I worked for a large bottle shop in Indy about 15 years ago. One Sunday, the owner took us to Bardstown for a private tour and tasting at Buffalo Trace. They rolled five barrels into a room. We tasted and voted for our favorite two, since the owner was buying them. The winners were the two I voted for! I voted for them because they were the sweetest. A couple weeks later, the bottles came, each with a little sticker, "Bottled for Kahn's Fine Wines." The whole day was like living in a bourbon commercial, with sunlight streaming through the windows and reflecting off the dust as we held up tasting glasses.
I also got to taste a Utopias. It tasted like barley wine, not beer. I hated it.

Great hunting! I almost always watch all the way through and I did this time because my son has been in the Austin area the last month on business. I had asked him to hunt a little, but he hadn’t yet. After watching this video, I actually called Galaxy Liquors and talked to Kareem. Super nice guy! I told him the three bottles I wanted ( the Buffalo Trace stuff is impossible to find where I’m at). He quoted me $69.99 for E.H. Taylor Small Batch, $69.99 for Eagle Rare (I know that’s still high) and $150.00 for Stagg. My son headed over to pick them up. Some of you may say I still paid too much and you’re probably right, but I can’t find these at home and if I could it would be at least twice as much. Again, super nice guy and willing to negotiate even over the phone. Thanks Kareem and thanks Brewzle!

3.2% beer essentially became obsolete in October 2018 in Oklahoma. I went to OKC for the first time in late September 2018, and as a Wisconsinite, having super shitty light beer as the primary option was highly disappointing. October onward was definitely better, but I remember how big of a deal it was to everyone at the time.

towards the end - the bubble. Yes, Tequila was hot a few years ago & is going to get so again. It, like bourbon, has limiting resources in its production. For Bourbon, the white oak for the barrels is a concern. With tequila, it's worse - the actual agave plant. Each plant requires 5'-8', takes 7 years to mature, and yields 8-9 bottles...

Galaxy is right next to my work. I’ve only been in there once and saw Weller 12 for $299. 😂 picked the same bottle up at Specs a couple of weeks ago for about $47. Oak Liquor Cabinet is great. Found a Benchmark Peach there for $7!!! lol!!

That liquor store putting all their allocated stuff on the floor is actually pretty smart cause not many people would expect it to be there and if people ask them what allocated they have they can say “what we got is out there” 😂

Im not mad at the pappy prices because they are 2x higher here. On another note i secured a 2023 GTS for msrp on monday so were starting 2024 off right. Best advice to everyone new to the game “build relationships with store owners over small bottles and barrel picks. Buying store picks has given me my whole allocated collection.”

If that "beer barrel" is from New Holland, it is an amazing low cost whiskey. They aged Dragon's Milk, a fantastic imperial milk stout in their whiskey barrels, then turn and age whiskey in the barrels the beer sat in. It's amazing how much it mellows out a $30-$40 whiskey. Like to the point it would surprise me if they doubled it, haven't seen in since I moved back East after living in CO a few years back

That guy in the last store, Raj I think it was. He is the type of store owner you want to buy from simply because of how nice he is and how respectful. You feel bad if you leave without buying anything. His employees also looked like they enjoyed their job there!

We had the pappy van winkle 20 year, hands down my favorite. It was bought for $100 almost 10 years ago maybe less. We recently won a raffle for the 10 year pappy van winkle which around here sells for about $800-$1000. Honestly it was good but def not worth the money when comparing it to the 20 year pappy.
