Think about it: your brain is seeing male body language, male demeanor the whole time, and then in the end youre seeing a woman. It is literally reprogramming your brain to not make a difference anymore between gender markers. Pure neo-feminist propaganda and social engineering.
Disney are going to milk this franchise just like Star Wars until people seen through the veneer of the Marvel label. Of course the 'supposed' terrible writers and directors wont be held to account because its the audiences fault you dont like it!
Remember when you were a little kid playing GI Joe, Transformers, super heroes or something and a parent decided to squat down and join you but it was strange and not fun at all because they had no idea how to relate and tried way too hard to turn your imaginary scene into a morality lesson? Note to Kevin Feige: at this point, it would be a bigger subversion of expections to actually have a male character played by a male actor and not be gender-swapped.
Exactly. Thing is, I don't mind if they wanna have some characters female. A female taskmaster would work, if done right. However, when you're just swapping genders to be politically correct, it's just a massive eye roller.

@Gabriella Maroney Fans of original Star Wars, yes. As a kid, I saw Star Wars in the theatre on opening weekend. In the early 2000's me and my coworkers teased new hires and interns who were born after Return of the Jedi was release, calling them "Post-Jedi", lol. Now that label applies to anyone who is 38 years of age or younger.
@Gabriella Maroney No, but even though I was a real little kid and hadn't seen that many movies yet, we all knew it was something really special and it instantly became my favorite movie for years (at least until the Empire Strikes Back came out). I think we probably saw it three times in the theater that summer. "We" being my parents and siblings. It was neat - I literally had no idea what the movie was about except that it was a science fiction movie. My parents told me years later that they knew me and my brothers loved it because, unlike when we usually went to movies, while watching Star Wars we were riveted to our seats throughout the entire movie - every single time we saw it.
I remember watching this and feeling bad for all the men in the theater. It was incredibly frustrating to see every male shown in the most incompetent light. I never knew who the red guardian was, and I still dont, but for a person dosed with some form of super serum, he should have been much more effective and independent.

