+fireice2037 what a wonderful story. I really relate because i grew up in unhappy home but spent time with a family who were like second parents and my fondest memory is of their dad sitting at a baby grand piano and playing his favorite music and singing along. That and my one great joy in my own home was putting on an old vynly record and the anticipation of a favorite song being foreshadowed by the crackle and pop of an old record then the wonderful music started............and one gets carried away to a happier place :)

I was humming/listening to the first movement at work, and a customer overheard. "Hey, that sounds good, what is it?" "A Mozart piece. I absolutely love it, but cannot for the life of me say the name right." "Moes Art? Never heard them. Then again, I listen to talk radio, not really into the popular stuff." "WHAAA? Mozart started showing his talents at the blooming age of five and died at 35. We wish you a happy afterlife in heaven because you and your music has helped me through my most hard times, providing me with happiness and hope for the future. Your music has always made me feel alive. And I also want to thank HarpsichordM for providing us with this beautiful serenade in this hell of TH-cam, with thanks to the Slovak Chamber Orchestra for being able to recreate such a beautiful piece of music in its fullest form. I think every bar or salon in Europe should play this type of music in the night. It's like you're dancing and socializing with people.. surely people should agree on this!
For late 20th century people who weren't familiar with classical music, this was the most approachable piece (along with the fourth part of _William Tell Overture_ and the _Overture to the Barber of Seville_). It did a lot to get me interested in classical music when I was growing up. And the performance here is exceptional. I'm glad this gem was recorded and recorded with good quality sound equipment.
He said from the afterlife he would have loved to as he never experienced "writer's block" of any kind. But some people were jealous of him and one of them poisoned him to a slow death. He said the swelling of his body at the end was very painful and it was a relief to pass over.
Here's a detailed explanation of this piece, and happy Halloween everyone!! The genre of the song is serenade for strings which is a chamber music. It was composed in 1787 by Mozart and the translation of the title is A Little Night Music. The performing forces of this song is double string quartet with double bass and it is often performed by a string orchestra. The first movement is in G major and it is a sonata form. The tempo is allegro, and the meter is 4/4. In the exposition, the first theme is in unison, and it outlines the tonic, then dominant seventh chords. It is a homophonic texture and the melodic line is played by a violin. In the bridge, it modulates to the dominant key, which is D major. The first violins outline a G major triad, followed by ascending scale movement leading to a D major. For the second them group, it contrasts with the first theme and the melody begins with a playful downward turn. It also features a triplet figure and piano dynamic level. On bar 36-40, it was built from a repeated eighth-note figure that creates an insistent quality and on bar 51-55, all instruments play briefly in unison, ending with an authentic cadence in D major and repeated signs are usually observed in performance. In the short development on bar 70-76, it begins with first-theme material in D major and quickly moves from D major to C major, then features material from theme 2b. The end of the development emphasizes the dominant to prepare the listener for the return of the main theme in the tonic key. In the Recapitulation, the first theme returns exactly as it was presented in the exposition. The bridge unexpectedly cadences in D major as in the exposition. The second theme group fulfills the listener's expectations and the song returns into G major. The coda grows out of the codetta, ending with a reference to the first theme. The key for the second movement is in C major and it is in Rondo form. The tempo is Adante and the meter is 2/2. In section A, the character is lyrical, understated, simple, and elegant. It unfolds over a tonic pedal, and the balance is achieved through four-measure phrases with clear-cut cadences. Also, the internal structure of this section is rounded binary form. In section B, a new melody is introduced and becomes more active rhythmically. The melodic line is also embellished. In section C, a new key is introduced: C minor. It has imitative dialogue between the outer parts. There is also repeated sixteenth-note figure in inner voices which is more active, creating restless character. Returning to section A, the key also returns in C major. In the Coda, it grows out of Section A material and brings the movement to a gentle close. The key for the third movement is in G major and it is a ternary form. The tempo is allegretto and the meter is 3/4. For the menuet, the internal structure is rounded binary and the phrases are typically four measures long. It is loud with robust character. The dance-like quality reinforced through rhythmic accentuation. For the trio, it includes a new key: D major. Contrast is achieved through sotto voce indication; more lyrical character and legato lines. There are more chromatic inflections than in the menuet. There is also the sotto voce which is a subdued, gentle character lowering the volume level as if to a whisper. Then it goes back to the Menuet, which the key returns to G major. For the fourth movement, the key is in G major and it is a sonata-rondo form. The tempo is allegro and the meter is 2/2. In the first theme, there is spirited, light-hearted character. The theme opens with a rocket theme that outlines the tonic arpeggio. In the second theme, it begins with a downward turn of a minor sixth and it is in a stepwise motion. It also employs some chromatic embellishments.
