Time to say goodbye to the Suzuki SV 650 - But what next?

- A year seems to have flown by but it is a year since i bought the Suzuki SV 650. I have had my ups and downs with it and managed to get over the confidence hump in the middle. The highs have been very high and the lows very low. I now feel the time is right to part company with the SV and taste pastures new. But what will it be?

Well I thought I'd clicked on the 2 Wheeled Willies channel there..... "Love this bike, It's perfect..... Oh I'm selling it" 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 thanks Richie 😁
keeping us in suspenders , naughty !
😂😂😂 thanks MrEd 😁
Should have added some Eastenders DOOF DOOF's at the end with that cliffhanger.
😂😂😂 brilliant 😂😂 thanks Jeff 😁
That was a naughty cliffhanger! 😂
Goodbye faithful steed SV 650. ❤️
Thanks PW 😁 how’s the Tenera 😁
@@TAYM I’ve only ridden it home at this point. I didn’t want to get it on the highway for 800 miles right off the bat, before the break-in is done, since I had to travel for Mother’s Day weekend.
My first impression… It is definitely in the dual-sport camp when it comes to handling. The 890 adventure S is more of a sport-touring bike.
My goal is to get down to two, maybe three bikes.
I have to take the Harley in for a fueling issue and take a cat to the vet, injured front paw on a 19 year old cat.
I’ll get on it a bit tomorrow and hopefully more there-after.
@@pinkiewerewolf yes, the running in isn’t just about getting the miles in is it, it’s about how the miles are done, getting hot and cold and fast and slow etc etc 😁
You are in serious trouble my wife was not to pleased with the cliffhanger ending 😮
😂😂😂😂 thanks John 😂😂😂
Nice little GT250 joining the channel 🤣Cheers TAYM👍. Sorry to see it go though
That would be marvellous 😁😂😂 thanks Simon 😁
That’s done it, no sleep until the reveal now.
😂😂😂 thanks PB 😁
Bloody hell l thought that car just before Orwells was going to pull out on you. You are very naughty will we find out on Mondays mutter the new addition to your stable ? 😂👍
You and me both 🙄😂😂😂 thanks MP 😁
Oh, you little tease, Taym. Whatever have you got? Lots of luck and happiness on your new steed. Looking forward to see what's next to fulfill your adventures 😀
😂😂😂thanks Steve 😁
Nice sunny vdeo for a sad goodbye although I suspect there were mixed emotions or you'd be keeping it. Best anti-stall I have ever experienced, all bike should have that. Superb engine with enough power and just about enough vibes to show it's got an engine down there. Very good fuel economy. The seat ! Your "walk around" shots amply show the slope from back to front that made it so uncomfortable for me as I was always sliding forward and crushing certain parts against the tank. Flattish seats on the Triumph Bonneville and the V7 Moto Guzzi suit me. I hate the modern seat profiles that hoik the pillion seat 90mm higher at the rear. When they say it's seat height is 810mm and then I find the pillion seat is 900 - well my old legs cannot get on those. I'm looking forward to seeing the replacement bike: something a little bigger with a flatter seat? Best regards.
Exactly 😁 thanks B 😁😉
Sad day! Hope you don't regret your decision.😬😬😬
Thanks Bill 😁 me too 😁
It's always a sad ride when you know she's going 😢😢
Goodbye old friend, time for a new experience in this short life!!👍😎❤️
Thanks TBG 😁 absolutely 😁
Hey up TAYM, a real teaser this one .....😊
😂😂😂 thanks H 😁
Hi TAYM, The SV is a great MC with an excellent engine, I also PXD mine after 16 months from new with only 1,400 miles on the clock. The SV is classed as a street bike and the riding leg position is not ideal for longer trips, hence my PX for a 2024 Honda NC750X manual.
Thanks Stephen 😁 NC, very nice and if we had a decent Honda dealer round here that may well have been my replacement too 😁
So two things, I took a sharp intake of breath just before the end when I thought that white car or silver on looking again nearly pulled out on you ! Had that happen to me on Wednesday, we just sat looking at each other, I never said a word, he realised then he had messed up and sheepishly re started and then I carried on my merry way😊 As for you you tease how about a shaft drive V7 Guzzi ? Whatever it is enjoy 😊
Yes, I edited out my mutter at that point 😕 but it seemed to happen a lot on the SV 🤔 thanks Pete😁
Ahhhh you tease🤣🤣🤣🤣 Looking forward to the new baby!
😂😂😂😂 thanks Lilian 😁
yeah, you are a tease, looking foward to see whats next.
