I love that you talk to a wide variety of folks at these big events. It's not just racers. It's awesome to see people like Molly, Marley, and some of the average Joe's represented. The inclusivity is really one of the things that I hope doesn't get lost as gravel racing gets even bigger.

Agreed. There's no shortage of 'elite' wannabe channels. This channel appeals to all serious cyclists, many of them not into racing. A lot of those folks appearing would just be great fun to ride with, and not fixated by winning.

I am 16 years old but last summer i went bike packing with a couple of friends and nobody had a gps so we used my Garmin vivoactive 4 for navigation. but we realised the battery wasn’t big enough to use the whole day that’s when we went to buy a map and highlighted our route. There was no phone connection so we also couldn’t use them that’s why it would probably be helpful for the bike-packing trip this summer in the alps. Greetings from belgium 🇧🇪 . Keep the gravel content coming, absolutely loving it!

I'm Paul's wife. He has absolutely no sense of direction and has just started leading club rides (they're VERY short of leaders!). Obviously, this means that I'm designing routes on Garmin Connect and loading them onto our Edge 530s. Unknown to him, I'm riding behind him giving the signals just before to the group behind before he does (he's missed a few turnings). For being such a supportive wife and a saint, I would love the new Garmin head unit. P.S I discovered Cade Media, whilst lying in bed with a fractured pelvis after a 'slide' before Christmas. I actually saw you and Justin on Katie's channel, when she came out to the USA! We then binge watched your whole trip with Justin - we're now hooked. We especially love your unbiased reviews of cheap bikes and now check before making any decisions on purchases. 🌟

As someone only recently getting into cycling it's really cool to see how enthusiastic people at the event are! I know weight isn't everything but it's fun to see a little competition! I've been training for the London to Brighton and while it's not a long one in cycling terms, it's going to be challenge for me! I'd love an actual bike computer, using my watch as a bike computer works but isn't ideal :D

Love the bike weight videos, loads of 12+kgs, once again showing how little weight actually matters. That dual suspension gravel bike was certainly a sight! Good luck to whoever needs the Garmin. Personally, I don't have any bike computer at all, but for the moment, my phone makes do until the battery runs out! O7

I've not cycled for years, now at 32 I bought my first entry level road bike, well gravel bike to be exact but it was all the same to me back then, in February and cycled from London to Barcelona in March using my girlfriends Garmin Venu watch. Absolutely, fell in love with cycling since, and a proper bike computer would be soooo good. Love your videos, the quality of the edit, the energy and most of all the genuine fun with cycling and people you that you show.

Awesome seeing all these people having fun at this event.
I don't own a GPS right now and just use my phone in my back pocket to track my path. Would be awesome to be able to plan my path ahead of time and discover more of the area. Also I could use this for offroad since I just finished rebuilding an oldish 26er of mine for the occasional fun ride in the woods

As someone who has owned a road bike for literally 2 months, I now find myself feeling as though I’ve missed out on years of fun! Now I guess I’m trying to make up for my whole life, riding most days and loving every second. The goal this summer is to do 100 miles in one ride, a major challenge but one that I am determined to complete and hopefully raise some money for charity along the way. In preparation, I’ve been watching hours worth of your videos for all the beginner tips and advice. A new garmin would complete my start-up kit, especially as it would upgrade the 20 year hand-me-down cycle computer from my dad. Anyway, thanks for another great video!🎉

Hi, I´m pretty new to gravel. I bought cannondale topstone 2 for my student's savings and instantly fell in love with riding. This bike was my dream. I'm slowly upgrading my gear and I would really appreciate tracking my improvement and plan out awasome routs here in Czechia. We have awasome gravel trails through large forests and it would be great to stop getting lost almost every time.

