  • This video illustrates some of the applications that were taught at our Seienchin ( Seiyunchin) seminar. This seminar examined a few of the many possible bunkai for the kata Seienchin.
To learn and practice these applications please seek instruction under the supervision of a qualified Sensei.

Can anyone post applications where it is not someone grabbing the wrist..this is a very clear and well executed video... I have never known someone to grab the wrist ...but as I say excellent and clear thanks you

Thanks for taking time to watch it and comment. We teach wrist grabs as they are a natural response for people seeking control. When person is not yet decided to hit you but looking for control is grabbing hands if they are placed in front of them. Thank you for your question I'll do the clip maybe next week explaining in more detail this topic. Thanks again!

Not sure where I fall on these particular applications for this kata, but keep in mind that naha styles are largely close range styles. Wrist grabs are a natural way to try to stop punches from the clinch. You might end up grabbing a wrist when attempting to control an arm by the elbow, etc. I doubt that anyone would end up grabbing both unless they wanted to eat a headbutt... but yeah...

Pozdrawiam
