    An absolute beauty. So 70s with the orange stripes. As an automotive painter for 26 plus years, I can really appreciate the condition of this car. I have a 1/24 scale exact copy of this Grabber version car on my shelf. We don't see these in Australia. I had 63 Ford Falcon I restored and won best Ford in show. I currently have a 71 Beetle I restored in my garage. Enjoy your amazing car.

    If this is the same car that was on BAT 3-4 years ago, and looks to of sold for 5k I wish I would’ve seen the listing. Would’ve gladly paid double.
    My dad had a new 73 Grabber 302 with every available option, except A/C. He had those wheels, which as you said are very rare. The graphics are actually decals, but they must be under the clear coat, as I have a OEM grabber hood decal new in the box that never got used on my dads car. Also still have the emblem off the trunk lid, that’s all that’s left of it. He sold it in 83, and the guy that bought it unfortunately was not nice to it, ended up getting crushed.
    I would love to have one someday, but the prices some people are asking for these nowadays, they’re dreaming, especially on ebay. At 5-10k though, sounds fair and reasonable.
    Good video, nice close up look.

    Ford should have offered a Cleveland CJ, and called it "Maverick GT".

    My first new car after I joined the Air Force was a 74 Maverick. Green with a white vinyl top. Not a Grabber, but did have a 302 under the hood. Sold it after 5 years and got a 79 Mustang Cobra.

    Yup.... My next door neighbor had the same year, when I was a kid. It was white with lime green stripes, plaid bucket seats, 8 track, and cotter pin hood.... All factory. Mind that she was in her 50's and even with the emissions, that car was so light, it hauled ass. When I was 14, she was selling the car to buy a Reagan bailout Chrysler product (She was a massive Republican). I had $500 saved up but I couldn't come up with the rest.... She wanted 1K but would take 800. LOL. These were cheap but very reliable cars.... I wish they weren't such rust buckets.

    Love the Maverick Grabbers. My older sister had a 73, white with blue trim, much like this one, but had the 302 v8 with the hood snouts, which I still love the look of to this day. My parents had 72 four door in kelly green, didn't like that one so much, lol.
    ps - I should add my other sister had a Dodge Dart Hang 10 edition, talk about a pair of funky 70's classics parked in our driveway!

    A Grabber with column shift?

    • @ironhead9507
      @ironhead9507 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had an identical one and it was column shift too probably because it was a 6 cylinder car

    Wow, I have the same car, I’ve owned since 1988, but mines a V8. Orange interior was only available in Grabbers, and Comet Gt’s so it’s somewhat uncommon.

    I love Mavericks. they were sharp looking, handled great, got great mileage, and were dependable.one thing that doesnt look right to me is the hood. I thought that in 74 all the Grabbers had the hoods with the 2 false scoops on them, even on the 6 cylinder cars.

    • @blueovalranch
      @blueovalranch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think they stopped the 2 scoops in either 72 or 73.

    • @todddenio3200

      @@blueovalranch they STARTED the scoops in 72 and I think continued them through to the end of the Grabber

      @@blueovalranch between my brothers and I, we have had over 20 Mavericks, including Grabbers

      The scoops in the hood were two years only, 71-72 and only on grabbers, my dad had a early production 73 grabber no scoops or glove box, later 73’s got a glove box.

    The paint on the dash, is a flat sheen paint on purpose. As with many many 70's cars and trucks, that was a factory anti glare safety feature by design. Every early 70's Mopar I've owned back in the day, were this same way. Dash metal parts were always a flat variation color. I'd say beyond even satin, but not quite a full on matte finish. Would be interesting to know more specifics on which makes of cars and trucks, and what years had this glare reducing safety flat paint.
    I love the specific shade of colors on this car as well. Special car! Especially as you say to be orig still, and preserved that well all these years. Lots of neat interiors were destroyed by the sun before they were even ten years old down in the SW deserts. I recall seeing a number of different Grabber Mavericks, back in the day, but never in cool colors like this. These were the economy compact cars of the day. These were competing with Dusters and Novas etc. Probably 70 - 80% had either a black interior or green. Then blue or white/parchment, tan or brown. Then the red, orange, or even yellows seemed exclusive to almost limited production rare trim/interior package models. I recall reading you could get a red interior in a Duster. I was a Duster nut owning several 340 cars way back when. Took years of watching auto trader ads before me and a buddy spotted a '70 340 Duster Rallye Red with a black and red column auto bucket seat factory interior. Never saw another Duster with a red or orange interior until years later in magazines. Did see 3 different Hang Ten package Dart Sports in the same wrecking yard back in the mid 80's. Those had mainly white, but with flat orange dash and orange carpet and other parts black if I recall right. Remember seeing factory sunroof cars too. Back when the auto wrecking yards had cars sit around for decades with no feds paying any attention, or caring what they did with fluids etc.
    Forsure though, the owner of this car is going to have a unique colored ride. I don't know if the Ford guys have like a annual Nationals get togethers like the Mopar guys do, but I'd think that might be the only chance of having two of these on the same property. Otherwise, rare as hens teeth. Beautiful screamin 70's colors

      Yeah that makes a lot of sense! I do to love the color combo of this thing! There is another video of it here when I first drove by it and saw it for the first time, it’s short check it out in my other videos!

    car kinda looks like its a bondo buggy to me

    • @blueovalranch
      @blueovalranch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to love that term! But honeslty it was a pretty solid old Maverick. There was a little filler hear and there, but nothing that was Bondo Abuse in my opinion. Yeah the could have blocked things out more, but hey for 5k what do you expect a pretty honest old car!