Thanks Kevin 😁
Can't wait to see the new addition to the family. I've chewed all my fingernails in anticipation 😂
😂😂😂 thanks BH😁
Clever use of A.I.Taym making the front of the BMW dealership look like Orwell's.😂
Look forward to you introducing us to the new GS you've always really wanted.😂
😂😂😂😂 it didn’t take me long to get from Motorad to Orwell’s 😁 but they weren’t too pleased to have a bmw outside 😁😂😂 thanks Ed 😁
Well this came as a surprise but not a shock after the accident .
Spot on .. seat is very thin and the you can feel the budget nature of the suspension , especially at the front . Otherwise it's all the bike anyone would ever really need and must be in the top 3 best bikes of the past 30 years ( Street Triple would also be in there)
Very naughty teasing us like that at the end !! GSX 8S or R would be obvious guess.😊
Thanks David 😁
Looking at the corner of that mirror, I’m going to guess the gsx8s or r. Can’t wait to see what it is!
Thanks K 😁 good attempt 😁😂😂
Without watching the full video, I will not guess what will be next.. I have my favorites, you have yours TAYM .. I know you are very big on the Gold Star .. And so many others too 😄 .. You like everything from the HD Ultra, to a Vespa scooters...
p.s. Damn you TAYM /at the end/
Thanks Stefan 😁
Whatever your choice we will all enjoy the new ride along with you. We don't subscribe for the bike type, but for the shared experience and good company..... Unless you got the 2024 M1000RR.😉
😂😂😂 thanks Barry 😁
I once has a vstrom 650. 2006 year & I have to admit that twin motor was an absolute gem, very punchy with just enough torque for British roads. I did loads of tours on it fully loaded up and the economy was also very good with 200mile tank range. Sadly it’s taken Suzuki a wee bit too long to replace the 650 motor to the 800 parallel twin, but it’s finally happened so I’m guessing you’ve got one of the New Vstrom 800’s
Very good guess JD 😁 maybe 😁😂😂
Well it sounded like you should keep it , you must be o ver the moon with whatever it is your buying next .Thanks TAYM
Absolutely I am 😁 thanks GCK 😁
Teasing us I see. Looking forward to seeing the new machine and how you're gonna describe that lovley new bike smell 👍🏼
😂😂😂 thanks TWR 😁
Morning Mr TAYM. Sad day, but happy day too. That bloody silver car 🤬. I am guessing the new one is a V-Strom 🤔 Probably wrong though 😂
Thanks Ian 😁
That car in front of you on the first section of the video , likes to ride in the other lane a lot. Wow! Hope that was not your ride home. I am also confused with the dotted white line in the middle, it's even dotted to pass in turns and there is no line on the side of the road to tell me if this is a two lane road in one direction or one lane in each direction. Anyways, glad you are happy with letting the baby Ducati go. 😊
Thanks LoY 😁
Both you and English Biker Dan have recently sold your SV650’s which were bought new and owned for similar lengths of time. I think you have been more upfront regarding the shortcomings of the bike. I have owned one for nearly three years and while I am still enjoying the bike at the moment, am starting to wonder if my riding experience would be improved by having a bike with better suspension. Planning to test ride the Triumph Street Triple R and 24 model MT09 to compare. The SV650 was a great bike 0:16 to come back to biking after a long lay off, but I am starting to find it’s limits.
Thanks Frank 😁 absolutely love the Street triples 😁 what about the cafe Yamaha 😁 wonderful 😁
Awwww TAYM left hanging in my very ill state how could you !!!😉and here I am without a bike and ill to boot salt and wounds come to mind surely not another Triumph or is it ? hmmm 🤔
😂😂😂😂 or is it indeed 😂😂😂😂 thanks crumb 😁 hope you are feeling better by Wednesday or should we call it triumph day🤔😁😂😂
Taym, the "Temptress"! Enjoy mate and don't keep us waiting too long. Have a great weekend. 👍
😂😂😂 thanks Robert 😁
You're such a tease TAYM! 😀Always mixed emotions when a much loved bike has to go, that one of the great things about making videos is the virtual record of the joy, and on occasion disappointment or angst they brought us. Rarely the latter fortunately. Can't wait to see what is replacing the SV and the unfolding adventures to come! 😃👍
Thanks MM 😁
That’s very iteresting so what bike could you be having , it’s difficult TAYM , a Norton , not sure you’ve got me I don’t have a clue but I’m excited for you 😊😊
😂😂😂 thanks MsD 😁
A thickening plot...thanks TAYM.