If you don’t mind, please enlighten me my dude, as I’m genuinely curious?
@sandrakiefler4649 I'm a woman not a dude. And I highlighted it because it's incredibly frustrating, and it made me so annoyed because a) I like the actor, b) it was such wasted plot/writing potential and c) it lessens the heroines as well, that their competition/villain and male counterparts are so pathetic makes them look pathetic as well. It's annoying and badly done, and it should have been done better. Heroes are as good as their villains. Heroes that defeat pathetic villains are just irritating. There's tons of films and TV shows that wrote strong females without lessening the men. Arcane would be a good example.
By the time Hollywood finally decides to turn things around, we will have moved on entirely by enjoying other things like independent entertainment from online content creators.
I love how Disney, in order to show ungenuine women empowerment, shows all the female characters smart, powerful and funny and the only “good” male, Red Guardian, as a goofy, brute and stupid hero. 🤦♂️
This is how they were creating "strong female characters" for years now. Strong but only when everyone else is weak. Competent but only when everybody else isn't. Etc. Also have them never actually working for their powers and just getting them for nothing (compare magical "training" of Wanda in Wandavision with training of Stephen in his movie). Even as a teenage girl when I compare those "strong" characters to female characters from older movies I wanna laugh becouse it's a joke.
I haven´t seen this movie but I bet the goofy, stupid Red Guardian is still more likable character than all the Mary Sues combined because he feels like a real human being.
OK so I wasn't the only one then who thought that might happen. Biracial Jai Courtney came off like such an overcompensating simp that I kept waiting for an ulterior motive reveal, either "I AM Taskmaster!" or possibly a double-cross where he gave Ross a heads up which could've been turned into Natasha's Batman gambit and eliminated the business where she turned on her locator to draw Ross's forces in.
Nah he was just a stunt cast as a "red herring". He wasn't supposed to be anyone important in the movie. His only purpose was to misdirect viewers. Pretty lazy anyways.
The plotholes are massive: - the family spoke perfect English 20 years ago now suddenly have thick accents - spies should not have thick accents when speaking major world languages - Yelena sending her most important mcguffin to Budapest safehouse makes no sense - having one-man supplier to go int hiding makes no sense. So the paranoid Thunderbolt Ross wouldn't be looking for the one guy who buys helicopters and even quinjets? - Tattooing while arm wrestling - Alexei could leave anytime - prison built under avalanche-prone valley - red room on the sky , no satellite or spy planes or simple telescope pick it up??? 20 dollars telescope definitely can see that - Nat and Yelena being banged inside cars that roll around, getting out without any injury - pheromone lock, can't just step back out of the room or wear a gas mask????? Have hightech holographic face shifter mask but can't get simple gas mask? -- just tens to hundreds plotholes that are jarring, and these are bad even by MCU film standard.
Half of these are just minor nit picks do better. Spies and their accents only really matter when they are in the field doing a job, them normal chatting doesn’t matter. Alexei could have not. When she was doing "why you do that thing" and she was STRUGGLING to crouch, it was painful to watch. ScarJo trained hard for Ironman2, Florence Pugh did not train for this. It shows.
The nose break (nerve severing) was silly, how they introduced Taskmaster was a waste, the impossible fall for a (decidedly non-super) human being, etc...I enjoyed the movie but the BS was noticeable.
I cringed at the nose break scene. It was so ridiculous and fake, like she feels no pain at all and fixed her nose back like it's nothing. BAD WRITING!
I like the part where what should've been the most serious scene of the movie - of Yelena standing at Nat's grave - is quickly ruined by an equivalent of a fart sound. Great job Marvel. Keep hiring talentless hacks for writers.
You know the scene in Ragnarok where it happens and they make a really flippant joke about people losing their home? That's the equivalent of the post credit scene.
I don't have words for how let down I am that they ruined Taskmaster. He is literally my favorite designed character in almost any media franchise. It's sad.
Mark Ruffalo is the worst. I remember when there was controversy over Ellen Degeneres sitting beside George W Bush. I don't really care at all about Ellen or her show but when she responded by calling for people to be kind, I saw Mark Ruffalo blast her on Twitter and cite war crimes and so on. Of course he was praised by the typical Hollywood congregation for shaming the sinner in their midst, but if you go to Google Image Search you can find pictures of Mark with Barack Obama.... a man who blew up thousands and thousands of people with drones from the sky, so damn many of them civilians. So maybe Mark should be less judgmental of others for who they hang out with?
This reminds me of Kathleen Kennedy telling the Star Wars Fandom "There was NO SOURCE MATERIAL........" This is what you get when you have people w/o the necessary Bonafides writing/directing a movie they shouldn't be writing/directing. Think of it this way, it would be like taking your below average daily driver & putting him/her behind the wheel of a Formula F1 SUPER CAR & then saying "GO WIN!"
They retconned the EU out of existence while cherry picking minor elements from it anyway (but to poor effect) for the sequel trilogy. When it comes to the original trilogy, I expect Kennedy just pretends it doesn't exist. It's like buying a pizza on pizza night, immediately throwing it in the bin, throwing up your hands and saying oh, what a shame, there's NO PIZZA... then serving cheap frozen pizza that's only half cooked before behaving like a petulant child when people don't come back to your pizza night. No one's expectations are being subverted when you put people with no genuine interest, respect or even understanding in charge of a media product. Of course, there couldn't be anything wrong with the pizza, so it must just be that we hate the people who made it because of what they are. Makes perfect sense.
That's because you're not clever enough to understand the genius of it. You see, the Taskmaster improved itself and "became transgender." It's now the Transmaster. Enjoy!

Somebody needs to tell Hollywood already that humans don't actually have pheromone receptors, unlike most mammals. That's part of why we evolved language, because we can't communicate by scent. Every time I see somebody even use the word "pheromone" in a movie, I immediately clock out, because it almost always means that the writer didn't care enough to do their homework.
Even though what you are saying is correct, I find there are a lot of people who report at least general scent and odor being a strong factor in their attraction sometimes, so with very little effort they could adjust things to say something like that maybe.
@@aFoxyFox. using this movies logic it’s like saying “I couldn’t hit him because he smelled so good”. I literally can’t even make that sound any good at all. It’s actually impossible for someone to not inflict harm on another because of a pheromone. Even in a movie it makes zero sense.
We have pheromone receptors, but it works on subconscious level, in other words you aren´t aware you smell something (too weak sense of smell) but your body still reacts to it. Smell plays a big role in our choices of partners. But the way the pheromones stuff is portrayed in this movie is a total bull*hit anyway.

