes I never got the weapon in the underwater cavern....It wasn't there.
+Kratos510e yeah it doesn't spawn sometimes not sure why I couldn't get the deathclaw gauntlet to spawn
Maybe fallout 5, main or DLC will bring a conclusion to the eldritch events. A DLC or mission chain called "Atomic Horror" sounds appropriate.
Wow, this has so much more personality in it than Oxhorn's. Don't know how I didn't find you sooner.
Thats cause he just says whats on the wiki and has no personality (oxhorn not apple)
Oxhorn's voice just drones on... its good for white noise if one is trying to sleep
You're getting these out a lot faster than I expected, and the quality is still superb. Nice job Apple.
Another Dunwich area? That is pretty interesting, wonder if there are any Dunwich related areas in Fallout 1 and 2 or if they are only in the Bethesda games.
+L. Wolf I think it is only a Bethesda thing since FO1 and 2 are set in the west coast and are developed by Inexile and Obsidian. The whole Dunwich story is set in the East Coast.
Dantaefett Icus
Ah I see, yea I don't think there was one in New Vegas either.
+Dantaefett Icus Exactly. H.P. Lovecraft lived in Rhode Island, and as such he set his stories in the area he was most familiar with. As such, the states that make up New England are sometimes referred to as 'Lovecraft Country'.
+L. Wolf If you've done the Cabot Quest line on the son's side, He says that he's head west because he's following his father's leads to another buried alien city... under the Mojave.
Sanguinius
Ah, no I haven't done the Cabot Quest line but it does sound interesting. I'll have to look into it.
Curse you Dunwich Borers & Witch! I spite at thee!
Also, the first time I got there it was because of a Railroad mission. Apparently the quest location of said mission is randomized so I went down there, find the dead RR agent, went deeper, and saw visions and freaked me the fuck out. I ended up grabbing the blade and bailed, utterly lost and confused.
i would have gone to railroad and insult them for doing that
still i went there couse i already knew about the fallout 3 danwitch building, and even as i was ready the jump scares were to much
+Kvin Cast I did not know what was happening but I figured it would be creepy because of fallout 3
+lcmiracle I played through Fallout 3, and did the dunwich/blackhall stuff. So when I came across that quarry randomly and saw it was 'dunwich borers' Oh gees I knew what kind of shit i was getting into.
+arty same here a settler asked me to kill a group of raiders and when i finally killed their leader i thought i was done but the more i go through the more ghouls i enconter at that time i only use 10 mm pistol because most of my weapon has already ran out of ammo. When i am in there i was like " cursed this place it was insane" and when i finally got after a couple of minute resting from playing this game i just realised i missed the blade by watching youtube"sigh".
I really thought the title said "The Legend of the Dunwich Boners" for a moment...
Xanthous King Solaire XD yea very much a kid and an extremely immature one at that
It's always interesting when Fallout incorporate supernatural elements in it's lore.
remember when it wasn't always plungers that killed everyone but rather vault-tec level intelligence?
I yelped with joy when I saw -discovered dunwich borers-
LOVE spooky stuff. Excellent coverage of this place Mr.Applehead.
I loved this area. Soon as I stumbled on it and saw the name I was like "Oh, yeah!". Did not expect the flashbacks, that was a nice touch. Was genuinely creeped out at some parts.
Winter Ale You didn't? Sounds like a bug. What made it great was I didn't expect them. Maybe try a reload of the area. If not, maybe there will be a patch.
It would have been freaky if the eye of the giant face opened, or the face had moved slightly when you see it after you grabbed the blade.
There he goes again! This must have become my favorite show after a long week. Congrats on the work once again!
I have the FCOM mod and I did this area with 6 brotherhood knights in power armor and 6 in combat armor...
Thanks to the ghouls, only 3 made it out. 2spooky4me
Wow.That sounds pretty badass to go down with an entire SQUAD to take out those things...and really appropriate, since there is a lot of Feral Ghouls down there. The BOS HATES those things.