Hi Francis I've been watching the channel for a while and this channel is one of the reasons why I decided to start taking road cycling more seriously. Been using my phone with a quadlock as a 'bike computer' for a while now and as I begin to go for longer rides and take the sport more seriously I would love a bike computer to help improve the quality of my rides!! Keep up the great work on the channel :)

    Hey guys 🙌🏼 great video!!
Thanks for all the great content 👍🏻
It would be awesome if my son Mason won your giveaway! We live on the south course out of Emporia. You guys and Katie stopped at our driveway. We were handing out cold water, soda, and candy all day to Unbound riders.
We handed out 25 cases of water, 14 cases of soda, 20 bags of gummy worms, 2 cases of beer, and filled 100 gallons worth of water bottles. We’re around mile 75 on the 100.
My junior high son Mason has recently really gotten into riding and did his first 25 mile last week! A Garmin GPS for his bike would be awesome 👏🏼

Lots of positive energy at the Garmin unbound stand 🙌🏼 Last weekend I was riding with my mates in de Ardennes. My current head unit doesn't give me a slope angle. So I got dropped every time we hit a steep part because I pushed to hard on de flatter parts 😅. Besides that my head unit died after 6 hours on the bike. You could say I can use a Garmin Edge 540😅.

  • @owend94
    @owend94 ปีที่แล้ว

Great vid! I held off on getting a Garmin for as long as possible, as I was sure the 540/840 ones were just around the corner, but I caved and got an 830 towards the end of last year because my phone stopped having enough battery to last more than 2 hours riding. Then they announced the 540/840 a few months later 😐 i'd love the upgrade as my 830 doesn't automatically detect climbs and do ClimbPro when you aren't navigating a preset course, which would be incredibly useful to me

This was really interesting, I, getting into riding seriously again after a break and diving deep into exploring the off the beaten tracks on long rides. Great fun, but I definitely end up a bit lost when I find a trail I like and my fenix is hard pushed to get me home!
Loved seeing even an organiser race have the misadventures I've had recently before it dried up locally.

Always fun to see the weight difference between gravel bikes vs the road bikes!
My bike computer had a tendency to refuse to connect to my power meter ONLY on race days. Then it stepped it up last weekend by refusing to turn on at all before state championships. So, needless to say, a functioning bike computer would be very welcome haha.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity you've presented to your audience by giving away the Garmin 840 bike computer. As an avid cyclist, I believe I have a compelling reason why this device would greatly benefit me and enhance my cycling experience.
First and foremost, the Garmin 840 would undoubtedly become an invaluable tool for me to track and analyze my cycling performance. With its advanced GPS capabilities and comprehensive data metrics, I would be able to monitor my speed, distance, elevation, and heart rate with precision. This knowledge would not only allow me to set personal goals but also help me understand my strengths and weaknesses, enabling me to improve my overall cycling performance.
Moreover, the Garmin 840's navigational features would be a game-changer for my cycling adventures. As someone who loves exploring new routes and discovering hidden gems, the device's detailed maps and turn-by-turn directions would provide me with confidence and reassurance during unfamiliar rides. The ability to plan routes in advance and seamlessly follow them using the Garmin 840 would open up a world of exciting possibilities and help me take my cycling to new and unexplored territories.
In addition to its performance and navigational capabilities, the Garmin 840 offers valuable safety features that are paramount in today's cycling landscape. The incident detection and assistance features provide an extra layer of security, ensuring that if an unfortunate event occurs, my loved ones will be immediately notified. This peace of mind would allow me to fully immerse myself in the joy of cycling, knowing that I have a reliable device looking out for my safety.
Lastly, I firmly believe in the power of sharing knowledge and experiences. Winning the Garmin 840 bike computer would enable me to create informative and engaging content on my own TH-cam channel. Have been creating videos but haven't released any yet, winning this would be the sign to a great start by documenting my cycling journeys, providing insightful reviews, and demonstrating the various functionalities of this remarkable device, I could inspire and educate fellow cyclists in the community, ultimately fostering a spirit of growth, support, and camaraderie among riders.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly believe that the Garmin 840 bike computer would be an absolute game-changer for me and my cycling endeavors. Its performance tracking, navigational capabilities, safety features, and the potential to create meaningful content align perfectly with my aspirations as a cyclist and content creator. Thank you for considering my entry, and regardless of the outcome, I genuinely appreciate the opportunity you've provided to all of us. Keep inspiring and empowering cyclists around the world.
    Best regards,
    Doodeep Gogoi

I deserve the Garmin because my biking adventures are like a comedy show in themselves. With a Garmin, I'll no longer have to rely on my "instincts" that always seem to lead me to dead ends, muddy puddles, and the occasional encounter with a confused cow. Plus, with a Garmin, I can finally put an end to my "world record" for the most u-turns in a single bike ride. Who knows, with a reliable GPS, I might even make it to my destination without accidentally biking into a parade or mistaking a bike lane for a go-kart track. Happy navigating, adventurer!

