thank you big A'l i watch all your videos and i know they take time to make and edit i hope in the future you will make more longer instructional videos like this one, i always practice shooting shots against the rail and you have given me some some great info on how to approach and practice these shots, thank you so much!
You do a great job explaining. I have a suggestion, not a complaint. When you are demonstrating a shot, sometimes you request the viewer to imagine other balls, be they blocker or the next object ball. Since we are learning both auditorally and visually, it would help me wee little brain to actually see the other imaginary balls. Again, great job, and thanks for the instruction.
Great vid, Al! I'm using DrDave's SAWS for aiming with side spin, and Earl's trick has always baffled me. I'm assuming it's 100% back-hand side spin, but at that speed, normal low-deflection queues would aim straight. Is it parallel English?
@@BigAlsBilliards I fully understand that. DrDave's SAWS is all about compensating for deflection and swerve by balancing front-hand and back-hand English. That's why I don't get it when a tutorial just says "add spin", there are many ways to do, resulting in very different outcomes. Earl's trick is like that, and really feels like a hack without proper distinction of the different kinds of applying sidespin.
Shame those shots at the start don't work on an English (UK) pool table, we literally have to ensure the ball goes down against the rail because the pockets are so tight ( some UK pool tables, like the ones on the TV for UK 8 ball tournaments actually do have bigger pockets than in pool clubs/pubs - I can only guess for entertainment value? 🤷🏻♂️) but anyway, all those shots at the start would have rattled the pocket or bounced completely out. Still, good tips 👍🏻
Or Chinese tables. I hear ya. Mine are tighter than most North American / European tables @4" With 2.25" balls, that leaves 1.75" space. My pockets rattle out fairly easy too. Not as much as the average UK table though. Although, at soft pace, you can still run them down the rail, and they do fall, even on UK tables. Not quite like in Snooker. UK table also have easier side pockets in my opinion. Slanted pocket jaws add a different element to the shot, in many cases.
So that 1st shot you set up being a diamond apart, ive got a guy I shoot with that always thinks he's the best, so would I be good to bet him 100 a shot on not being able to make that? Say for 10 shots do you think I would come out ahead?
Al....u need to say exactly where ur hitting the cue on the object ball... I prefer hitting the cue ball top center and lowering the butt of cue and hit the object ball and rail at the same time
Well that means you are intent on learning. Good stuff. I know, I also hate trying to drag the time back with your finger. It either doesn't move or goes back way too far. Lol Thx for watching!
Great video, lots of good advice. I definitely prefer these longer formats

Doesn't matter what cue you have, when hitting at a firm pace, you will get Deflection.
Maybe not as much as some cues, but a little nonetheless.

On 4" pockets
6 diamonds out
1 diamond separation
Both frozen
Yes!
Although, I'd give him 5 attempts. 😁
@BigAlsBilliards only 5, I talking 100 per shot so potentially 1000 dollars
what if it is a double or triple combination?
Not talking about combos in this vid.
@@BigAlsBilliardsit's a difficult shot for me anyway thank you for the reply. your videos are awesome.
1st and 2nd bottom right.

Need a button to fast forward or rewind 10seconds at a time. It’s hard watching on a phone to rewind just a little to go back and watch again.
Well that means you are intent on learning. Good stuff.

It either doesn't move or goes back way too far. Lol

Mine does exactly that when u double tap on the video face. Right side fast forwards it 10sec, left side rewinds 10secs.
One word: spreadsheet.
After th 27th. ‘OK ? ‘ I couldn’t handle it any longer