Deathshredder58 I went down there in full X-01 armor (except for Tessa's Fist because it quadruples my durability) and Elder maxson's Gatling Laser Final Judgement with over fifty fusion cores. By myself. I did end up having to abandon my power armor when it ended up at the bottom of the pool (I didn't think it was water, ok? Luckily I can breathe underwater), but I just took the one remaining intact piece and the fusion core, went back to the castle, repaired the pieces and put them all on another frame.
I have a similar mod and I brought 8 knights and 2 paladins only 1 paladin and 2 knights left 2 knights turned into ghouls and went feral
FCOM is an awesome mod for pairing with the Danse Dilemma. If you're the elder (mod restores a certain cut ending), you should be able to kick ass with an entire squad.
if this isn't a main plot point in fallout 5, i will be seriously disapointed
+matthew baker Their are aliens and elder gods and the game has them as side quests, got to love that.
safety was first..the first thing they didn't give a fuck about haha
"I went into a holy site in a quarry and killed raiders and ghouls for a comic book." - Every Fallout 4 Player.
Based on the rumbling and spooky noises, you'd think there would be a Glowing Deathclaw or something down there.
But, Nope! Just more Feral Ghouls.
You did a great job with this vid, thenthapple, Keep it up!
Darn, I jumped in with my Power Armor. Guess its there forever.
EXTREME FYI: If you get the minuteman quest to go over here and deal with the raiders, DO NOT GO INTO THE MINES! I just did this and figured I'd pick up the tooth while I was at it. It actually despawned the tooth. All mini nukes are still in their positions, but the tooth is gone. I've waited two full weeks in game now to try and respawn everything, but it's still borked.
It's amazing how there can be so many deep stories in just one game!
Thanks for doing this one, Apple. I'm on my second playthrough and it's still my favorite of the non-mission locations.
I'm so glad you did this I was really hoping you had seen this and I was stoked to see what all you got out of this
Yo fan theory time !!!!! So Bethesda already said made a connect between The elder Scrolls series and Fallout right. Well kinda the nirnroot is in fallout tho. So I watching this video on why the Dwemer, or Dwarves disappeared. the name if the video is Skyrim Lore: Dwemer Secrets! But in the video the guy said that Dwemer made a giant robot with the heart of a Daedric. They made this robot to defend their Kingdom. The robots name Numidium supposedly it could move through the plains of exist. The Morrowind lore there is no details as to what happen to Numidium, after the dark elfs tried to use Numidium’s heart for power. And its then there’s no more details about Numidium as to what happened to it. What if that giant is Numdium that some miners stumble upon by accident. It would make sense as that there is nothing on what happened to Numdium, and the way the stones are cut in the Borers. It could be that Dwemers, since they lived underground anyway, made the Borers to house the Numbium. I know it’s supposed to be a reference to the dunwich horror but it would be pretty cool if this was another connect to the Elder Scrolls series tho.
I accidentally fell in a water whole in power armor there. TALK ABOUT FEELING CLOSTROPHOBIC!
Been waiting for this one, didnt realize it had been out a few days already. Your speculation on the matter is always a joy to listen to and fills me in on things I missed during my own venture in. Thank you.
Man I really love your video , every time I cleared an area I always tune to your channel to know secrets that I didn't notice
"Shrivel a ballsack and pucker the asshole."
Yep, that about sums it up. I noped out of the Dunwich Building. Never worked up the courage to go in further. All those damn Feral Ghouls were horrible enough. When doors start shutting by themselves and shit falls without warning or explanation, its time to bail.
I found Dunwich Borers when I was going to the Museum of Witchcraft. I am hopeful yet certain that I explored the entirety of that rocky hell. Especially when the ghouls there were a pain to deal with. Even though I turned on the lights purposefully - even knowing that it'd attract ghouls inhabiting the place. And I thought the flashbacks were a nice touch, I once even said "So these ghouls are the ones I just saw in the memory... Hmm..." and tried to figure it out like you. XD
And the weapon at the end, oh my god. It's good to know that if you stay in water long enough you'll drown when not knowing what to do when you find some legendary, amazing weapon. I mean, there's so much to say... But, I just can't. I just don't know. It's strange. Oh... And also - One of us, one of us. Ug-Qualtoth is returned...