@@macolga100 it’s “night music” because this was some of mozart’s gig music. he had this play at parties for some uplifting background music and entertainment, so it was kind of like a night out sort of thing :)
I would have loved to be in the audience hearing Mozart and the other great masters hearing the music on period instruments and seeing the operas of old. I thank HIM for giving us such great composers whose music must never be allowed to die. These men and women were the rock stars of their day in my book.
What amazes me the most is how this song withstood the test of time. A man composed such a wonderful piece that nearly everyone in the world knows at least a bit of it. Mozart is a genius. Fun fact, did you know that he declined Beethoven as a pupil.
According to David Weiss, first time - yes, he declined. But not the second time he was asked. He accepted and agreed on time of first lesson, but Beethoven's mother got sick and he had to return home, so it was not Mozart's fault. No idea if David Weiss can be trusted.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this song all my other friends listen to the hot New hits and I’m over here listening to Mozart but he’s a genius and absolutely wonderful music he has composed.
179 dislikes? I can't find anything that could be better. It's so beautiful to dislike this masterfulness of a piece created and what's being played and heard in these ears is perfection. Savor a pour and flavor this with it and just relax because it's lovely to settle anything or if you just want to unwind. I need to see this live one day live. Be a pleasure. Throw some Tillman to, beethoven for sure and some folk from Grieg to finish it off with vivaldi violin playing...endless songs like this that achieved such a standar for classical playing and what music from the heart shows. Cheers everyone and good day. Weezy
"sir weezy" Jan 2016 « _179 dislikes? I can't find anything that could be better_ » The 1st reflex when not understanding someone is to think he is stupid. Some write at once based on this sole 1st impression, many more understand that the other too most probably has a brain, a heart, a sensibility, a wide (and possibly quite different) scope of interests, and surely a wide array of thoughtful reasons for the opinions and POV he displayed, as strange as they 1st look; as Darwin himself pointed ("Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge"), the most educated and instructed people rarely find someone else stupid. Here, while you indeed will probably find no or little people disliking the written music played, or not believing it was really written by a man called Mozart, you may find some who regret the relatively modern way it is played (with heavy "nuances", quite different from the 1950s, where there was less "TVish" immediate reactions to everything and more subtle resonance from listeners with the composer), or the way the sound is captured and the audio rendered. I am of those, and even after I thumbed up that video (and globally appreciated it highly), I still fully understand that some educated listeners and musicians can also dislike it. There are not many pieces of music that are played with more love than this Serenade. This is the case here, and together with the genius of Mozart it becomes a super treat.
@@keo8069 Nope it's "newer" Classical Period :) ... but Baroque or Classical it's still one of the best I know en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_period_(music)
The spirit of Mozart’s works woven musically of Beauty and Simplicity has been crystallizing on forever and ever through the ages in the hearts of Mozart lovers ❤
Beautiful! No autotune or computer generated manipulation. Just gorgeous music written by a genius and played by musicians who have trained and practiced and are really good at what they do.
He was given a vision into the future of the west. He didn't know whether to be satisfied that he would be one of the last and greatest or horrified that mankind plateaued in the 18th century..
Fun Fact; Mozart actually had very rude and childish humour; he'd be the first one in the room to crack a fart joke. He's interested in potty jokes, heh. But sometimes that's hard to believe, when he makes such detailed and mature music like this. Still a great composer though.
Ew WhoIsNickie he is childish because of the fact that he didn’t got the chance to live his childhood fully because he was always travelling and touring.
mizzox Yeah. The funny thing is I don't know much about classical music, but I just love listening to it. A person doesn't have to know a lot about art to appreciate the genius behind it.
It never ceases to amaze me how this song, and many others of many different genres, have the ability to make tears flow and send chills down the spine. Music like this is SOO much more than the sum of it's parts, it's more than notes played by different instruments and combined. It's like a spell that's cast upon the listener, transcending the boundaries of space and time, transporting us to a place of pure, unadulterated joy.

