If you’re still overproducing milk, you can donate extra breast milk to a lot of hospitals! It’s used when mother’s are having trouble producing enough milk, for babies going to adoptive mothers, etc. Idk if those programs have been changed because of covid, but it’s worth looking into!

As someone who absolutely does not want children and hates the idea of pregnancy for myself, I was interested to see how long I'd follow your journey before deciding not to anymore. But it turns out I absolutely loved being able to follow along on the vlog channel and see all those changes with you and to see the absolute joy that Grace is bringing y'all. This video in particular was so informative for anyone watching who DOES want children because you are always so real and open with us. It was such a blessing to be able to follow your journey and I'm so excited to see your love for that beautiful baby girl grow and blossom and to see where this new journey of parenthood takes y'all.

But then my sister (who I live with) got pregnant and watching/being a part of my niece’s life who we’ve raised has been the most stressful but beautiful process ever. She’s so amazing and smart. I was just holding her as a new born and now she’s a little sassy diva toddler 🥺❤️. It’s changed my whole view. Now I want one (just one), because I want to experience all of this with my own child and all these beautiful feelings. It’s very stressful so I know I would want 2, 3 or a whole army lol. But I do want to go through the whole process at least once 💕

@@leahmcdermott4189 just what my mum had to go through. I'm not big on the idea of risking health of you and your child just to have a biological child when you can adopt. I know it's difficult but pregnancies are too and their twice as scary to me as adoptions (and postpartum is even worse than the pregnancy). I also found out that I have really hard time connecting with babies/toddlers. School age children are good but anything younger is too much for me. Yes, I played with my sister but only when I was in mood. With your own kids you cannot do that. The child will need a close and intimate relationship with its caretaker, otherwise, they'll end up with unfavourable attachment style, which will affect their whole life most likely in a negative way. The struggles they will endure just because parental figure wasn't properly equipped to deal with them in those formative years are not worth having a specific set of genes. Also, making the other parent take care of the child when you're supposed to be coparenting is incredibly shitty in my opinion. Creating so much tension (I had tension with my mum for the first 2-3 years since my sister was born and now, 3 years later, we have just started repairing it) with loved ones + creating a child with mental issues, is not worth it to me. btw, my sister's fine, my parents have great relationship with each other, and since I wasn't my sister's caretaker, my own issues didn't transfer to her. But if I was in my mum's shoes then it would be a totally different picture.
I'm sorry for it to being so long and I don't mean to scare you and I do not mean to shame any type of parent and their parenting style. I understand that not everybody has the privilege. But then again, people who do have the privilege to get info, proper healthcare, etc. should make an educated choice. I'm also biased. I'm majoring in psychology and I specifically intend on focusing my research on children and their environment and relationship between nature and nurture. It would just be morally wrong for me to still have children, whilst knowing my character and my ambitions.
Obviously, everyone's experiences are going to be different and your reasons for and feelings towards having children are totally valid.

@@elenkonakkk1579 Wow, that’s a lot, but I totally understand. Everyone’s entitled to their own feelings and opinions. Sorry, things have been tough for you but even adoption/fostering is great. Whatever you think is best for you, is the best thing to do, no doubt. And if that doesn’t include having your own biological child, that’s perfectly fine. I admire your honesty and self realisation 😌💕
My experience has been very different and now I’m very sure I want to have one child. I would really like to experience it for myself and have a mini me that comes from me & possibly shares some of my own features and personality traits. Though, I have considered adoption and would still consider it. It’s super interesting as I also have a degree in Psychology and another in Mental Health Nursing. Love your bravery and openness! 💕

