1:42:04 As a someone that's spent most of the past 20 years, (pre-pandemic) as an underpaid "comics bartender", who pushes y'all's stuff all the damn time. Let me say - THANK YOU!
Interesting to hear Ed talk about Murderer/Fugitive, as those were my sort of first events when getting into comics. And I always got the sense on re-reads that the story ran longer than the writers wanted, seeing as Rucka and Brubaker’s books practically dropped the story while the other Bat books continued the story
What a great dude! Love this man’s comics, normally I go for the artist name to decide what to read but would never skip over a Brubaker joint cause the writing is next level! Loved his frankness on a few questions too dude gives 0 shits, hope you guys get him back sounds like he wants to join the crew, he could be the new Tom Scioli (only virtually) let’s get the Kayfabe family growing, become the Wu Tang Clan of comics fandom/criticism!!
Brubaker is one of the best Batman writers of all time, and I don't think people give him the respect he deserves in this title. Sure his work wasn't as long or redefining as his Captain America run, but Gotham GCPD and Bruce Wayne Murder and Fugitive are classics imo. Also some of his shorter stories are tight too. The Man Who Laughs is a great example.
Sweet, Piskor is a White Sox fan! I knew I like him. Big fan of Brubaker of course-love his back page notes in single issues where he recommends old films, books and TV shows. Been turned on to many great things from him, not to mention the amazing Criminal material!
I've been watching your guys older videos and damn, always a blast. I love getting a look behind the curtain, even though I never had access to a lot of stuff you guys talk about when I was younger. Third world problems 🤣
If McCay ever did an Anatomy book I have not seen it, and I thought I owned just about everything ever published by or about McCay, at least in the last 50-60 years. I think you are correct, he must be thinking of Hogarth.
Man yinz have absolutely been killing these shoot interviews! Ed Brubaker is the one I've been hoping yinz would be able to get the most. Geoff Darrow, David Choe and Gerard Way were some favorite interviews as well. Now, I got my fingers crossed for David Mack and Lynn Varley!
Keep on writing newsletters even if it's a lot of work... especially if it's not only designed to sell something, although that is fine too because it let you know what's happening on comic market :D
I kept thinking to myself but he's been dead for awhile now, but it was right around the time you made this comment. These last two years have blended together so much. Adams was quite a dude. I walked by one of his booths around 2016 and I just watched Neal tending his booth and people would walk up occasionally. I couldn't afford any of his books, so I didn't want to waste his time. I felt like an asshole when I went up and told him I admired his work but didn't buy anything. He revolutionized things for sure though.
No doubt, that guy is a seriously underrated cartoonist. To be honest, I was not sure if he was still alive. I remember meeting him at a Heroes Con back in the late 80's and being blown away by his stuff.
Does anyone know the name of the Sarah Gran chose your own adventure story Brubaker is talking about? If it’s available for purchase I gotta check it out.
This man gave Marvel the shot in the arm it needed late 2000s. Of course, his creator owned work is phenomenal.
Ed: "My favourite of all the EC guys is-"
Me: "Johnny Craig."
Ed: "-Johnny Craig."
Me, to my cat: "YEEEEEEAH!"

I've been waiting for this shoot since you guys started doing them.
AWESOME! I love anything Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips do. I read and reread and reread their comics!
Ed was always great with everyone at conventions. Treated everyone with respect and was always nice and open.

One of my favorite writers working today.

@@johnv3623 Dead Reckoning is a criminally underappreciated Batman story.

Well, I guess my next 2 hours have been filled
Fantastic interview. Brubaker/Philips is what pulled me into comics.
This is a great interview, Ed & Jim - really enjoyed the whole thing. Excellent work 👍
This one has been too long coming! Watching with total fixation! Thanks guys!
Any chance of killed or be killed reprints?? There is a demand for that book.
Great content guys
Great interview guys. I totally Agree that Ed was HUGE influence in 2000s on Captain America / Daredevil / Iron fist 👊 etc.
Anyone know if there will be more 'Criminal' books in the future? I've read everything up to 'Cruel Summer'. Such a talented writer!
Bill Wray tells a story about Rascally Roy T on the Sidebar podcast that “it was common knowledge that Roy had the biggest -- in comics”
This is the interview I've been dreaming about since the beginning of the channel! Ed is the goat comics writer!
Wow what a great interview! Thanks for this!
Another great interview! Loved the Sparky story!

Winsor McCay "Anatomy" book?!!.. Is that a thing? Never heard of it. Is he thinking Burne Hogarth?

Fantastic interview guys!
You are both a wonderful resource and should be very proud of your program

One of the best in the biz. RECKLESS, CRIMINAL, ...JUNKIES... the man is untouchable

Great interview everyone! Really enjoying the content!
Another great interview!
Man that Brubaker/ epting combo was amazing prob best cap run since kirby ,return of bucky and the winter soldier creation blew my mind 😳
You guys are killing it like usual 👏👏
Maaaaan it would be so great if ya’ll could nail down a Neal Adams shoot. Id love to see yalls chemistry and I could listen to him talk for days.

Bernie F'n Mireault. Someone needs to give him truckloads of money so he can make comics.
No doubt, that guy is a seriously underrated cartoonist. To be honest, I was not sure if he was still alive. I remember meeting him at a Heroes Con back in the late 80's and being blown away by his stuff.
This is a fantastic interview with Ed - well played 👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, who would have thought that it would be in an Ed Brubaker interview that I would hear the first "negative" story on Archie Goodwin? :)
Great interview guys!
The hits keep coming!
Every episode a classic!!!
Damn Brubaker looks like what I pictured him to look like in my mind.
Fascinating man.
When did Ed Brubaker become Ed Brubaker's favorite comedian? Lol
Dam! Getting legends!
Does anyone know the name of the Sarah Gran chose your own adventure story Brubaker is talking about? If it’s available for purchase I gotta check it out.
Loved it!!!!
This is great
One of the best but damn what a horrible laugh!
Go Sox!
