Long time viewer here. As bow hunters, we all make bad decisions and shots. It’s inevitable. But the difference in this case is that you defend the shot, rather than admitting it was high risk and not a good shot to take. I hope new and future hunters understand that, and look at this video as an example of what not to do.

Definitely agree with this comment. No way in hell that is where he was aiming, at least I hope not!
Just own up to it that you made a bad shot, it happens.

@@johnmoor86 He got lucky as hell, doesn't change the fact that it was a stupid shot. You're clearly the same kind of idiot who'd take that shot and defend it

Congrats Jeremy on a biggin!!! It’s so enjoyable watching you take us back to your past magical deer honey holes, describing the awesome adventures, harvests, and soulful fulfillment achieved! It truly shows your love for the wilderness and Whitetails. It’s those memories and special places in the deer woods that keeps us coming back for more. Thanks for sharing your passion and teaching us along the way.👍💪🏼

Dan Fitzgerald has used vanilla for years. Actually marketed a scent called “ Vanilla Killa “. I use pure gum spirits of turpentine and had great success over the years. Keep up the good work!

I have been using OdorZone Fresh Earth. It smells like dirt. Comes also in canister with wafers you can pin to your hat, clothes etc. Try it. Watching your videos and all public land hunter’s is away for me to relax at night while trying to fall asleep. At 72 it brings back memories. Haven’t retired yet, but when I do, if my health holds up, I am going to do it again around the neighboring states of Ohio. Wife says have fun but be safe. Hope to run across paths someday. By the way, nice harvest.

Congratulations Jeremy! Thank you for having the courage to encourage your fans to get out and get after it. Your thoughts of enjoying the journey these hunts provide are very relatable. God bless and good luck on the remainder of your season.

Your are very correct about the fact that we pay for a hunting license not a killing license
But in Kansas and I’m sure other big deer states have the same issue
Where so many private land owners are more willing to have people pay thousands of dollars to hunt small pieces of land for a chance at big deer
And that causes more and more hunters using public lands to hunt but the state’s are not gaining land for public use and wat we have are becoming overwhelmed with people who can’t afford to hunt private land

I watched a video years ago on a test with whitetail and scents. They used everything including Aqua Velva. All the deer were curious enough to smell everything from interdigital to cologne.
The wind is the most important but it doesn't hurt to mask human scent. I met Dan Fitsgerald at the AMO show in 2001 , now the ATA, along with Nugent who flirted with my wife instead of signing his book I purchased😆.
I remember purchasing a case of 100 yo aged deer scent and asked my employees how are we going to sell this deer pee? The best part was we sold the whole case and everyone had a great encounter with it. I couldn't believe !
I even had a buck smell and lick tabacco spit at the base of my tree, when I still dipped.
I still believe in anything that cover your scent and you believe in, can't hurt and may save your hunt in some situation but still hunt the wind.
Craziset story I've ever had happen with a buck and his ability to smell where my rubber boot crossed his path. I thought this was a sure thing and did everything by the book but when he crossed my trail in, he droped down on all four and backed up until he felt safe enough to stand and run. It was crazy as if he knew to get low and out of sight. Good luck and fantastic videos.
Your channel and THP are by far the most down to earth and make us feel we are hunting with you!🦌

So, were you aiming for the hind quarter? I figured you would aim behind rib to drive up in vitals. That artery is lethal but it’s a low percentage shot in my experience. Just curious was you actually aiming for the hind quarter? I would use that arrow all the time, that’s definitely a lucky arrow. Glad you got him, but that could’ve easily went the other way. I know you’ve done this a long time, I just can’t imagine you aiming for the hind quarter. Congrats on the Iowa big buck. Glad you recovered him & got footage for us.

@@maj3stikq122 Texas heart shot is up the rear. The way that deer was standing walking away, I would’ve aimed behind last rib where it would go through vitals. Back leg artery is not the pump station. It’s deadly if you sever it, but if you aim for that leg, more often than not that deer will run off & you never find it. He didn’t get much penetration, hit very lucky. I’m not demeaning Jeremy, I love these boys, they’re my favorite. I’m just telling it like it is. They built this channel on hard work, HONESTY , if it ever strats from that, the ship will sink. I invited Daniel to come hunt w me in a jam up public spot in the south. Frog is welcome too.

@@hop1414 It’s my favorite show, but he wasn’t telling the truth in that video. I would tell my best friend same thing. I’m not the only one who said he didn’t own that. I was very surprised that he didn’t. Last year when Daniel shot that buck in Kansas, he hit him back and hit that artery. He said I made a bad shot , but nevertheless the deer is dead 80 yards.

We use to put cotton balls in a jar and mix vanilla and mineral oil. Then we would rub it on our boot and shove the cotton ball under our shoe lace to stay during the hunt.
