Genuinely think this is how FM should play going forward. These videos have honestly made me want to play FM again after a few years off. It’s become stale but this really freshens it up and makes you feel as though you are using some sort of skill/observations to make your decisions. Really impressed!
This is so awesome, and honestly given the emphasis on data that the FM developers gave my introducing the data hub, I am disappointed just how limited data and comparison between players actually is out of the box. Thanks for the vid mate
Just started one with charlton. Fighting the money swilling buggers in birmingham and wrexham by using a golden academy and recruitment to my advantage
Thank you very much, Clayts. I'm loving the videos on Moneyball. I watched the 90 minute one yesterday and was inspired to start a new save trying to do what you're doing. I was coaching Oxford before that and doing so badly with scouting plus getting hammered by the top premier league clubs. I'm now going to start a save at Nurnberg or maybe AZ under the name of Billy Bienemann. Apparantly Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt in the movie "Money Ball", has a minority interest in Barnsley and AZ if wikipedia is still accurate on that. I wonder was that says about Troy Parrot who is playing for AZ now, aye? Anyway, great videos and thank you again. My only question was about the game setup though. Do you need to have a database of 400.000 players or is it enough just to run the major nations and if so do they need to be run as playable or viewable?
Hi Clayts, I loved your series and think that this is an amazing way of playing the game would love to see more with this skin !! I tried using this myself but find that my game is running unbelievably slow even though I have a powerhouse of a computer 😂 Any thoughts ? Might have to do with the detail level
Yes just the video I needed! Are you finding that you just sign players from top 5 leagues with just them loaded? Or do other players from other leagues still come up, just with less detailed data?
when doing excel analysis is it possible to have the KPI normalized based on team possession? if you are comparing say 'successful pass / 90' of players in different teams, player from team with higher ball posession will be ranked higher
Nah, I still search by value, stats, etc (just not attributes) but if you want to rely purely on scouts that’s an extra layer of realism to apply for sure
I feel like the stats are pretty unclear. For once, they also depend on tactics. If a player plays in a counter / park the bus tactic he will probably attempt less pressures than a player in a gegenpress tactic. That doesn't mean that the player is bad at applying pressure, he just won't do it as much. Also, are dribbles the attempts or the successful dribbles? Are crosses and corners being taken into account in pass completion and have defended corners and crosses an impact on possessions lost? Maybe I'm overthinking it, but there is quite some potential to misread these statistics, which is why I've never really sticked to the idea of a moneyball save.
I have similar thoughts. I think "moneyball" saves are great from more of a roleplaying perspective, but I'm not sure if the concept is so applicable in a video game based on numerical calculations in a match engine.
Oh 1 million per cent. It’s been a bit of a battle justifying/ contemplating choices etc with that in mind. But I think you can loosely have a lot of fun just applying a general premise of moneyball to most decisions and that’s what I’ve tried to do
i mate, I am starting a new save and want to ask you when to add in the scouting details and put the top divisions for scouting players, because I will start in the Serie C, should I put lower leagues instead of the top divisions? Thanks
Yes, I did that with my save, because it's not likely to see a player from prem to go serie C. So I looked at lower leagues when I am doing it, but it depends on computer speed obviously
tried moneyball but stopped it midway because literally all the good players i was bringing had 1 thing in common, high pace acceleration so no point doing all that, just get fast players
My sheet on excel is blacking out some stats of the players, even though theyre clearly shown on the html that im copying and pasting . I just see a blacked out cell instead of the stat for some players . Anyone know why ?
The views and filters don't seem to work on FM for me. They don't show up in the "Import view/filter" on my files? I have a Mac, does anyone know why this may be?
Hi, love the content and the concept behind this video. I’ve given it a go myself and I’ve noticed that the excel spreadsheet has some data wrong. I keep my own players in the search and implement them into excel. I have KWP as a full back and the excel spreadsheet has his ‘tackle completion’ at 28% but if I go on to the game I can his actual figure is 78% .. the 28% I can see on the game for him is actually his ‘shots on target’ is there any way you can see if the creator can fix this error as I feel it’s a great tool but it’s clearly going to miss out on the correct players if the data doesn’t match up between the game and the excel sheet
@ In my 3rd season with money ball now and I’ve made so much profit with players. I find that in real life a club would look at the data and also look at what value there is in the market, for instance I signed Pedro Neto for £2.6m and krephen Thurman for £18m, absolute bargains that I know I will make so much profit on, but because they had been bombed from their perspective teams they weren’t showing in the data.
I would probably look at both, and just think about the players you’re comparing them too. Forwards you’re comparing to the best goal scorers and attacking mids, more creative assist players. Also depends what role you want him to fulfil in your team.
For wingers, I find comparing them to other attacking midfielders more accurate and helpful. They referred to as attacking midfielder left/right in-game after all. The ‘forwards’ button seems to be apply more to actual strikers as it’s heavily weighted by the non-penalty XG, goals, and shots.
@@Daanikweetgeennaam I found that if you use the ‘profile filter’ it’s much easier to find what you want. So you can filter for top 90% as a ‘ball destroyer’ or ‘direct’ or ‘finisher’ . much easier in my opinion