One of the best played interpretations! And trust me, I was listening that on the tape since I was nine years old, playing it over and over and over....till the tape broke :)
When I first performed this i was thrilled , listening to this brought lots of happy memories, i remember sitting in the viola section by myself and seeing each other as we musicians connect through eye contact during rests, and our similar parts within the music.
I had a very similar experience when i first performed this. I feel like the best way to connect with someone is to play music with them, because you can convey so much more through music. I remember being in the Violin 1 section and watching the cellos, and being totally enthralled by the fact that i was a part of the beautiful sound that i heard.
Had a driving job years ago and I was dangerously tired... rolling through the radio stations I found this on NPR I think... cranked it on the awesome stereo system the vehicle had....WOW... home safe... it touches you
What I loved about Mozart is how calm he is this song reflects that perfectly, even the build up's are calm. I love mozart just of his amazing construction and sounding of his music, people may judge me on the fact I like classical music but I don't care this is one of the finest composer's of time.
Michael Tran But surely you're aware of Europe's history, when this music was vital, a current affair? It was suffused with classical music (& great work in other media), but was at the same time plagued with bloody violence, and even barbarousness. By the 20th century, many of Europe's great composers had to run away to survive and work another day--to America! Tutoring in classical music or in any art isn't a panacea for a civil society--just doesn't work that way...
tohu777"Money can't buy Happiness, but it helps." We need all the Help we can get to live good lives. Free Will is involved here. The 'Love Molecule', Oxytocin, as explained by Dr. Paul Zak on You Tube, Beautiful Music, A Loving Wife/husband, all can help us to choose the Good, the Human Good. Deliberately to choose Evil is an Abuse of Free Will. Free Will is the Power to Choose, unlike animals who act by Instinct. Our Glory is the power to Choose. Even good things like music or money can lead to Evil. We can so distort the things of this world. So Music will not of Itself reform Society, although, all things being equal, it should help our spirit to soar to God(The Ultimate Good) and His Ways. From Canada. P.S. The only 'thing' that cannot be distorted, one would hope, is Love..."Deus Caritas est." That is, in itself, Love is Love. Or, should I say, Love as found in God is always Genuine Self Giving Love. But unfortunately, even Love, within us, can be excessive and destructive of Human Nature. You can 'Spoil' the Child, for example. Even Shakespeare's Othello was lead to debase love by jealousy, and refers to himself after murdering his innocent wife, "Then must you speak / Of one that lov'd not wisely but too well..." An excess of 'Giving Love'. "Need Love(C.S. Lewis) we can easily see how it can go astray and ask too much of the Beloved, can be Unreasonable in asking for its needs to be satisfied. But surely 'Giving Love'(The Mark of God's Love!) is beyond distortion! Nope! 'The Human Heart is devious and who can Understand it?" (Prophet Jeremiah). Hence, Dr. Gabor Mate, [on You Tube] explains how excessive, compulsive giving of oneself can be fatal to our Health. Benedict XVI in his Encyclical, 'Deus Caritas Est', (God Is Love), points out that if we only Give, we will shrivel up like raisons. We, unlike God, need to be Loved, need to be nourished. 'Affection is never wasted." (Longfellow).
Classical music is so under-rated these days, you're thought of as weird if you like any piece of classical music now. Annoys me so much. Especially when people say 'I can sing Opera' and then go on to sing an ear-piercing note. This shouldn't happen, where is proper musical education nowadays? This is from the perspective of a 14 year old Cellist/Singer/Pianist.
I feel ya bro. When one of my friends takes my headphones from me while I'm listening they start to laugh and ask me "what is this shit" and when I'm listening to opera at home my dad asks "is someone torturing a cat here?" XD so yeah, I totally feel ya :p The sad thing is that people think that when you like listening to classical music you must be a boring person with no sense of humor. And when you listen to metal or pop -then you're cool. But that is actually not true. And Mozart is a very good example. He had shitty sense of humor. Literally - just read few of his letters, the guy was impossible, it always makes me laugh :p Plus when he was stressed or bored he would pretend to be a cat... Mozart is absolutely the best XD
I don't want a medal and I don't appreciate your comment, it's just adding another perspective to my comment, lots of people would find it interesting that a teenager would think like that in a generation like mine. I hope this helps ☺
+Krowa Paulinka this occurs to me too because i listen to metal (most of the time but I have a very diverse taste of music) that always leads to people pulling my heaphones out (instead of asking me beforehand) and lets say in that moment i'm listening to death metal, because of that they shrink together and on the next day i'm listening to mozart and they laugh and say that i shouldn't listen to that with my age which currently is 14, but when i'm listening to gorillaz or something like that they suddenly appreciate my taste of music (that was legit the longest comment i ever wrote :D)
20:14 the superb magic of this performance kicks in once again, with enough power in the bass (sounds like double bass) to make it a fantastic finish, to this overall great version.

