i found the video where Justin discusses the laying pads and the issues he was having. His issue was poopy eggs and the time it took to wash them. Luckily, he covers it all within the first few minutes... The video is called...
'How Were Planning Our 2024 Abundance Garden' and its just from a couple days ago...
    Good luck! 👍

Wow, I really love your coop. I think it's the best I've ever seen for 12-20 chickens. It looks solid, it's protecting them, and the shaded area acts as a windbreak. I love your idea about the mid-height floor that they can get up to (shall we call it 'The Penthouse'?) and have their poop fall through. Track where the Sun rises and sets on your horizon, and face your coop to the South midway between them. It's not exactly due South but close enough, and besides you'll be moving this coop.
I mean it. This coop is even better than Justin Rhodes coops. Your main issue will be wheels, and providing leverage so that it can be moved easily by yourself.
Did you build this? It's great!

Thank you!! And no I bought it off marketplace from a carpenter! He did a great job. I’m super happy with it. I’m going to be super excited once we get it mobile. Happy chickens!

@pranarain You sure found a great buy! 😀 With respect to your eggs and the boxes, just turn them around from your outside access when you don't want to give them access from inside. Also, if you watch Justin's vid today, he speaks of great success early in the video with getting clean eggs now, as he has switched to laying pads for his chix. But chickens will still find a way....... 💩

@cassandrathatsme4382 I know! I got so lucky. I’m trying to figure out how to make it so I can block them off. Because right now they’re just built in. I haven’t heard of laying pads I’ll have to watch that video!

i tried pausing the video to better see your nesting boxes.
Is it possible that milk crates can fit into those cubby's? then you can control their entering by turning the crates around. Or, do you think you can hang a horizontal- hinged door, that you can just raise/lower when you want to? It doesnt even have to be of heavy material and you could even have it on a string or pully that you can control from outside..
And why am i thinking of all these ways to keep the chlickens out? Lol.

Haha that’s what I wanted to do but they’re too small unfortunately. But I’m sure I’ll figure it out! Especially with Seth coming this weekend. Thanks for the ideas as always ❤️
