    Excellent instructions and visuals, thanks! Couple notes for anyone doing this: You can do it without a lift or jack, just a tight fit on the underside and have to turn the wheels a few times to reach all the bolts. Also replacement lights I bought did not have the plastic bracket that sits under each headlight. Simple enough to take them off the old and snap onto the new lights before install, just something to check before you plug in the new ones.

  • @georgeg1506
    @georgeg1506 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Got my headlights in yesterday, change them out today. Everything works great. The only thing I would add is that when you change over the headlights you have to takeoff one plastic bracket, it just pops out but you need to do that because your bottom bolt on the side will not have anything to fasten to.

    Great step by step. Saved me major $$$$$ . Cadillac dealer wanted $350.00 + to replace headlamp bulb. My headlamps were sweating up and I believe causing my bulb to short out, so l was able to seal them also. Thanks again, Cheers.

    I just did both DRLs on my 2013 SRX4 today. Took about 2.5 hours including the trip to AutoZone. The trickiest part was getting bumper back on by myself; lining up the three 10 mm bolts on the bottom was a little frustrating. Thanks so much for posting this!

    I believe there is a class-action suit against Cadillac.
    The feds have called for a factory recall. (I think)
    The lens allows water to enter and cloud the headlight.
    My 2010 has very weak low bean projection.

      There should be, this is ridiculous. 2013 SRX and my wife's low beams are so dim it is a safety hazard. You have to drive with the bright lights on and be a dick to everyone else just so you can see at night. I'm about to do an LED swap hopefully it works. Have to watch a video and tear half the car apart to change headlights.

    • @rynothealbinoryno

      As far as I know, the law suit is California and Florida only and it has been settled that they will reimburse up to $1600.00 only due to this, and you have to have your paperwork and diagnosis from a certified dealer only. You have to pay out of pocket first as they will only reimburse. Some settlement. The problem is that they are fighting the recall. It should absolutely be recalled, it's a huge safety hazard, it's a huge technical flaw, and GM has known about it for almost a decade for the 2010-2016 models. The sealant they use to hold the lens and the housing together deteriorates quickly and causes moisture to short out the bulbs and other electronic components. I am adding GM to my "DO NOT BUY" list along with Volkswagen.

    Awesome video, gave me the confidence I needed to do this rather large job. For my 2016 Cadillac SRX, the wheel well screws are actually a T15 Torx instead of a Phillips head. Also, when I removed the bumper, there was no connector to release nor was the windshield washer hose attached, the bumper came off very easily. For re-assembly, the bottom of the bumper must pass under car first, then it is very easy to re-assemble. Used Diode Dynamics LED bulbs instead of halogen (this is what caused the problem to begin with), lots of nice white light now, can see in the dark again!! Thanks again.

    Thanks for this amazing video. I just got my car inspected and the passenger side headlight is super dim and you can see the moister in side the plastic housing where the lens sits.. Illl be ordering these to replace the bad one.. I do have a question. the Drivers side headlight is functioning well do I need to replace that one as well and will this fix the dim low beam problem. I am the owner of a SRX 2010 model. I was quoted for the the passenger side almost 600.00 dollars with labor.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joe Damon Thanks for watching! You do not have to replace the driver side along with the passenger side, but you need to keep in mind that they might not match up cosmetically. If they are the original headlights then I would imagine they have some oxidation, and if you put on a new passenger side the old driver side might not look very good compared to the new one! 1aauto.com

    The day Cadillac either gives a lifetime warranty on their headlights or they actually use sealant in the seams to keep moisture out, I may buy another one. But the way the headlights are now and how incredibly over priced replacements are it makes their vehicles not even worth looking at.

    The video was very informative but I was very disappointed the alignment portion at the end didn't use the actual car being worked on. It offers no info on where the adjustment/alignment screws are! It uses a completely different and much older vehicle that has nothing to do with this project. It would be very frustrating to reassemble this monument to poor engineering only to find out that the adjustment screws were located under it all... Perhaps someone could share some info on this matter?

      Thanks for this great video. @Batma did you only change the bulbs and not the whole assembly? I'm watching this video to prepare for swapping both full assemblies to hopefully fix low beam dimness issues. I believe the projector gets burned spots on it internally such that if you change the bulbs there will be no difference. I'm thinking only way to fix it is to buy the whole assembly. You should buy it from these guys

You will need buy a wire harness for HIDs that connects to the battery that helps power the ballasts. You don't need to remove the bumper to do the job, just the air box and the fuse box cover on the drivers side. I put a notch in the round dust cover to run the wires through.
