I never grabbed my sheep (with my crook) by the neck, I always just got behind them and snagged a rear leg and then grabbed the leg with my hand. Worked great

My grandfather would catch them and pet them for about 30 minutes until they calmed down. While petting them he would slowly work the back edge of the blade using a gentle petting motion across their neck. He would work the back of the blade past the wool until it reached the skin above the jugular. He would part the wool exposing the skin. The sheep would relax and really enjoy it. Then he would flip the blade 180 degrees and make the fatal cut in one stroke. They were so calm they Marley even reacted and bled out fast.

Here in the Deep South, it was always the common thing to have a big dinner around noon and a light supper before bed, so this is just a return to tradition, as far as I can see.
If I could eat anyway I wanted, my big meal of the day would be around 2-4 and I would do things like fruit and cheese crackers at night.

My husband's about your age, and he too has one certain place where just ONE hair grows extra long!
    It's so funny!!
His is on one of his eyebrows! And it sticks STRAIGHT OUT!!
I call it "The Flagpole" !!
We keep a pair of scissors in the car bcuz that's usually where I notice The Flagpole waving around !!
I don't know how he never notices it, but he doesn't!
Of coarse, I would never let his get as long as yours!!
Can you IMAGINE - from your eyebrow!!! 😆😆😆
It's so funny, makes me laugh every time!!
So Justin, I'm here to remind you:
You forgot to cut down that flagpole!! ❤
    And
    Congratulations on the book!!

LOVE watching you and your beautiful family. Inspired by all. Brings me so much joy to see your beautiful family growing in every way and reminds me of the special past I had raising my 3 boys and "attachment" and non-violent parenting that you both practice as I did. You are both amazing parents to those beautiful kids and it WILL pay you handsomely in the years to come (my boys are living proof that it is/was totally worth any felt sacrifice I ever made). Thank you ALL so much for sharing.
A note more for "The Beautiful One": I've noticed how extremely knowledgeable you already are about being HEALTHY and living HEALTHY, but just in case you were unaware because I've noticed a couple of things in the videos posted, (zero judgement or criticism at all whatsoever) just some knowledge sharing to think about; our skin is the largest ORGAN of our bodies. Every single thing we put on it (shampoo, deodorant, etc. even laundry soaps and such) goes inside the body. Usually straight to the lymphatic system. All products with names we can scarcely pronounce (synthetic chemicles) and artificial fragrances affect the body and can be hormone disrupters and can affect the thyroid function, which is part of the endocrine system. When we breathe in the unnatural fragrances (think VOC's), those affect hormone regulation (much complicated subject that not everyone agrees on). When we use deodorant, not only does it keep us from sweating out toxins by clogging up those pores, the lymph nodes under our arms absorb the chemicles in the deodorant (just ONE of the reasons breast cancer is so much more prevelant now [breastfeeding reduces your risk of BC 50%, btw]). I learned about this many, many years ago while doing research on other things (before I ever even had a thought about going to Nursing school and learned more on how the human body works). I did breastfeed/nurse my boys for altogether over the course of 10 years and just plain stopped wearing deodorant altogether when I started nursing and continued the tradition. No one EVER complains about my body odor (I don't really have any because of other "healthy" lifestyle choices). Some of the medical professionals I work with have teased me, or admonished, about my "dirty hippie" ways when I've shared the no deodorant wearing for 20 plus years. They will even come over and sniff me to see if I "stink" (no freakin' boundaries at all whatsoever in the Healthcare field, lol. I'll even laugh and raise my armpit up to their noses [yes, physicians also]). I'm 54 and enjoy very good health as a result of those so called "dirty hippie" ways (zero medications, normal vitals, labs and all screenings, and run circles around coworkers half my age physically, as well as mentally). I heard both of you mention about deodorant in the video, so I just wanted to share. We've been so conditioned, essentially brainwashed, as a society to use all these products that are so bad for our health. There are natural deodorants available that do not cause the harm that commercial products do. Or, ways to make your own (challenging right now with all you currently have on the proverbial plate).
My fave deodorant, used just for summertime in 90 plus degree weather with 90 plus percent humidty and going out to a fancy type restaurant, or something of that nature, with a new acquaintance has been something that used to be called Primal Pit Paste. Its on Amazon. I think it has coconut oil, or Shea butter as the base. I love the lavender one. One application will actually keep you relatively "odor" free for like 3 days. I've gone on a 10 mile bicycle ride and didn't shower until next morning (I also do not bathe everyday if I've spent most of the time on "in the house" type projects/work. Helps your skins' natural microbiome), and still NO "body odor". Everyone I suggest this product to that has tried it is absolutely amazed.
I wish you all continued good fortune and health. So glad to see how much Justin has improved. I can only imagine how challenging this inflammatory response has been on all of you. I'm sending all healing thoughts ya'lls way. 🥰🥰😘😘

I have heard it said eat like a prince for breakfast, a king for midday and a pauper at days end. My heart grandparents were cattle ranchers. Breakfast was hearty but not huge, supper was midday and was meat and potatoes and veggies, dinner was maybe a bowl of soup or often a bowl of total with fruit. I can still here my Papa say Dish me up a bowl of them berries Honey 😁

I use chunky gloves to pump my gas, and keep those gloves in the glove compartment. They're very handy to put the credit card in after swiping it in the pump; I slip the card between my glove and the top of my hand; when I re-enter the car to leave, I slip the card from the glove and place it back in my purse. (never in my long life have I ever seen anybody wipe the pump handle, so using gloves gives me a measure of comfort. : )

My sister & Bro n Law (MX) ALWAYS did a good breakfast (eggs, meat, carb & fruit) with lemon water (room temp - first thing upon waking) first w/fresh squeezed at home OJ (every day), main meal at lunch (@ 2-3 PM) consisting of light soup, meat, veggies, carbs, salad and fruit and small dinners consisting of (1/2 sammich, salad, fruit, or etc) night time. Lots of fruit juices (homemade) at lunch. No added sugars. Watermelon, cantaloupe, tamarind, mango. Honey instead of sugar. Bro n Law was a Dr. (Uroulogists) sis was a Nurse. Deserts were fruits or Jello (yeah) unless special occasion. Ice creams, etc were a daytime "treat" and you walked to get them (for miles) & back home, especially the "sugar breads (Latin)" at Breakfast....Maybe 1/2 for kiddies at night w/raw hot chocolate. Reason was their elevation. Higher elevations make you sick if you eat a lot late. Hope this helps with your commitment to eat big early. Their elevation was 7592 according to Wiki . Lomas De Chapultepec, MX. I've stopped eating large late and sleep much better. 2-3 is my goal time frame for my main these days.
