@@filipborin555 the weight was not an accident. It makes the ride, quieter and smoother. If you get a V6 then yeah it feels slow but with a V10 or W12 then it feels fast at any speed!
I have been there several times. This was real passion and quality! But Mr. Diess was not able to sell. I have driven this type several times and it always was a full pleasure. So sad about his decision to discontinue. Here on TH-cam you can see videos about the following developing which was waiting in the cellar. So elegant!

The relative anonymity of the badge would have been a desirable aspect of the car for me. The problem was the horrid reliability so many complained about. Too bad.
in Romania we are only alowed pleb cars, you pay for that car 400ish euros City Hall tax, here I pay 600 for the 3l diesel, if I wanted the v10 I'd have to pay 1800 euros/year just tax
I am so happy people are such snobs that they want a brand on their car. This allowed me to own a great manufactured car at the price of a second hand Passat. I've been driving my 2012, long, 4 sitter Phaeton for longer then a year and it has been an amazing experience. Every day I drive the car, enjoy the comfort, amazing music, stainless steal and wood details and safety and feel privileged.
had the car for more then 3 years now. I changed the websto fuel pump for the stationary heating-500 eur, was abit of work as you need to unscrew the back axel, I had a accessories belt fail because I did not know to change the wheel on the crankshaft at 100.000 km - 700 euros and a hydraulic fluid pipe failure- 100-200 ish euros but I had to tow the car back home from vacation. Someone hit me on the side, 2 new replacement doors are 11.000 euros but you can buy used for around 700 so there's room to negotiate with the insurer, I'm curious how will they fit since some parts are also adapted on the car when they are mounted in.
This was the finest vehicle to have ever left a Volkswagen factory.....quality,craftsmanship and attention to every tiny detail......yet the customers under appreciated this vehicle,because it never made a big entrance,like say big BMW's

I am overwhelmingly proud to own a 2008 GP1 VW Phaeton! Only 172 left in Europe and out of those I can't tell you how many are Right hand drive in England. Especially in the specific Black mine is (B2 R9V) and with options like massaging ventilated seats and electric boot with 19 omanyt wheels. It feels like a 1 of a kind and I will keep it for as long as possible. I hear they are reviving the Phaeton as an all electric car. I would like to visit The Factory in Dresden and take Her to see where She was born. I also need a 2008 - 2011 ( facelift) front bumper in said paint code if anyone can help. Loved that video so much. Is any other factory videos of the 1st "Bentley" Generation being built available? The one showed In this film is the Audi A8 version.
VW made Phaeton and Bentley Flying Spur in this incredible factory and now they're making ID3, ID4 and eGolfs..SAD! :( Phaeton was "expensive" at 70 000 euros but ID4/ID7 at the same price is a bargain!...Touareg is 100K!
A criminally underrated car that was the victim of badge snobbery pedalled by the motoring press even before the chance to test drive it. And even then they said it had the wrong badge.
!!!!!!!!! can anyone tell me how to open the car electric trunk? it won`t open from the hidden button, and it won`t open manually with the key. it's stuck and it will not open no matter how I try. !!!!!!!!!!

They were never that beautiful. But they were very heavy inefficient cars.

Volkswagen should produce the Phaeton again! And, yes, in the engine lineup it should also offer a big V10 TDI engine!
