Very educational and helpful video. I am a lawyer from Ukraine, we have a slightly different legal system due to the fact that we belong to the Romano-Germanic, and not the Anglo-Saxon legal family. At the beginning of the war, I thought that my lawyer business was going to collapse, we only thought about how to survive physically. But by some miracle, I managed to keep the business. So I understand and feel what you're talking about. Thank you so much for this video and for recommending the book.

Thank you so much for telling your story Terry. It is inspiring and moving and you tell it in a humble manner. Your life experience has stood you in great stead. I have subscribed to your channel am watching a few of your videos at a time. I am, I guess, about 3 years older than you so I relate so much to your attitude (so true about health and how one chooses to react to life's circumstances) and to this story. Keep it up, please and best wishes for growing your channel for 2020. Love reading and Seamus Heaney's poetry too!

Thanks very much. It's my first year back doing a law degree after doing a diploma many years ago. A total fish out of water, with no idea how to prepare for exams. I finished my last exam today. Off until January. Your videos have really helped me understand legal issues very well and saved my sanity, especially the past two weeks. Happy Christmas to you and your family. I really appreciate your commitment. God bless. ❤️

Very inspiring story. I can relate to that I came to England penniless in 1979 with little English. Since then I made some I lost some. I had to work hard to get to Uni etc. With God Blessings, I am ok and retired from my pharmacy profession. Now I am interested in laws. I have read up and currently helping someone to fight unlawful parking penalties issued to long leasehold legal owners of parking bays, through small claims court.
At 61+, some days, I feel that I can pick up to do paralegal qualification and some days I feel too old ....
Anyway, I appreciated your videos. God Bless. Peace.

I went back to college st 53. (Not law), i did a pre degree course and then matriculation , you need to be confident that you can do the reqired modules( alot of it is common sense) without too much difficulty, I began my 4 year degree but had to park it after 3 months as the distance was too far, 2.5 hours there and same back ( traffic) was too much . I switched to another degree , within the City and that has been going very well. I had a neighbour who did his English Degree in Trinity at 72 , some years ago, it was his life.(He always wanted to go,when he was younger, but never had the opportunity.)So it really depends on your focus, because it will become your whole life for 4 years, pwrhaps more. If you are good with technology in your everyday life thats a good start, remember all work is via this nowdays. But ,even then you can use supportive technogy and dictate papers , there are many supports these days available that is one good aspect, but you must find them . That being said , the workload is very constant as many degrees use exams but some use coninuous assessment , which is assignments throughout the year rather than all exams at end of year. Law is probably all exams, you can check on college websites. Also see Mature student entry on the CAO which is where you apply and that might be worth looking at too. Please bear in mind that Colleges are a run like businessses now, they advertise on their "open days", to look very attractive and very doable , this isnt the reality of things so you must have your eyes open and ask many questions and be very honest with yourself about commitment and time. I will just say it does have challenges as young people these days can be very harsh , but some also very kind, and there are alot of mature students, but few in 60's , which shouldn't really bother you once you are fit and healthy.Full time study , sitting at a desk most of day( and evenings/ nights) is very bad on health as you age , so you must get a routine of good exercise every day, and nutrition to sustain you as it will damage your health otherwise, the hours required are very long, and we cannot eat like students and do many all night studies before exams so planning is constant. Alot of time is wasted emailing the college about this and that, you quickly notice alot of wasted time, compared to college in our times . If there is a shorter course that attracts your attention to try ( not too far from home) that might be a happy compromise to satisfy your excellent mind and research abilities. You clearly would enjoy the study part and learning . Anyway , hope that has helped . Best wishes to you, and all mature students of college , and of Life!

Congratulations, Terry, on your honesty and for sharing your story. We rarely hear the negatives. In fact, it’s almost seen as a weakness to do so, which, of course is fundamentally wrong. We all, without exception, will fail at some point. We need to hear that is ok to fail, inevitable, almost. But, as you say, surviving failure is key. - it separates the winners from the losers. Many of us live life in quiet desperation and we need more wise people, like you, to help us through. Help us to survive and fight another day. Derek

Hi Terry love your videos 👍👍 I have a question for you..I'm just wondering the recent sectoral employment orders introduced in relation to mechanical workers ie plumbers..in March 2018 and subsequent orders and amendments in relation to pay pensions ect..I'm just wondering do these orders apply to plumbers across the working environment or are they strictly defined within the order signed off by Pat Breen.. I'm getting conflicting advice from all sorts of people including the WRC..I'm a qualified plumber working on a day to day basis as a plumber doing plumbing work.
