Speed and power comes after the basics. I learned from Hung Fut and we have very similar techniques but this guy is an true Kung Fu martial artist. Great form, speed and down to the little details.

Please show it in India or anywhere you are going or this art will die with many of the Kung Fu arts that have already been lost. You are one of the very few that provide dedication and commitment to this art and I can see you had a really good Sifu that taught you really well down to the basics. Not many Sifus can demonstrate in detail with speed and power the true practicality of the art. Much love to you.

    I took Hung Ga Kuen for 11 years in the 1970’s and very early 80’s. I got up through Gung Gi and Fu Hok forms, and while we sparred hard in my school and were good compared to some other schools, I NEVER was taught the applications of the forms anywhere near as well as what I’m seeing in this video. The majority of people (students OR instructors) doing forms are just going through moves that they never wind up understanding or being able to apply in any useful sense.
    I’m very impressed by this demonstration by Sifu Kanishka, and (were he around then) he certainly could have improved my abilities vastly when I was a young man.

    Love this..I especially loved the first technique because so many techniques in ITF TaeKwon-Do and Karate have that crossing and then uncrossing movement seen in the first technique you demonstrated. BUT, most Karate-Ka /TKD people focus ONLY on the uncrossing part of the movement. You've shown that the FIRST part of those movements, the crossing, need to be taken seriously too. I do ITF TaeKwon-Do and your're making me re-examine and see new possibilities in lots of my techniques. Thank you for that, Laoshi!! I appreciate you.

      Silat is truly a watered down Kung Fu system as well as Karate. Krav Maga combined mostly Japanese Karate and Aikido principles together along with kickboxing as well. Better to stick with Shaolin Kung Fu as it has clear form and to me is more efficient. If you see this guy does everything so effortlessly. What he’s demonstrating is not easy at all.

    You are an awesome teacher!! You make sense of these traditional styles/techniques in this modern era. I've trained in Hung Gar Kuen and been involved with many teachers. This is the best and closest I've seen to the style being pragmatic and useful in MMA and real life combat with the exception of the double arm grab. I don't get why and when or how often someone would grab your arms and at that area?

    Kung Fu fascinates me because I did ITF Taekwondo in high school and this is a completely different philosophy and different movements. I like how Kung Fu seems to emphasize hands more because I never had the leg control or flexiblity to do some of the advanced kicking techniques in TKD.
    Sifu, is Hung Gar practiced at the Shaolin Temple? On their web site it sounds like they only use Sanda for sparring...I would want to learn how to spar using the traditional movements, especially from a style of Kung Fu that emphasizes hands and uses few kicks. :)

    I believe this master do a lot work with hung gar 拳 on it, I’m Chinese and I been training southern mantis 拳 and wing chun 拳 since I was 15 years old,I’m 49 this year, doesn’t matter fake or Real master because all those Kung fu technique all most doesn’t work in real fight or in sparring

    • @onlinewong06143413
      @onlinewong06143413 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not really, i dont know much about wing chun but i could name some of the hung gar techniques that are also being used in MMA, sanda and boxing
      i wont tell all of them work but part of it is effective
      you could find similar wrestling and striking techniques between boxing, judo and hung gar suggest that it is at least partly effective
      but judo, boxing and MMA are good and practical though
