John 14: 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. 1 John 2: 3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 1 John 4: 9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. Romans 8: 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Acts 5: 32 And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.” Philippians 2: 12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

I’ve been listening to Ligonier for a few years now and I just realized how much this music reminds me of a BBC cooking show featuring Raymond Blanc, which I watched when I was younger. I’ve always wondered why these Ligonier’s videos make me feel like home, now I know 😊

Granting repentance through following Christ is not for everybody, "It is (only) for everyone our Lord God will choose."(Acts 2:39) It is God that predestined only certain souls to follow Christ for salvation (John 6:37), and others - those whose sins are too heavy in the sight of God- are already predestined for destruction. Therefore it is clear that Christ does not love everybody, he loves only the elect and He was sent to bring a sword against the ungodly. Everybody knows the times and the days we are in. The Gospel has been preached for hundreds of years now and has been concluded this days. The Day of The Lord is at the door approaching each second. Some take comfort in warning messages thinking "if there is a warning, then there is still time", being trapped in their hundreds and hundreds of years old delusion of thinking that God owes them love - and keep going in their wicked ways. They laughed at countless invitations to repentance, and now it's time for them to confront the fact that their heart has been hardened by God, for a sign of their destiny in the lake of fire, their sins being too heavy in the sight of God. Now it's their time to look back and contemplate in terror their lives of wickedness, and tremble at the words that God has spoken through the prophet Isaiah : "I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not listen. Don't you dare say that the blood of Jesus was only shed for the elect as scripture is crystal clear that he is the lamb of god that takes away the sins of the whole world. He paid the price for even those who reject him / don't receive him. His love towards every man is seen on display at Calvary's tree. None of us were worthy of his sacrifice.
Amen! Because it would contradict that God is just if we only preach of his love and grace. God is also holy. We can't ignore all the attributes of God and just pick one that suits us best.
As far as I understand it, Love isn't the only Attribute of God. He's also perfectly Just. It's not either / or with God, it's all His attributes combined that work together

The misunderstanding of divine love reminds me of Billy Joel’s lyric, “I love you just the way you are,“ which of course applies only to romantic love & even there isn’t always true - how many women describe their boyfriend or husband as a “project”?
The ironic thing is that the same objections RC places here against the unconditional love of God could be waged against the doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints.

This message is what the old Ligonier of RC was all about...unequivocal exposition of the true truth of Scripture and not some squishy reimagining of what GOD could have meant, which is a denial of the perspecuety of GOD's Word. GOD is eminently clear when he announces to the world that he is holy, holy, holy and that we are to be holy as He is holy. And THAT is the whole reason Christ invaded His own creation, for we have no power on our own to be holy as GOD is holy. And, it is in the forgiveness of Christ, we are to come on our knees before the thrice-holy sovereign GOD and confess our degeneracy and be joyful in Him who died for us and lives again and has paid for that degeneracy on the cross! So we are told to love our enemies, yet God hates his enemies? When you are told that you are held to a higher standard than God, you know their theology is wrong.
You misunderstand hate and love. God shows love to all by his general benevolence to all mankind. By sending sun, and rain etc. However he hates the wicked in sin. When we are told to Love our enemies, God is requiring us to do good to them as he does to all.
John 14:21 “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” John 14:23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. ( In essence, then , Unless you believe that I am He you will die in your Sin because what is happening there that since He is The WORD, one is calling God a liar, that which is Satan, the father of lies. We have one of two 'Fathers' in this universe, either Satan or The One True GOD, for 'he lied from the beginning and is the Father of It, but The LORD is Truth and there is Darkness in Him at all. Even if God does love you that does not mean one is 'free to be me' just as one pleases. He'll love you enough to damnation because it would pure 'hell' to be in heaven with Him forever when you do not Love Him in CHrist Jesus who died for us.
God's love is unconditional. "God demonstrated his own love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8). However, if we refuse to accept God's love and follow His will, His justice will punish us. God still loves us but He doesnt violate our freewill which is His gift to us. " I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

