    5.3 are definitely slow, but they're designed and tuned for fuel efficiency. If I could do it all over knowing what I know now I would definitely have shopped around until I found the 6.2 configuration that I was happy with.
    I ended up with a truck I was happy with except it had a slow 5.3. I started the mods almost immediately because of how sluggish it felt. I'm still modding, but so far I'm happy with the results. So far after the whipple went in I upgraded to the lt5 throttle body and pieced together a really cool custom intake and upgraded maf sensor. Next? Inline fuel pump and probably hpfp while lt4 injectors are being done...wish I had done that during the blower install. Finishing off with a pulley swap and custom tune engine and transmission. That'll be the end of that project.
    I have to admit that if I had the 6.2 from the start I would have only put in a cai and canned tune and called it good. It was having to commit to serious mods with the slow ass stock 5.3 that got me into real mods.
    Second time around I'll start with the biggest engine I can get, pull the engine out and strengthen the internals, cam swap for higher fuel lobe and then start a new FI build.
    It'll be a couple of years... I'm hoping the new GM interiors are worth the upgrade.

    Great video bro. It's nice to see the 5.3 getting some love. Definitely got some decent power and performance gains, especially for those who cant afford a new 6.2 or a Coyote F150.

  • @codykalendek8702
    @codykalendek8702 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not hating on the 5.3 but the 6.2 is so much easier to get power out of. I’m makiMing about 550ish with headers true duals cai ported l86 manifold lt5 tb built heads bigger injectors and fuel pump with 4.56 gears front and rear. Factory cam but does have Johnson lifters amd tuned for e85. Whipple coming soon with even bigger injectors. What killed my power was 7” of lift and 35s it should’ve made more but tires killed it. It still hangs with the 392 scat craps and the hellcats but I usually have to catch them. I raced a full bolt on and cammed 5.3 right after I got my work done and even with a cam the 5.3 fell on it face. But it’s mainly a work horse motor not really built to make big power easily with out boost

    • @btownballer27
      @btownballer27 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Built heads is a huge difference, breaths better and bigger fuel pump makes a big difference after you do all of that. Yeah the 6.2 is easier to gain power, it's a bigger motor with higher compression that was designed for that. They just decided to jam it into a truck lol.