Imagine how many more masterpieces we would have today had Mozart lived for another 35 years...
He said from the afterlife he would have loved to as he never experienced "writer's block" of any kind. But some people were jealous of him and one of them poisoned him to a slow death. He said the swelling of his body at the end was very painful and it was a relief to pass over.
Lol
@Connor Duke it's been pretty much confirmed that a smaller plague/virus that spread through mozart's town killed him.

He would've made even better and greater pieces since he would've gotten more experienced with music

Ma è vero che c'era un quinto movimento andato perduto !?

Hi . If you mean smart, that's what Mozart intended to...
It's a ( the ? ) central point .
What amazes me the most is how this song withstood the test of time. A man composed such a wonderful piece that nearly everyone in the world knows at least a bit of it. Mozart is a genius. Fun fact, did you know that he declined Beethoven as a pupil.
Yeah actually. And I commented just to bring you to this video btw. Youre welcome
According to David Weiss, first time - yes, he declined. But not the second time he was asked. He accepted and agreed on time of first lesson, but Beethoven's mother got sick and he had to return home, so it was not Mozart's fault. No idea if David Weiss can be trusted.

The 1st reflex when not understanding someone is to think he is stupid.

WHY IS MOZART HAVING A VIETNAM FLASHBACK FACE

cause Ho Chi Minh fucked him up the ass
Don't ask, since there are no photos in Mozart's lifetime.
He was given a vision into the future of the west. He didn't know whether to be satisfied that he would be one of the last and greatest or horrified that mankind plateaued in the 18th century..
I took music appreciation in college. Fantastic music course.
Mozart has to be one if not the #1 best musician ever!
So uplifting! Spontaneous!
It's fascinating to think this music was praised 2 and 1/2 centuries ago, and we, people of 21st century, still love it.
Fun Fact;
Mozart actually had very rude and childish humour; he'd be the first one in the room to crack a fart joke.
The israeli prodigy is like him, but not that funny, just rude lol, I dont find any humour on his face but I think its hidden somewhere in his body
I must be a genius then.
He wrote a piece called "Leck mich im Arsch", which basically means "lick my ass"

It never ceases to amaze me how this song, and many others of many different genres, have the ability to make tears flow and send chills down the spine. Music like this is SOO much more than the sum of it's parts, it's more than notes played by different instruments and combined. It's like a spell that's cast upon the listener, transcending the boundaries of space and time, transporting us to a place of pure, unadulterated joy.
tear's ? huh guess that proves each perspective is truly different. .....tear's ? huh i never would have gotten to tears from this time line im in maybe if a close friend or loved one passed and this was their favorite, anyhow , i just stopped in to tell the ones who dont know and remind the ones that that do ....lean in close this is a big one.
I - Serenade. Allegro: 0:00
II - Romance. Andante: 8:03
III - Menuetto. Allegretto: 13:36
IV - Rondo. Allegro: 15:47

Peter Pigott Such a good idea… Why not run away from America and enjoy paradise?

Hi

I love this masterpiece! I get to play it soon on the pianoforte! Thank you Mozart for your wonderful masterpieces! Bravo!
I love all of his beautiful masterpieces. And thank you for the highlight.
When one of my friends takes my headphones from me while I'm listening they start to laugh and ask me "what is this shit" and when I'm listening to opera at home my dad asks "is someone torturing a cat here?" XD so yeah, I totally feel ya :p
The sad thing is that people think that when you like listening to classical music you must be a boring person with no sense of humor.
YESS I literally am the same as you and I play cello, piano, and are in an honors choir
No one cares that you're 14. Do you want a medal?
