Thanks for the review! I was "gifted" this saddle as my first saddle setup and probably only one I'll ever have as I'm a western hunter. I think a lot of the problems you encountered can be easily resolved with some modifications. As soon as I opened the package I immediately tossed out the lineman's and tether ropes. They're way to bulky/large and poor quality. I also cut off that horrible nylon bridge. They were replaced with handmade Amsteel linemans and and adjustable bridge. The bridge length is adjustable and I used prussic knots attaching the bridge so that the bridge can be moved up and down the actual saddle to adjust tension on the hips or bottom. I dont use a tether since I single stick and have a rappel rope that acts as my tether. I assume after 2 years you've probably changed or replaced this set up. Anyone looking at this set up should consider making similar mods to get the best out of this setup. You had some great tips about setup however and that's greatly appreciated!
Great video! I use climbers, lock-on's and a saddle. I personally like climbers better because I have used them for 35 years and that what I'm comfortable with. I think that they all have there place but none are perfect.
Like the honesty that's what I've been looking for right there was thinking about buy 1 of the Hawk saddles just to start but now I am just going to buy the jx3 for sure and stick with my viper
I have been using mine now for a week without a climbing platform. I was using it with just the climbing sticks and it was torture just like you said. The last 2 days I've been using it with a platform and it is significantly better with a platform I don't know what makes the difference if you're able to spread out your legs more or what but using it with a platform makes it much much better than with climbing sticks
Yes hawk saddles are cheaper and for me and a lot of people that’s just what you have to go to. With that being said their are better saddles. But I have used the hawk for a couple years now, and found that simply using the back strap that comes with solves a LOT of these problems.
Good honest review.. haveing never hunted out if one I can see the benefits of haveing one for use in certain situations and was thinking about getting one but haveing a total hip replacement I think I’ll pass after hearing about the pressure points
From every video I've seen, even the ones from G2 outdoors (tethyrd guy), that is common with all amsteel bridges. It's literally the end of the bury coming out and not a concern
Saddles are not for me at all I’ve always loved climbers I run a summit open shot but I see where a lock on should be in my arsenal what do you think about the hawk ultra lite lock on
Man I love my climber too much! upgraded the seat and I could sleep in it over night if I wanted to! Any tree I can fit my arms around my stand will climb. My big ass is not gonna sit in one of these. I wanted to bc of hte lighweight but just not worth it
The ropes are crap. Toss them. The saddle is great for me. But the only other problem I have is that from one end to the other side is just a bit short.
hawk saddle is worst representation of a saddle product there is to be fair and john eberhart has really informational videos on saddle hunting (hes done it for 40ish years) he explains how to not get hip pain and easily shoot all angles
I really want to get into saddle hunting but it's really expensive and let's be honest. All your really doing is standing or leaning, which is just a fancy word for standing lol I can do that for free
This review is only accurate for this guy with that gear! That’s a very limited perspective on saddle hunting. I know that he means well, but you can tell he has no idea what he’s talking about. Incorrect terminology, doesn’t understand the equipment, bought the cheapest stuff you can get and is complaining about it not being durable. Well that’s what you get!
When I want an honest review this is where I come. Anything I’ve bought that you’ve reviewed has been pretty spot on
@@Bry_nlch man thank you
Really informative. Thanks for the upload i feel like you are a natural speaker.

I use a saddle and a hang on stand. I’ll fold up the seat to stand on the platform, and the seat comes in handy after a few hours in the saddle.
Same here buddy I haven’t seen many people doing that but it makes sense to me lol. Keep at em’ 🦌

Great review! 100% accurate
Is it the pressure of the body that causes it to compact and put pressure on your pelvis and hips?

Where’d you get that pouch for the therma cell?
Mine came with it!

Did you have any problems with the ropes?
@@shadow0919wrap some hockey tape around the loop where the rope rubs against itself and should be good for a decent while

I’ve got another review coming soon on a different saddle that isn’t near as bad with the hot spots! Thanks for the love!
How does it feel to the lower back?

Good review... let me know about Tethrd! That’s what I really want, with the rope mans
Hey boss go to my channel and scroll though the stand reviews I just dropped the tethed video like last week! Hope it helps!

Garbage
Novix helo or xop evo ! Anything else that’s worth a damn will cost a weeks paycheck and overpriced considerably for wt they are
What camera mount and camera you suggest
I run a canon g50 and a muddy outfitter.
Try the cruzer xc ur about my size and that’s the only saddle I can use and it’s way more comfortable
Thanks! I’ll check them out!
Hey man good review. Do you wear the back recliner that comes with the saddle?
I did yes when in a smaller tree it certainly helps
Cool, man I can’t make the call on if I should buy a saddle or not. Did you ever try the tetherd?
Yes sir the video on it drops Wednesday

I just bought one of these Hawks hope it's not as bad as what you're making it out to be but I'm believing you're straight up
It is certainly something you can (make work).
I did hunt out of it five days in a row while hunting in south Florida it just was not pleasant
The ropes are crap. Toss them. The saddle is great for me. But the only other problem I have is that from one end to the other side is just a bit short.
Well I have a TX5 on the way! So we will see!
Fancy
I’m replacing my hawk bridge and tether with amsteel ropes.
Solid choice
Hawk saddles are the dollar general of saddles.
It’ll do in a pinch… but that’s about it
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors be a pretty bad pinch lol.
😂🤣😂🤣
Is it really that bad? I don’t have the money to go tethrd . Is it worth getting or should I hold out?

Yep
Promotion pads 😂
Good review again. After watching it, I’m not interested in one.
Prusik knot. Not Preswick knot or whatever you are mumbling.

Yeah I’m not a fan of saddles hard to sit still and to damn expensive
Don’t give the product an unfavorable review if you’re not using it correctly. Wow!
I been bow hunting for 30 yrs, here’s some advice, lower your poundage! It’s too much ! Trust me! You struggling
Thanks