Hugo's Hole was quite the place, too.
thenthapple No other adjectives? Nothing to do with the utter creepy and empty atmosphere of the area?
Going through a rough time the now and needed this ,thanks man
Love these man. Always look forward to them on a weekend.
Dude you are so Goddamn saracastic in this fucking video..............
I fucking LOVE it. Keep up the good work M8!
I went to dunwitch borers just to get a comic book.
Kaiju Time Lord went there to assisinate a courser... for the Minutemen? (coulda sworn it was railroad)
I'm really glad you did this site. I've been meaning to suggest it since I found it weeks ago, but I kept getting distracted by the rest of Fallout 4
The name alone was enough for me to give this place a wide birth for quite a while
This entire area was basically a short horror game
I'm a safety manager and consultant. There's no satire in that first terminal's reports. That's just plain accurate.
Really enjoy your videos man, gives me something to look forward too! Keep up the great stuff!
Fantastic video! I went in there for something and didn't get to see the flash backs because I was scared shitless. I also didn't see the face because I didn't go into Hugo's hole before going into the quarry, so I couldn't stay under water for long. Thanks for going over all of that!
would be epic (and disturbing) if bethesda releases a dlc centering around this, and you end up going to an underground lost city (given the fact that there is a big portion of the map being covered by sea)
Sr Daney ? That's always been that way because it's Boston mass it's just 70% harbor
For the next one do a more vid on the school with all the kid gouls.
+thenthapple there is a school with little red gouls and with there size I'm am positive they are kids and they are red and there is something very suspicious about it and I want you to do a lore vid on it for your next video.
This dungeon really felt like the penumbra: black plague game. It was awesome but very scary since you never knew what you would find at the end.
When I came across that buried face for the first time, I genuinely was terrified. The only time in my life I felt true horror from a Fallout game.
I can't wait for GECK to be released. First thing I'm going to do is make the inside much darker.
I think there is already a mod for that, i think it's Fr4nsson's light tweaks. It only allows actual light sources and takes away fake lights to make the game darker and more "realistic".
+BWIENS789 i'm thinking of making a hp lovecraft mod with otherworldly symbiotes that can be used like power armor and evolve.
Guys (and Gals) Forget Power Armor.. Collect them as decorations for your base. I'm telling you Ballistic Weave is the way to go, add to that some modded out pieces of armor on top of the armored military fatigues and you got some pretty strong defense. Try it, you'll move a lot faster and shadow mod makes it so much fun killing enemies with "The Deliverer". You can also use "Deep Pockets" for each limb piece of armor greatly adding to your carry weight.
Came across Dunwich Borers when I was level something-teen after exploring Hugo's hole. Didn't go down the quarry because of all the raiders and power armor that would be against me. I never would have imagined. Awesome vid awesome stuff.
You're videos changes the way I play fallout cause I really never take the time to look at terminals. Great vids, keep it up
When I was a kid, I once found a stone that the shape of the head of some kind of creature when I was digging in the ground at the backyard(to my parents dismay) I was kinda fascinated by it and I still have it 15 years later, should I show it.
I was watching your FO3 dunwich video and i noticed that in Jaime's personal journal entry 09 he talks about a sharp knife in a deep temple. maybe this is that knife
Good thing you took a look at it. I kind of missed the backstory while going through it. Thank you
YESS this is one of the fo4 locations in specific that I was hoping you would do.
love this channel so much its amazing how funny you are and how well you understand the games lore and find the information you do
I went there to kill some Raiders for Preston. Seemed like a standard job at the time, Raiders were a bit challenging at times but not too bad. Killed their leader and prepared to leave, but not before a chained door caught my eye.
Ghouls? Huh, I thought, and pressed on. The light flickered, a vision of the past appears. I panicly press my VATS but find myself unable to identify the white-shirted miners. I walk forward and find myself fighting ghouls again...