Brilliant.... I get scorned and mocked because I preach against the 'God loves the sinner, but hates the sin'... Psalm 5:5 makes it clear that sin can't abide near Him and he hates the one who practices lawlessness. Jesus made it clear that the majority of those who call him Lord Lord will be told to depart because they do not DO the will of God, and are workers of lawlessness (Matt 7:21-23).... yet these same people preach the law is obsolete and done away with... Reality is, they preach and practice the doctrine and deeds of the Nicolaitans which God hates - which is modern antinomianism. Jesus said the greatest commands are the Shema - love God with all your total being - they fail that. Then they fail loving their neighbour. They have a warped sense of what love is.... they think it is just a fuzzy feeling, when Paul says that love is fulfilling the law (Rom 13:8-10)
Understand that the word hate is often used figuratively just as in Luke 14:26 when Jesus said to hate your parents. John 3:16 says God loves the world. You were a sinner too at one time, remember? He loved you then, as He loves the world, which includes sinners. This doesn't mean He'll excuse their sin and just let them in heaven without them repenting and receiving Jesus. I have people in my family who do things that cause me to avoid being around them but I still love them. If God tells us to love our neighbors which happens to include sinners by the way, don't you think he loves them too?
@@CLCooper777 The OP asked the question of; "Is the love of GOD unconditional?' and the answer is clearly no it is not. You can deconstruct the word 'hate' all you want, but the fact is God thinks something other than love for people who are workers of lawlessness... Scripture is clear and unambiguous - God Hates those who are workers of lawlessness. And no matter how much you want to appeal to emotion and trying to twist scripture, the fact remains that God's love is conditional as per Psalm 5:5 Now we are not God, and neither is Yeshua, so we are called to love our neighbour etc etc.... but that was not the question asked... it was about God, not us.

God's love is unconditional and infinite and eternal. Nothing can separate us from God's love. Hell is a human construct, not God's. "Love is a river, swim in it"...
"That person must embrace Christ by faith and trust in Him alone" RC Sproul But according to Reformed theology the person can't have faith upon his own accord. We are all predestined for the lake of fire and Christ by His grace stands in the middle gap with open arms. The Heavenly Father's perfect will send His only begotten Son to show the world His love, the grace of God has been seen by all men, He gives rain to the just and the unjust. He loves His creation the story of Jonah. Where they willfully chose to humble themselves, repent, and turn their hearts to the Lord. Not once does it ever say the the Lord caused them to be humble and to repent. They heard the Word of the Lord (which is sharper than a two edged soul and perfect at converting the soul) and the chose to believe His Word. He unconditionally loved us all, He shows no partiality, hence why we have Christ. The just shall live by faith.
I assume the "it" would be Gods word that you are referring to? Gods word has many scripture that inform us that salvation is all a work of God and not ourselves. Man cannot willfully turn to Christ unless The Father draws him. God gives the heart of repentance and the measure of faith when we were dead in our sins. Dead is dead. Dead man cannot seek life; he is dead! Faith comes by hearing the word of God(Romans 10:9-10) We are saved 'through' our faith but we must repent and turn from our sins. The whole word of God is useful to understanding Gods character and not just a few scripture here and there taken out of context. “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:4-5). Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.” 2 Timothy 2:25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, Romans 10:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. John 6:44“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me-… John 6:39 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. John 6:40 For it is My Father's will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:65 Then Jesus said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him."
"Is the Love of God Unconditional?" ABSOLUTELY YES! Kind Sir...and remember: Jesus is the ONLY true God! However the "wrath" of Jesus will, In essence, cause some to believe His love is conditional. But that belief is incorrect. Thus: this is what happens... Leviticus 26:28 Then I (Jesus) will walk contrary (against) you also in fury (wrath); and I, even I, will chastise ("punish" in today's English language) you seven times for your sins. Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of Jesus (the Christ/Messiah), our Lord God. In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
God does not love everybody. Our God - the only God - is a God of justice and Judgement. He hates the ungodly and predestined them for the lake of fire. Do not despise the prophecies and understand what is clearly stated in the Gospel about predestination. Even Elijah was sent at the manifestation of the Rev 12 sign, and The Day of The Lord is at the door approaching each second. You did evil in My sight and chose what displeases Me." "So I will choose their punishments and will bring on them what they dread”
R.C. Sproul doesn't understand Reformed Theology. On Calvinism the Calvinist Gods love is *CONDITIONED* upon his whimsical and impersonal predestining of the elect to Heaven and the non-elect to Hell prior to creation. The elect he loves and the non-elect he hates before he ever creates them.

