My dad brought this comic from the US to Brazil, and it was most likely my first encounter with this kind of art and story. I loved it and I guess it influenced a little of my work a few years later. I got to meet Jim briefly when I went to SDCC in 2008, and he was very nice and sketched in my sketchbook. Great stuff!
Great seeing Mahfood on here all week. Great dude. I miss seeing all of you guys and fellow Meathausers at cons like MOCCA, SPX, TCAF and whatnot. Those were great days. Mahfood had a great comic in Wizard Edge Magazine that showed the reader how to make DIY ashcan comics at Kinko's. It was an excellent resource for young comics makers. Speaking of soundtracks, I remember seeing Becky and Brian listing soundtracks in the back of those DEMO comics. Great work on these videos. Keep it up.
Epic! Love that comic! I'm 16 years old, and my mom had that issue sitting in the basement. I found it maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Looked through that thing constantly for like a year straight.
Bought this when it came out. Still have it. Love it.
Scooped this up day one. Was so vibing off Jim M at this time
Met Mahfood in PHX after the Oni book at Atomic. Super nice guy and I'm glad he says how much Hewlett is an influence. Also used to party at those Z Trip shows...fun to be young. Great interview. Please get Art Adams and Chris Bachalo on the show.
This is one of my favorite comics! I grew up in a rural era so I wasn’t getting underground comics. This was the one that introduced me to Mahfood’s work. Also, I think about the Hostess ad from this book at least once a week!
This was so good, guys! A trip down memory lane for me. I was picking up all of Mahfood’s work early on when this dropped. And still do. He and I are the same age. Always dug all his hip hop references
So young, first Marvel job...and he nailed it. Impressive! I would have panicked!
I remember buying the Clerks comic having not heard of Kevin Smith yet, but being super into Jim’s work on the Generation X special. This is still one of my all time favourite comics. A big influence on my own drawing when I was in high school too.
So cool, man! Great stories. Congrats Jim, awesome stuff.
This comic was such a huge influence on me! Can't wait to scope this ep!
I remember the Jubaleee making pancakes one. It was pretty neat.
I found out about this comic a couple weeks ago. I was wondering if it’d be covered.
As someone who draws as a hobby I would like to be a comic artist but alot of mainstream comic companies think that social media is more important than talent and it's sad
I bought Comic Toast at a con in Lawrence or KC from the man
I think it’s with my stuff I left in Maine when I shipped to boot camp in 1999
Time to go back to Maine
Muchas gracias!!
Acquired.
Whatever part of your body it is, I want you to lay it on your radio. Funk not only moves it can remove... 🤘
Cool AF.