I've never seen the series "A Handmaid's Tale." I wonder if they would let me write a script for one of the episodes and film it? I really can’t shake the feeling that Marvel’s best days are behind it and that makes me really sad. I just can’t get excited about Shang-Chi, and Eternals mostly looks dull from the trailers, though I might give it a chance if the reviews are decent. Phase 4 is really looking lackluster in general. I really don’t understand the people who are so excited about it. 🤷🏻♂️
I will say, WandaVision was kind of fun, and Loki was fantastic. FAWS probably would have been better without the covid issues, but it was an okay distraction.
I did.
I feel like Atomic Blonde was what Black Widow should have been. The tough and sexy superspy done right. Not…whatever this film turned out to be.
Man, Atomic Blonde is super rewatchable in my house. I can turn it on and my son will appear on the couch from nowhere. That movie is brutal and the action is awesome.
Red Sparrow as well.
@@anubusx I never did get around to seeing Red Sparrow. I just remember hearing some controversy because the main character almost gets raped or something? Anyway, is it good?
@@Garrus1995
Better than Black Widow. Although i think it drew a lot of inspiration from the comics.
@@Garrus1995 The book was much better.
This review was far more passionate and entertaining than the actual film. Thank you Gary
It was interesting to see Natasha do a cameo in Yelena and Red Guardian’s movie.
Lol
Natasha and Red Guardian cameo in Florence Pugh movie.
they totally wasted Red Guardian! they could've made him into a older slower Zangief tactical fighter....nope made him into a joke, Taskmaster...I..I..can't....
@@Littletime839 True!
@@Littletime839 that's the MCU theme
Couldn't have Hawkeye in the movie, wouldn't have been "empowering" to have even a single competent male character who wasn't a pervert.
I know I'm late but that intro was gold! Her slamming her own face into the desk is the perfect metaphor for this film👍
Damn, I miss good marvel movies. I guess my ol collection will have to do.
Gotta respectfully disagree, Ruffalo is a disgrace, I'd take Edward Norton back anyday.
Norton would have been incredibly out of place as part of the ensemble. He's a lead and that wasn't the intent for Bruce Banner.
I think Ruffalo as hulk is great, am a massive fan of Edward Norton, but he doesn’t really fit as hulk, especially if his Bruce banner was written as mark ruffalo Bruce banner.
I also disagree, Edward norton was a very bland bruce and hulk, his whole entire movie was utter garbage.
Agreed, his Bruce is much better than Ruffatlo. Norton has that edgy undercurrent of anger that Bruce has, and his movie was much better than it gets credit for.
Nonsense.
I’m not getting my hopes up for marvel movies anymore. Especially mutants they are going to fuck all that up.
I dunno. I think they did a good job on Loki
I dunno I heard that a fantastic four movie will be made. Also the next Spider-Man, doctor strange, ant man, and guardians will hopefully be good and then after those movies come out it will probably just be pure dogshit
I am compelled to remember that scene from the first Hitman movie where 47 had to fight a bunch of others like himself. It was a good scene because everyone in the scene who was fighting understood each other's history. By that I mean each person had the same training and brainwashing. Despite that however, none of them felt as though they should hold back. I bring this up because I personally feel that BW should not have had any problems fighting the others, mostly because she was in some way one of them and with that understanding knows what each one is capable of despite their programming.
"i dont know which cell to look at" - ok i am old, but, when we were kids, we were reading comics, everybody did. Why the hell did you take up to do a comic book character if you cant read comic?
Well to be fair, people these days are choosing manga more than ever. Next time they get an American comic by accident they might start reading it from the back through instinct 🤣
@@viscountrainbows6452 Sure, I understand shift in interest and all, but this person literally cannot "follow which cell too look at". That's far from classic/manga clash. Begs a question of basic cognitive and other skills, although it is actually just pure ignorance and mediocrity that drives her to say stuff like that. But if you really want to be ignorant and dont care about anything, then, dont make movies based on comics.
@@earlsfield Absolutely. I wouldn't act in ANYTHING adaptive unless I knew the medium it came from and the history of the character. I'm not even a paid actor but I feel like these jackasses are just resting on their laurels of millions and don't care to entertain us anymore because for the time being, they are still scraping by. But in short, we may just see a crash that'll have them begging for us to come back.
I have no interest in watching this or any other Marvel and Disney movie until there is a significant shift in their virtue signalling and identity politics.
But this arguably didn’t.
It was fairly priced on pirate bay.
Yes, and still a boring shit movie.
No. They should be paying me to watch this shit show.