😂😂😂 thanks DT 😁
Such a tease Taym😂. Happy New bike day whatever it is 👍
Thanks Derek 😁
That's one helluva cliffhanger 😱
Forget, 'Will flash Gordon get out of that rocket ship in time'
What bike will TAYM come home on!!!🤔
😂😂😂 thanks Loki 😁
Ive got a pretty good idea :) Bullet 350....the ultimate therapist....I took mine up to West Head lookout yesterday, dodged the rain, was magic, great sailing up there too, you'd love it
That would be nice 😁😂😂 thanks Tom 😁
Tam I’ve got a SV650 that I use for commuting and it’s great, it’s my third. To be honest they’ve been brilliant. I’m thinking about one of those new CB650 with the clever clutch thingy, but only because I’m bored of buying SV’s😂
Thanks Stuart 😁 yes, exceptional and unbreakable bike 😁 sometime we just need a change 😁
Exciting!! Looking forward to seeing the replacement!
Thanks Willie 😁
That's sad but exciting. I was the same with the TRK. Well, I wonder 🤔 GSX 8R ??
I wonder🤔😂😂😂 thanks Ian 😁
How could you leave us like that Taym, What a shame, I would get a thicker seat !,
Hope you go for a Guzzi V85tt ?, That would be my choice,
Can't see me getting rid of my Vincent Twin, Had it for 59 years !, Good Luck, Bill.
😂😂 thanks Bill 😁 a v85 would be nice 😁
Lovely bike the SV and I would like one if I had the room. Funny you saying about how it looks like a baby Ducati. I am sure it would give the Monster a run for it's money. Yes, you are a tease Taym making us wait for the unveiling of the new bike. 😊👍🏍
😂😂😂 thanks JI 😁
Well , Looking at the "ears" , Its not a Giraffe....😂
Good guess 😂😂😂 thanks LB 😁
That's really cool and great video bro
Thanks RK 😁
Now that ending was just a little unfair I thought………….. . Leaving us all in suspenders like that 😂
😂😂😂 sorry about that 😂😂 thanks PR 😁
Now you have sold it I can be truthful about my views on sv650.s .
Great bikes 😂
😂😂😂 thanks Charlie 😁
I, probably among others, would like to hear about how you go about insuring 5 bikes as I have found insuring 2 bikes costs enough. I have heard of multi bike policies but would need to synchronise both insurance dates. Also wether the rear ending affected your policy. I await with bated breath as to what you will have next.
Thanks Michael 😁 it gets cheaper 😁 with my car as well on what they call a six wheel policy 😁
The new machine could be one of a number you have been impressed with recently. 🤔 Orwell’s a Suzuki dealer? So a wild guess at a v strom.
Thanks Martin 😁
You've ridden a lot of neat bikes past few months so it's difficult to guess what's next...but my money is on a Suzuki V Strom 800!
Thanks Scott 😁 I have indeed 😁 maybe🤔
Gorgeous bike the SV650. Superb engine, the likes of which we're unlikely to see again as manufacturers switch their R&D budgets to the bleak electric future 😢.
What next TAYM 🤔. Something a little more classic maybe - or has Mrs TAYM agreed to a Rocket 3 GT 😈
Very true 😁 thanks PGB 😁 Electric🤔😂😂😂
Ah TAYM, one of the best bikes ever made. Suffering from sun stroke maybe 😂
😂😂 thanks Paul 😁
Mine had to go after a year, too. Mine was lost during the disagreement with a minivan about occupying the same area at the same time. *sigh*
😂😂😂 brilliant description 😂😂 love it 😁 thanks S 😁
I think 🤔 it's a model you've already owned and missed alot over the years,so I'm also guessing at a vstrom, but the older 650 model 😁
😁 good guess 😁 thanks B😁
Farewell Suzuki SV650 it has been a brilliant bike for you but I am excited to see the replacement. As it's Orwell's I'm guessing maybe Suzuki gsx8s or maybe z650rs lol
Thanks Mike 😁 As Scooby would say, could be 😁😂😂
Must be something in the air, I sold "Vic" the sportster yesterday. Will still have him for the DGR next Sunday then he is off to a new home. I'll let you guess what I've replaced him with, you're not the only tease lurking about 🤪
😂😂😂 very interesting 🤔 Mrs TAYM is very pleased with her visor 😁 she said to say a massive thank you 😁 thanks Bill 😁
Sad to hear your parting ways with the SV TAYM, as you know I have an early 99 Curvy. I do wish people would stop calling SV's a good learner bike or a good girls bike, in my humble opinion they are a bloody good budget all rounder without unnecessary gadgetry to go wrong. I can't think of another bike described as a learners bike that has its own race series ?
Yep, weird isn’t it 😂😂 thanks Gerry 😁
"Hell Fire" ! 😅.