Yesterday (june 10th) I rode the first 100km bike race of my life. I managed to beat my goal by 10 minutes but had to fight hard not to break down in the strong headwind that came in the last 30 kilometers. Right now, I'm using my phone as a bike computer which, as you understand, is not optimal. In the middle of the race my siblings decided to have the longest conversation of the year in our joint conversation and I just had to accept the notifications that popped up. A bike computer would not only let me escape my (beloved) siblings for a day but also help me on my way to new goals! Maybe it will be the Vätternrundan 315km next year?!

I've been training solo for 100miles on a 40 year old Peugeot with friction shifters. At best, on the road it is sketchy as heck. At worst, at mile 34, I am not at 100% concentration and can miss out on crucial environmental cues (like cars behind me). The head unit will really help me with hydration and food alerts, and I will be pairing it with a Varia so I get peace of mind. Currently I use a Garmin watch, but just the act of looking at it while on the road is more dangerous!

For the past 6 years I ride for a charity called the Great Cycle Challenge which raises money to battle childhood cancer. Every year I increase my miles, this year I will be riding 1234 miles (1986KM). I live in Clearwater Florida. My goal is to ride to Pensacola Fl and back, which is close to 1000 miles, in less then a week. The challenge lasts through the month of September. My longest ride is 330 miles nonstop and 515 miles in less than 3 days with less than 6 hours of sleep. I have an older Garmin Edge 520 that I purchased in 2016. It has seen better days. The screen is coming unglued and the recharge port works intermittently. Thank you!

I want a bike computer because the navigation would inspire me to go places I don't know, and exploration is what I love about cycling.

I’ve just moved to Canada, been riding my 520 for some years and now the battery dies in two hours and I want maps to explore the area. I am thinking about an upgrade to the 540 solar but a free 840 sounds great. Thanks for the content, I’ve been supporting the channel for some years and I love it! Keep crushing it and good luck everyone 😊

Love seeing all the different types of set-ups people opt for. I'd love to win the head unit so that I can up my training. My phone works okay for navigating, but it's time to take things to the next level.

Picture this: a daring cyclist on a grand adventure, conquering mountains, navigating through the urban jungle, and chasing new personal records. But alas! My trusty old cycling computer, or should I say 'outdated calculator,' just can't keep up with my epic cycling feats anymore. It's like trying to navigate with a map from the Stone Age while everyone else has GPS.

Liking the new content you and Jimmy are filming together. I’d love a new garmin as my edge explore broke last summer and I fixed it by gluing a 3d printed adapter to the back so I could still mount it to my bars. Can’t afford a new one just now 😂

Last time I've been on a trip we've got lost and then I've stupidly crashed 20 minutes to the end of the ride after 15 hours of cycling (still healing :D). I've ordered a new bike and Garmin would be a great addition to the package, since I'm planning ultramarathons and bikepacking! Was thinking about 530 Performance Bundle, but you can show me why 840 is better!
P.S Great channel, love informative videos - bike fit tuesdays, gear comparisons and tips that you share, really helpful for inexperienced rider like me :)

Fun watching all the bikes being weighed. You can tell pretty much which ones are former roadies and which ones come from mountain biking.😉.
The course this year was Type 2 fun. The mud😆 they'll remembering that for years to come.
    I am a Wahooligan😊. Let's see if Garmin can change that. 😆🧁

Cheers from Athens! Would love trying out this 840, although the need for an rtl seems bigger with all that traffic and the lack of bike lanes 😢..
Great video as usual, great content as always!

I'm heading on a bike trip across Europe this summer, camping along the way but currently don't have a GPS device that has proper mapping, so the Garmin 840 would really help me out!!

Very cool to see all the people there and the bikes and setups! I would love to win that Garmin 840. Then I could find new places to ride with it, which would be really fun!

As a newer gravel cyclist that has been computer-less from the very beginning, I’m often reminded of the luxury that one of these devices are on group rides and out with friends. Can’t afford one at the moment but that doesn’t discourage me from getting out there and enjoying the ride. Getting one would enhance my experience and motivation greatly!

I really like these types of videos, it is interesting to see the bikes people ride at Garmin Unbound. I've never had a Garmin before and my bryton 330 I bought when I started cycling started dying recently, so the edge 840 would really come in handy. :)
