God Of War: Ascension Elemental Blades Of Chaos Gameplay

- The only "main" weapon you get in the game is your blades of chaos. However, the blades can be infused with one of 4 "elements" (Ice, Fire, Soul, and lightning) that is supposed to change up the moveset and magic attack. How different are the elements are from one another is a mixed-bag.
here are the ''elements''
Fire of Ares: Unleash your fury and stun surrounding enemies with Ares' fire. Incarnating enemies yields Gold Orbs.
Ice of Poseidon: Summon the Ice of Poseidon to break blocks. Also allows breathing underwater. Freezing enemies yields large Red Orbs.
Lightning of Zeus: Electrify your enemies with the blinding quick attacks of Zeus. Electrocuting enemies yields Blue Orbs.
Soul of Hades: Release the souls of the Underworld to do your bidding. Vaporizing enemies yields Green Orbs.

Hades was the best element, better move set, good power, but Zeus blades sounded the best, that Thunder strike was powerful.

If you have the *Shield* and full Rage meter and press *Circle*, *Circle*, *Triangle*, and then switch elements when Kratos slams one of the blades of chaos into the ground, you can FUSE elements and combine the explosion at the end etc: the Lightning Strike + Flame Explosion, or Flame + Ice, or even combine all of them at once by scrolling through them quickly.

oh boy! this is a beast of a game in ps3 back in the days . so underrated . besides the medium storyline , ascension was a visual masterpiece in terms of detailing, weapons , and don't get me started on the combat system, its the crown jewel of this one of a kind ps3 game

The fire of the Ares, lighting of Zeus, and the souls of hades they were the main ones I use, the ice of Poseidon it didn't work out for me since it only freeze your enemies.

Idk why it failed I really liked it alot I like every God of war game actually
Compared to 1,2&3 the combat and enemies weren't as balanced or well designed like the trilogy. Acension was trying to fix a combat system that was never broken to begin with.
In my opinion, it is the only GoW with very good graphics. I just like how The Blades glow when you change magical power. The only thing that annoys me on The Blades is that when you change magical power, that red on the inside of The Blades remains and does not change.

13stivens God of War 3 was far ahead for its time when Santa Monica Studios was creating it back at 2009 or 2010? Yes it achieved many goals. Its graphics were far ahead. Other games at that year had worse graphics, but hey. SMS always tries for the best. God of War 3 had nice animations, but its graphics and geometry were not that good enough, because you know. They started a big project, they could have done it better. But at the end, the game recieved a lot of positive comments.

I played both between gow 3 and ascension more prefer gow ascension for the blade gameplay effect and gow 3 for the story

What does the ares fire specialize in? It seems to only ha e three levels
It was the first element you get, and it had to have 3 lvls for sake of tutorial and showing the player the concept magic of the element and rage attack, which you have to upgrade to lvl 3 and 5 to achieve, fire had them on start for the sake or tutorial

Hmmmm... Which element is the strongest I wonder. I've been using zeus's mainly thinking electricity is the ultimate element but then again the ice element looks a lot more vicious yet seems to be one of the weakest of the four.... I'm happy to receive any advice on the matter and indeed your own personal preferences.
It really depends on situations.
If you need HP, use Soul
If you need MP, use Thunder
If you're have an OCD to max level equipments, use Ice
And if you're just using this game to vent your anger or needed to fill you rage meter, use Fire.

How do you use the normal blades if you can't what's the point of leveling them up anyway if I can't use them plz anyone help me here
You lvl normal blades for base damage increase, some moves that are general in all elements and increase in rage meter at max lvl, elements a bonus damage, but not that much.
And no, you can not go back to white blades, like why would you? You have perma bonus damage

Nope each class has advantage and disadvantage Ares class has the most physical damage in class but can be overwhelmed by magic damage.
This is a fucking hack and slash game not rpg, it does nit matter at all, i have beat the game ice only for the fun of it, and it works, this is nit like gow 2018 at all

If Gow Ascension is the prequel of the god of war 1 then why in God of War 1 there's no blade of chaos with ice element? I can really tell they got lazy making this game.

The new Chaos Blades are way too powerfull to handle for the NPCs in difficulty Low to Hard...You definetly have to play God Mode or the Game becomes damn boring!!! But I really love this game...I hope there will be a God of war 4 or something like that ^^

Guys, every element is the best if you use them aright. I mean strategically. For example, when you have some life remained, choose Hades Soul then kill some enemies and when they have been killed they give you green orbs.

Played this game and for real only use fire or lighting, not strategic enough to get more complex than that haha
It depends on the definition you give to that word. If you mean what is the element that causes more damage per hit, is the Fire of Ares. But if you mean what is the most useful, it depends on your gameplay style, since each element provides different forms of gameplay. The Poseidon Ice serves neutralize enemies, for example.

Yes, in fact, that is why he has unlimited magic, rage, and an alternate costume as well. All are unlocked for a second playthrough, but any trophy hunters will not be able to earn trophies while in new game plus mode.
I'm still not done with the game, but the artifacts you find throughout the game give you those added bonuses aside from the outfits. That I believe is just awarded for completion of the main game. There are 7 outfits in all but no humerous ones like in past games. :-(

you can only use some combos when your are in rage.
Actually, quite opposite
You can use all combos and enhance some when rage meter is full, some moves in fact are locked unless you get to have full rage meter, which was a dumb decision

The abilities(rage and magic) in the souls and lightining are better but the moves in ice amd fire have more damage
The best magic is lightining the best rage is arme of hades the best moves goes to fire of ares
So my advice in upgrading is
Upgrade the lightining of zues max the ice the souls of hades to level 3 and the blades of chaos to level 3 and you can choose for the other stuff
If you want larg amount of red orps just maximise ice of poseidon and use it only with small enemies