😂😂😂😂 thanks D 😁
👍 but you didn't stop off at Swiss Farm butchers and get some marvellous sausages ..
I know, I save that for on the way home in this weather 😁😂😂😂 thanks James 😁
I am so surprised .The SV650 is one of the best bikes ever made! Have you been watching too much Solo Moto UK?🤣🤣😂😂 I would have guessed another middleweight and that you were buying a Trident next, but you are not at the right dealer for that. Is it a Kawasaki Z650???
😂😂😂 thanks GBD 😁
What will it be?
I recon a v strom 800RE,what a cliff hanger.
Thanks Barry 😁 could be 😁😂😂
Hahaa! Look at this! 👀 then pokes us in the eye ! 😅😅
😂😂😂😂 thanks Mel 😁
My guess is BSA or gsx8s. Wouldn’t be surprised if not a 350 RE but hope not. My daughter had a gladius with this engine bought with A2 and normal ecu from a fellow female rider. I rode it with both ecus and as an A2 was a marvellous bike and not slow in the slightest. Full power is fast enough for anyone’s ability. When you see them racing the sv class you will know what I mean. That v twin engine is reliable and super torque or revs -both. Your evaluation is bang on😊
Thanks Volt 😁 exceptional bikes for sure 😁
👍👍🏍
Thanks Paul 😁
Prob the new Himi ?
That’s a good idea 😁 thanks JH 😁
I know you are at a Suzuki dealer...BUT I am putting my money on your new bike being a Triumph Speed Triple RR! That would up your naughtiness factor by 10!!
I like your thinking 😁😂😂 thanks Mark 😁
RE Bobber is my guess
Thanks Jo 😁
Its a shame Taym, but you’ve been quite plain in the main about your claim, so its time to aim for a new motor train, yes, I know my rhyme is lame 😂😂😂! Can’t wait to see your new frame…. 🙃
😂😂😂😂 very good 😂😂 thanks TT 😁
Surely it’s either a KTM or a Rocket 😉
Two good choices 😁 thanks BigN😁
Oh you absolute tease, making us wait to see what's replacing the SV650 😮😯😎🤔 I'm guessing although we're coming into summer, that it may be the all elusive winter bike you've been looking for for over a year now. You've given us a clue by trading at Orwell's, so we know it's not a triumph but is it a Suzuki or a KTM both have winter capable bikes? You tried both and liked both but then you also like just about every bike you try? I'll be back when I've had a look into my crystal ball 😏🔮😐
😂😂😂 they also sell Kawasaki and are a short ride from Davy Brothers who sell BSA and Royal Enfield 🤔 also in spitting distance of Suffolk Triumph 😁 😂😂😂 thanks GW 😁
@@TAYM So you rode from another dealers to Orwell's where you showed us you sat on the new bike, that was clever 🤨😉😂
@@greywolf9292 just saying I could have done 😁😂😂😂
TAYM TAYM TAYM if you don’t get a Moto Guzzi V7 I’ll scream and scream and scream until I’m sick 😂😂 with that said I think you’ll be getting a Suzuki in blue 🤔 carry on that man Caio for now tat ta 👍🏻
😂😂😂😂 thanks HN 😁
400 trumpet i reckon.
Thanks Trevor 😁
You can't leave us hanging like that, it's cruelty.
I'm going to report you to.....er........ Well I'll find someone.
👍
😂😂😂 thanks Shottos 😁
V storm 800 ?
Good guess 😂😂 thanks TB 😁
400X or BSA for you sir 👍
They would suit me very well indeed 😁 thanks SYD 😁
I smell the new Triumph Scram 400 working it’s way into the TAYM garage. Let me get this straight, your insurance companies in England limit your annual mileage? Crazy
😂😂😂 thanks CF 😁 you have to tell them how many at the quote point 😁 you can have more but your premium goes up 😁
so the R.E., Triumph and whatever else you have are better than this one, then. I've only ever owned one bike at a time because I only ride on streets and whatever bike I had served that purpose. p.s.: funny, you don't sound 6'2".
😂😂😂 thanks Iggy 😁 let’s just say less cursed 😁
Triumph 400X 🤔
Thanks AR 😁 would be perfect 😁
😢😢😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂 thanks BM 😁
1😂
Sort of late butttt..it was my time to cook, the chooks got out,the sheep needed shearing, fire wood needed to be cut,I put my phone, by mistake,in the oven with the lamb shanks, I was having a nanna nap...have I missed any excuses RR.😊😊
Forgot about headphones 🎧 being plugged in.
@@ruahinesrider ...where r those bloody headphones haha.
😂😂😂😂
