The whole Angron resurrection thing is one of the worst thought-out rules in 10th. It's so absurdly swingy, a lot of games against WE hinge on whether he comes back and how quickly, and there's very little an opponent can do to influence that. The last game I had against them with Chaos Knights I managed to take Angron down turn 1, only for him to immediately come back the next turn and take me apart. Had he not done that, I was in position to dismantle the rest of the WE army in short order, but because he did, I'd effectively done no damage at all. Both my opponent and I agreed that I'd had no option but to take him out, he's simply too fast and dangerous to ignore. At the very least, he should have to wait a turn before he gets to come back.
The simplest internal fix is making Tyrant Boneswords S10 (so S11 due to synapse reaching the breakpoint) with Dev Wounds and all Monsterous Scything Talons a Strike/Sweep with A4/8 S9/7 AP -2 and D3/2 along with merging the split warriors back into one and as a battleline unit. However Vanguard with 33 genestealers, the big sneks+one eye are a solid lineup for melee, but at that point you might as well reskin it to a GSC army with allied digging machines and a tank flavor side.
Bloodcrushers still have an absolutely broken ability. Points, durability, and 7 in a squad means that you're almost guaranteed to do at least 8-12 mortal wounds BEFORE combat starts..
Why no BT? You probably are looking at the stats, but If you actually run all the unique units, which is most representative of the faction, its super killy in melee. Running sustained hits vow and sprinkling LTs in, you have a large portion of your army sustained and lethal. With grimaldus giving rerolls and defense buffs to a large block of PCS, helbrecth and LT giving 5+ lethal sustained to some sword bros, an LT with sigismunds seal giving leathals and sustained on 5+ go to another group of sword bros or bladegaurd etc.. Emp champ with some sword bros to nuke 4 dmg attacks into a character unit with help from Oath of moment. Ive tabled multiple games with builds similar to this by getting them accross the board in land raiders/ impulsors and making sure my anti tank units pop open the transports early. You can super charge 4 melee units to the 9s with this and thats usually all you need to bring. Everyones so pressed on the feel no pain for some reason. Grimalidus can already give that to his block and they should be the only ones not in a transport.
It’s a top 5 list, based on current win rates in Pariah Nexus. While BT are one of many melee heavy armies, they haven’t really rocked in Pariah Nexus so far. So yeah, they just lack the results to be called a top tier melee army right now (which can change, PN meta is still young).
Going from Eldar to Marines this edition has been sad. The marines toughness is way too weak, and bolters are strength 4. I think if Marines got a bump in T and maybe a small buff to some weapons, they'd be more fun to play
The damage Cruddace did in 5th has only gotten worse with every subsequent edition. Monsters are just worse tanks, ranged guys are always better than melee, the key melee units bounce between being underpowered or overcosted... There's usually maybe one kinda-okay melee unit (usually genestealers), but everything else just keeps getting stronger while they get weaker. And that's to say nothing of how core mechanics just keep making melee worse and worse. No bonus attack for charging, no more stun/weapon destroy to take tanks apart through progressive hits, unreliable charge distance, introduction of overwatch, super-ranges on shooting weapons, ramped-up shooting weapon stats and ramped-down melee weapon stats, free disengaging from melee, no more auto-destruction from failing melee morale, being able to shoot monsters who are in melee, being able to shoot your tank cannons out of melee, psychic powers stripped away into yet more guns or pathetic little passives, reduced movement on nearly every tyranid unit... I could go on and on. Basically, if your faction gets special rules to mitigate how weak melee is (imperials and chaos), you can manage. Otherwise, you're pretty much always better off with shooting. And, sadly, that's been the state of the Tyranid faction since Robin Cruddace clawed his way into the Big Boy chair.
I find it funny how many of these armies have a "And fulfill this condition to have your strength not completely suck."
Its the terrain. The new setups give us so many places to avoid LoS. It's a great time to be a Blood Angel.
our winrate depends mostly on terrain yes
When does it not?
This terrain set up encourages this lazy brainless melee meta. Just hide, move, hide, charge and table wipe a balanced army by T3 to win the game.

Index GSC aberrant; I used to be so powerful…
Reversing all the nerfs da boyz got in the last dataslate is necessary to help the da boyz.
When will you have more black auspex tactics dice on dice baron? They look so good but are not on the site anymore 😢
Bloodcrushers still have an absolutely broken ability. Points, durability, and 7 in a squad means that you're almost guaranteed to do at least 8-12 mortal wounds BEFORE combat starts..
Black templars are number 1 in melee.
Go Daemons!
Why are the blood angels allowed to have +2 str to attacks but WE get +1?
With the current setup, if you aren't playing necrons 80% melee, you are halving your chances to win.
Imperial guard melee is top tier
Melee is better because the objectif controled is the key to win game.
#1 Ben Jurek fan!
Orks are the best, always been
true
Going from Eldar to Marines this edition has been sad. The marines toughness is way too weak, and bolters are strength 4. I think if Marines got a bump in T and maybe a small buff to some weapons, they'd be more fun to play
Making Divergent Chapters straight up better than Compliant, no draw-backs, had to be one of the most stupid decisions of 10th edition.
i missed my skorpekh in 9 ed :'(
can us salamanders get a melee strat?
Don't sleep in grey knights.
The fact Tyranids aren't on the list makes me happy I don't play anymore.
Not a fan of TAUranids?
*cries in 60 plague marines in 6 rhinos*
Khorne cares not from “whence” the blood flows…
Hear me out: Death Guard
