My friend has a full built 2016 custom Silverado 5.3L Double cab 6'5" box 4x4. 2" Level, Intake, headers, true dual exhaust, performance valves, a very aggressive camshaft, upgraded piston rings and some other internal upgrades. He ran a 13.6sec Quarter mile last summer with it. He has a twinturbo kit and intercooler for it he just hasn't gotten around to putting it on yet. Lol
Have a 2021 carbon pro at4 with GMC cold air and catback….she gets up and moves plenty fast. The 10 speed has been much better than the old 8 speed in my 2017 Denali i had.
@@ShariaLawAllDay I’ve owned both and currently in a RST with a 6.2 10 speed. Absolutely magnificent drivetrain and yes it’s that much better than the 5.3. I had a 2016 with a 5.3 6 speed auto, good truck but this one is soooooo much better
@@user-xk1uy7ze9z Starts you off better. Manually shift into the gear you want to start the race in, once you floor it just shift into drive and you're good to go. Makes a big difference.
The 6.2 is much faster than the 5.3 but if you’re not racing and you’re just towing little things 5.3 is the way to go if you like going fast 6.2 is pretty fun.
It's a friendly race but a 5.3 tune, cold air, long tube headers, 3" exhaust vs My 6.2 just colder air basically Stock. I think it's a fair race LOL. Thanks for your comment👍

Well my truck is the black one. The one that came out in front. At that time I had my truck stock only cold air and no exhaust, no Tune. The GMC from my friend is a 5.3 tune headers and cold air. Thanks for your comment 👍
@@elcuate6.2ltx2 E85 and possibly a better tuner could close the gap. I have the same mods as this 5.3 but with the 6.2 manifold/TB and E85 and I can beat a stock 6.2 by a half a truck. FWIW I get the exact same results racing the new body Ram Rebels with the hemi and 4.10s…I’m throwing 4.10s in mine and retuning then I’m done with this truck. Could I be faster if I had started with a 6.2? Sure, but pulling on the 50k+ luxury trucks in my $31k LT puts a smile on my face. If you really want to get serious you can supercharge either one and max out around the same HP. Fueling becomes the limiting factor at that point, not cubic inches.

The hand on shifter always gets me.
Well these new trucks just have a downshift button up or down you just got to get used to it
It only hold the highest gear you want.... not a manual mode. You can click it into drive and it does the same thing.

They are the same GEN V a 2014 GMC 5.3L/6 speed and a 2015 SILVERADO 6.2L/8 speed
It allows you to get an extra 450-500rpms if you time it right.

Just day before this race the 6.2 was dyno tuned with exhaust intake plus bolt ons and comparing it to a stock 5.3 with a exhaust 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

It’s better if you just leave it in drive and turn off traction control! The manual shifter is used for towing

Depends which 5.3 and which 6.2. Same gen vs same gen then sure. But 08 6 speed 6.2 would lose to a '20 5.3 with a tune and FBO
