when I was about 6 years old my neighbor had one of these in the weeds behind his garage ...I asked him about it and he gave it to me and loaned me tools to work on it ... I got it going and I have enjoyed motorcycles the rest of my life
I had a 1951 when I fifteen years old that I bought for fifty bucks. I delivered my paper route every morning before going to high school. I was able to drive it on a lerner permit at 15 1/2. had a ball on it
I had a 1951 as well, and I paid $50 in 1960 when I was 14. I sold it for $50 in 1962 when I bought my first car. It was a great little scooter. I had to replace the head gasket, and it was very easy to do.
OMG, when I was a kid around 67-68, I had a friend that owned this or a model very similar. Hs parents had a property about 1/3 acre, and we rode that thing round and round that property. I had forgotten about it until this video appeared up in my TH-cam feed.
I had a 1948 Cushman like that, with a Husky engine. I believe it was 4 or 5 HP. (I believe the Cushman Eagle was 8 HP.) It was definitely faster and more powerful. The slot in the right side of the housing is where the shift lever came out for the 2-speed transmission. They did NOT have electric start - so that one has been modified.
I grew up across from a little 9 hole golf course. They had Cushman golf carts back in the late 60's. I also owned an AMF Harley Davidson golf cart back in the 80's and 90's!
@@forgottenmotorcyclesMy mate has a 1976 AMF Harley Davidson 1000cc Sportster Electric start.HE is thinking about using it more often & giving engine a rebuild cause in NZ 🇳🇿 bike Registration is $525 per bike😲🤯🤬till bike is 40yrs old then bike Rego is only $40.Bike Rego went up about 8yrs ago from 200-$800 & was a outcry & bike demonstration at Government doorstep & they reduced it to $525.Reason it's so high cause we have a public health system so free but still overpriced considering cars cause 80% of bike accidents in NZ 🇳🇿 & car Rego is only $125. Alot guys with more than 1 bike put their Bike Registration on hold for $9 a year & take it off hold for 3months of the year to save money & make Rego last longer. If Rego lapsed you have to back date it so pays to keep bike active & Registered & on hold if not being used for months. It's a good way to make Rego last ages cause you Rego bike for year use it out it on hold & take bike off hold whenever you want use bike for a week ir months then put back on hold & Rego only counts down while bike on road so a years Rego could Last a couple of years if keep Hold paper work upto date. They have Hold process to keep vehicles in system otherwise drop out of system & cost $400 to re-activate. Everyone with more than 1 bike does it & some even put bike on hold over Winter for 8-12weeks but you can ride all year round in NZ 🇳🇿 except in bad weather obviously.
Now that is a gorgeous little runaround for the little lady. I seen a 1949 for 4700.00 but who knows when that info was recorded. We would see Mike Wolfe from American Pickers driving one of these on T.V.
@@forgottenmotorcycles I encouraged a gentleman named Ian who is rebuilding a 2018 bullet 500 to call a mechanic at Baxters to help him possibly answer questions about the rebuilding. His name is Ian in 🇧🇬 Bulgaria. Wahoo....
I have a 62' Eagle.... A couple of buddies rode their Cushman's from Mpls-St Paul to Sturgis and back. :)
Now that is an interesting story. To Sturgis and back. Wahoo!

That was Uncle Steve's mode of transportation until he died. I'm 75 now had a cushman eagle in my teens. 2 gears, forward and fast forward.
Love that! Wahoo!
