Hi from central Otago southern New Zealand 👋😃 I'm a beekeeper and some of these ancient techniques are still used, catching swarms in swarm boxes using wood painted with beeswax is still a great way to encourage a swarm of bees to move in, don't use honey if you try it or they'll just think there's food and won't stay, and rendering beeswax on a small scale is still done the exact same way, in fact I did a small batch just like this for a hobbyist a few days ago myself 😂 amazing video and nice little hives too ( although I almost cried when I saw the frame containing a lot of packed pollen you put in to render because I always keep those ones for the bee's myself 😅) amazing 😃 thank you for a incredible video 👍👋

I love pure bee wax candles … not only are they smokeless but they carry a beautiful scent of the nectar from the flowers and other plants the bees feed from . 😊 . I however prefer to keep a “healthy” distance from bees as I am allergic to bee venom 😊.
Hi from southern New Zealand 👋😃 I'm a beekeeper and yes I do get stung😂 it's just part of it but rendering and cleaning beeswax is one of my favorite jobs, it takes a while but it's worth it 😃 if you like beeswax candles and want to make your own, you can buy sheets of beeswax to roll for candles. It's called "foundation" we use it as a base for the bee's to make wax comb from. The best for candle making is called "full depth medium brood wax foundation" be sure it's wax😂 because some places sell plastic foundation 😂 look it up if you're interested 👋👍

Beeswax is also used by the Eastern Orthodox Church and still in use
A lot of denomination's and churches use beeswax candles, most catholic monastarys and abbey's had a beekeeper and some still do. I'm a beekeeper by the way 👋😃 and I have a american friend called Jeff Horchoff who is the Abbey beekeeper for the Benedictine monks at Saint Joseph Abbey in Southeast Louisiana, about 50 miles north of New Orleans.