This is not what Jesus said. Jesus taught, lived, walked and talked unconditional love and forgiveness from our loving Father. This also fits in with the experiences of people who have gone to Heaven and come back. The Bible has misrepresented God and Jesus and hopefully soon people will tidy it up and stop preaching eternal condemnation in a lake of fire by a God who never would inflict such cruelty. How can a God who taught emotional maturity then become such a sinner Himself?

This message is what the old Ligonier of RC was all about...unequivocal exposition of the true truth of Scripture and not some squishy reimagining of what GOD could have meant, which is a denial of the perspecuety of GOD's Word. GOD is eminently clear when he announces to the world that he is holy, holy, holy and that we are to be holy as He is holy. And THAT is the whole reason Christ invaded His own creation, for we have no power on our own to be holy as GOD is holy. And that brings us around to the liberal fallacy that GOD loves you just AS you are...NO, He does NOT...He loves us in spite of the degenerate slugs that we all are. And, it is in the forgiveness of Christ, we are to come on our knees before the thrice-holy sovereign GOD and confess our degeneracy and be joyful in Him who died for us and lives again and has paid for that degeneracy on the cross! Maranatha!
The Love from God is not unconditional and never has been. He has always demanded something, or something in return.

God does not love everybody. Our God - the only God - is a God of justice and Judgement. He hates the ungodly and predestined them for the lake of fire. Do not despise the prophecies and understand what is clearly stated in the Gospel about predestination.
Granting repentance through following Christ is not for everybody, "It is (only) for everyone our Lord God will choose."(Acts 2:39)
It is God that predestined only certain souls to follow Christ for salvation (John 6:37), and others - those whose sins are too heavy in the sight of God- are already predestined for destruction.
Now it's their time to look back and contemplate in terror their lives of wickedness, and tremble at the words that God has spoken through the prophet Isaiah :
"I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not listen. You did evil in My sight and chose what displeases Me."
"So I will choose their punishments and will bring on them what they dread”
John 15: 9 Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
Acts 5: 32 And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Philippians 2: 12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
@@bartleon For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
God didn’t say love your enemies. God said.. “agapeo tous echthrous “.

John 14:21 “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me.
Its the opposite we are required to love God unconditionally, God is not required to love us at all
Do you believe that God loves who he is? He made us for His Image, according to His own likeness.
And no matter how much you want to appeal to emotion and trying to twist scripture, the fact remains that God's love is conditional as per Psalm 5:5
Now we are not God, and neither is Yeshua, so we are called to love our neighbour etc etc.... but that was not the question asked... it was about God, not us.

"That person must embrace Christ by faith and trust in Him alone" RC Sproul
But according to Reformed theology the person can't have faith upon his own accord.
Acts 11:18
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”
2 Timothy 2:25
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,
Romans 10:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
John 6:44“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me-…
John 6:39
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.
John 6:40
For it is My Father's will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
John 6:65
Then Jesus said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him."

Deffinately NOT.
If you do this, I'll do that.
If you don't do this, I'll do that.

"Is the Love of God Unconditional?"
ABSOLUTELY YES!