That creeped me out, I was not expecting this whole thing. I just wanted to kill some Raiders for Preston...
Good thing Curie was by my side or I would have been terrified.
Look in to the "Mass Pike Tunnel".. I found something rather... creepy..
+Seamus sus Was that the tunnel with ferals and a glowing one? I don't remember anything particular creepy about it.
+Erwin Rommel West Mass Pike Tunnel has a bunch of ghouls yeah, but look around carefully and youll find a small child with a trike, and a bear, laying behind the broken sewer pipe.. as well as an altar that says 'all are welcome' a couple rooms away with toys and a bunch of teddy bears, how do i know its a kid?? you cant go near it, only a child could fit behind that pipe.. :/ wierder yet, when i looked at the skeleton the second time, it was thrashing around in the water all on its own.. didnt even touch it. could be a glitch or supernatural easter egg.
Emilio Risi I shall re-explore it as I was doing a Cleansing the Commonwealth radiant quest at the time and was worrying more about the glowing one than small details.
is there someone that could hack the map and see if something else is buried underneath? or maybe look at the game's code to see if DLC continuing this is foreshadowed at all?
i really enjoy all the research you've done
For the next one do the town filled with nothing but insane mr. Handy's
Nash Reeves General Atomics Galleria? If that's the one, talk to the manager Mr. Handy and get them reset, you just have to pass a speech check. I did that on my first playthrough. The next, I messed with them for fun. ...and Experience Points.
2spooky4me
Little did he know, it *was* the last we would see of this entity since it made no appearances in further DLCs.
thenthapple it sucks, they should have put something in far harbor, since it was basically point lookout with more side quests.
It's finals week, stop entertaining me!
I was hoping you'd go over this area. good job!
I'm happy you did a video on this place. idk how I missed the gigantic face at the bottom of that watery hole haha but was excited soon as I seen the name Dunwich to see what kind of weird shit was happening.
OH MY GOSH i actually left a theory comment on a video. ^-^ I can't believe I really did it, I know you probably wont read this but if you do mister ent apple then thank you very much for reading my idea. Maybe it could have a episode about it, lol probably not I am not smart enough to come up with anything that could really be true.
Totally love this series dude. Keep it up!
Sarcastic monotone and completely told the story as thoroughly as possible? You sir have impressed me and earned a sub for that.
The KREMVHs TOOTH was not ther for me only the 2 mini nukes wher at the bottem.
+TheName123456789 one time at Hugo's hole hugo's body wasn't there for me lol the glitches be asses
+TheName123456789 i got the knife, but all the monitors said the same thing the first monitor had, i gess we all have differnet problems,
I came across this place when i was low level and got my butt kicked, i promised myself i'd go back but I forgot. Its so cool you reminded me and I plan on re-visiting the location soon and finding/reading all the information you mentioned. Thanks!
3Spooky5Me
that legendary machete never spawned for me :(
+thenthapple I hope they patch it as it's the last legendary that I need.
+Dean Armstrong if u are on pc you can probably just spawn it in using console commands.
Whoa. Nice theory on The Shunned House. I'm pretty familiar with the full body of Lovecraft's work, and it never even dawned on me to draw that connection. Very neat.
Amazing video. I was wandering when I stumble accross this quary. This whole "dungeon" was a huge wtf.
How have you not rotted yet?
your a apple i thought apples rot over time, you been a apple for a long time...how come you have not rotted yet?
imagine that thing's eye opening when you go down there
Shit myself
thenthapple i just noticed how the giant head down there actually resembles the head metallic ststues all over the comonwealth or is it just me? here: m.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/48dz99/what_is_it_with_these_metal_statues_how_relevant/?compact=true
Maybe the giant modeled the masks after it.
Aníbal Pavão It is just one of those statues, you can see this by no clipping on PC.
@@anibalpavao4840 yeat its actually same, so why the project manager try hard to digging it? For.what?