Fun fact about pregnancy: humans and higher primates are pretty much the only species to have such an invasive method of growing a fetus. In other mammals, the blood supply is delivered in an efficient yet non-invasive way, prioritising the health and decisions of the mother's body over the child. Even though some researchers suggest this method could work for humans as well (and makes sense evolutionarily since the mother can always have another baby but a baby can't survive without a mother) we instead got the hemochorial placenta which siphons off the mother's source of nutrition and gives the fetus access to manipulate the mother's hormones which is quite a Darwinian survival method . The competition between mother and child for resources made it more aggressive over evolution as well so the result is an incredibly arduous, difficult pregnancy which can incapacitate the mother (I've also read that genes given to the fetus by the father further exasperate this effect so thanks guys lol). In contrast, other mammals can hunt prey and run from predators absolutely fine throughout pregnancy. Even now, researchers aren't certain why humans have evolved like this and some suspect an evolutionary patch-job (a quick fix basically which has to do with the need to shed the uterine lining every month). So evolution really isn't a perfect process and in our species particularly women really have paid the price for that.
So yeah honestly, fascinating stuff and obviously completely worth it despite the difficulties, given that most of us are fortunate enough to live in a world with good medical care to mitigate risk to life. I just think it's really interesting to learn about the whole process because our bodies are capable of going through so much trauma and healing really quickly afterwards, even after producing a whole other life! But yeah I find it funny now when people talk about how amazing women's bodies are (which they 100% are, don't get me wrong) when nature basically looked at us and went "eh, that'll do".
    Edit:
Since I guess quite a few people are reading this I just thought I'd say if you're interested in this kind of thing I'd recommend doing some of your own research since I'm by no means an evolutionary biologist. Here's the article I originally read that got me interested before doing my own reading:

I was 45lb LIGHTER at 9mos pregnant (with a 9lb 5oz baby) than I was when I got pregnant. It was insane, and you NEVER see representations like that. Then I put most of it back on with #2 a year later. It was quite a journey. And the boobs??? Oh, good lord. I had a D-cup when I started, I was an H-cup after... No one could even tell I was pregnant for 8 months.

I've never been as confident in my body as I was when I was pregnant. It took me a few months after giving birth to even be able to look at my tummy. I'd hide it, wouldn't even look in the mirror. Very grateful for what my body did but still mentally healing from labor and delivery and its been 10 months. So this positivity really helps!

Thank you for posting this! I wish something like this had been around when I was pregnant 11 years ago. I was chubbier when I got pregnant and just felt even fatter as the pregnancy progressed. I have no pictures of me when I was pregnant because I felt like I did not have the typical pregnancy belly. That is my biggest regret. So many people claim that having a c-section is the easy way out, but I completely disagree. My biggest fear and worry was that i'd have to have one and try to recover from that postpartum. Don't get it twisted, having a baby and giving birth either "naturally" or through a section is insanely hard and painful. But you c-section mommas have a little bit more recovery wise to do. I applaud all women who go through childbirth. It's not easy!!

Seeing your changes was so heartening for me and makes me look forward to the day I get to be pregnant and see my body change while growing a little human. From one mother to another.. I hope you consider wearing a compression undergarments for gaining core strength and stability to help with daily activities and recovery especially after having a c-section. Besides from that, congratulations Sierra and Stephen 💕

    • @ivanna235

Agree! Also wearing compression undergarments keeps the belly in place and prevents it from moving too much, which helps your c-section scar to heal faster.

I'm a bit jealous of this video because I wish when I was pregnant they had the technology for me to document mine like you were able to. Grace will be able to see this when she is older and that is so amazing! I don't even have many pictures of myself pregnant. To be able to have the weeks of stages during your pregnancy and to see the changes in your body during the pregnancy is so cool. Back then for me, no one really did that. I just remember taking one more towards the end to send to my sister in-law who lived really far away just so she could see my belly. Technology has come so far and it's really amazing.
ps... I never got that pregnancy line or the belly button pop out either. Mine was just flat.

    • @Brooksie603
      @Brooksie603 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh, I just remembered that for me, after many hours of failed natural labor I also had an unplanned C-section and for a very long time the scar felt really weird. It was kind of like when you go to the dentist to get a filling and they give you Novocain to numb you up but it's all around the scar. It freaked me out anytime anything touched that area. I don't know if you had this issue yet or not. It was weird and uncomfortable for me. I don't know if you will experience that too or if anyone else who had a C-section had that too. I just wanted to say something in case it happens to you. I assume it is normal?