Even on pirate bay it cost too much for this crap "movie".

So Yelena went from being controlled by the evil Drakov to being manipulated by the evil Val ... How exactly is that a character arc? Looks like a static character, not a dynamic one to me.
she doesnt know shes evil?
I love your use of that clip by the oh, so obnoxious Grace Randolph 🤣
ScarJo banging her head on the desk was me watching by that point.

But that booty tho
It is in full glory in Under the skin.
Yep, it’s dumb to pretend that men aren’t going to watch the movie to lust after her. It’s like pretending people bought Playboy for the articles.
That taskmaster was badass until I learned it was a 19 year old girl with a scar, *BEEP*ing pathetic, taskmaster has always been a bloody mystery man that learns how people fight with his bloody EYES NOT A PAIR OF FUTURISTIC GLASSES!!!!! IM DONE WITH MARVEL!!!
I knew much earlier who was going to be behind the mask. It was so obvious what they were going to be doing.
As well the person who was bind the mask was clearly played by a man.
Am I the only one that can't see Florence Pugh as black widow? She just doesn't look flexible or athletic at all. Her fight scenes didn't look believable at all.
Nope and I don't get the excitement for her in future films 😴
If someone actually breaks their nose, it won’t cut off their sense of smell. The sense of smell is connected to the brain.
I like the part where what should've been the most serious scene of the movie - of Yelena standing at Nat's grave - is quickly ruined by an equivalent of a fart sound. Great job Marvel. Keep hiring talentless hacks for writers.
I like Julia Louis-Dreyfus but I hate her performance as Val. I don't get what her deal is and she ruined that scene
You know the scene in Ragnarok where it happens and they make a really flippant joke about people losing their home?
That's the equivalent of the post credit scene.
@@idawg7332 I think that's the point. Her character isnt supposed to be a good person and she was mocking Nats death

"Allowing Mark Ruffalo to speak publicly about ANYTHING!" LMFAO
I also laughed out loud. Gary is great. XD
Is it too late to bring back Edward Norton?
I'M MARK RUFFALO!!! STOP BREATHING!!!! IT'S BAD!!!!
@@JDela10 Yeah. Him and Chris Evans. Clueless morons who have no connection to reality.
This reminds me of Kathleen Kennedy telling the Star Wars Fandom "There was NO SOURCE MATERIAL........"
This is what you get when you have people w/o the necessary Bonafides writing/directing a movie they shouldn't be writing/directing.
The Taskmaster gender swap was so hilariously funny especially after it was revealed that the stunt actor was a man! Bwahahaha!
Weakest twist ever. BW and TM didnt have the bonding like Steve and Bucky, this movies is like a gender swap bad copy of The Winter Soldier.
That's because you're not clever enough to understand the genius of it. You see, the Taskmaster improved itself and "became transgender." It's now the Transmaster. Enjoy!

The Red Letter Media review is up. Mike laid out a way more compelling story arc for the stand alone Black Widow movie. Disney and Hollywood is a bunch of woke hacks that think we’re as stupid as they actually are. 🐾
Truth!
Real life is always half in the bag :P
We didn't "evolve" language. We developed language by designed.
oh shut up lmao.

Looks like Master of Disguise
Right!?!? They obviously had to bulk out her costume to attempt to look similar to the stunt MAN but it makes her look so tiny inside of it. If it wasn't known that she complained about how heavy the outfit was I'd say they just did a crappy green screen to put her head on his body.
Don't compare the ninja turtles with that garbage they decide to called "taskmaster"
I've never seen the series "A Handmaid's Tale." I wonder if they would let me write a script for one of the episodes and film it? I mean, that's what Marvel seems to be doing with their franchise, just taking someone who can skim over some source material and then try to come up with a story that might be interesting, regardless what the real fans of the show might think...
Just take Sharia Law in a Muslim Majority country and slap a cross on it, blame Orange Man
It's embarrassing that they could have gotten a female stunt performer to be taskmaster so there would be some consistency. smh