That is to say, your Brentford save looked incredible and wanted to try it myself. Thank you fella
That sounds like a good save. Used to be in Premier league and try get them back. Good academy/ catchment area (although a busy region) 😂.
KRO 😂
Enjoying this series a lot. It’s inspired me to use the skin and start a save with 1860 Munich with the aim to try and topple Bayern using money ball.
thank you for this!! I'm very intested in doing a moneyball save since your last video :)
Thank you so much for this, love the concept of moneyball but have had no idea how to use the filters to find the data. Will help a lot 🔥
Excellent content as usual. Thank You.

Can only imagine its detail level or leagues loaded, I didn’t experience any performances issues because of the skin and that’s on my potato pc 😅
Nice i start a save today with these settings and team
That video just changed my entire life
Thanks for this mate
Nothing like putting those excel skills I learned on the job to play a game :))))
Do you have any alternative for those who doesn't have the app excel installed? which is not free on pc.
Thank you Clayts
You’re welcome Klaus
Hi clayts what is a recommendation for the number of leagues and nations loaded for a save like this
Thank you
Really enjoying this, and planning on doing one myself. What face pack and transfer update pack do you use? Struggling to get one that works…
Yes just the video I needed! Are you finding that you just sign players from top 5 leagues with just them loaded? Or do other players from other leagues still come up, just with less detailed data?
Still show up, with less or no data. And you can still use your scouts there and use a bit of discretion.
@@Clayts awesome, thanks dude! Rarely watch an hour and half video from start to finish but couldn't not watch that first episode. Roll on EP 2!
Wooh!

Now I’m interested
This looks interesting! Thought I would try it, where can I get the view filter from? That's the last thing I'm missing!
Should all be on the SI forum link / download!
Thanks Clayts - do all the players come from scouting only? is player search turned off?

For some reason i cant use the filter tap. If i want to i gotta give a password cause its proteced or something
Moneyball is identifying talent that is undervalued that can win you games. Which is sort of what you said
One of the points of this is that many of the players you want aren't getting any playing time, so may not show up in Clayts' system
@@williamcross210 I found this as well, so you still need to do some manual searching for bargains
Is it possible to do without a skin?
Also how do you do it at the start of the season, when there’s no data? 😂
Hi im French I like your videos and I have One question, should I put my game in english or not ? Thanks
I wonder if you could make this type of save work with a Championship side...

does it matter which version of excel you use?
Where would we find the FMSS player search view? I’m following your save button with Crystal Palace
tried moneyball but stopped it midway because literally all the good players i was bringing had 1 thing in common, high pace acceleration so no point doing all that, just get fast players
When doing a moneyball save will i have to keep going on and off the game to get data from spread sheets
Only way moneyball work is you have to sim 1st year.
Would this work on fm touch?

Are you sure this isn’t something to do with you pasting the data into the wrong columns somewhere? I’m checking now and the data matches up ok
Fixed this, it’s down to the two paste options on excel 👍🏼
Makes sense!

Do you need the Excel app or does it also work on the free version on the Chrome browser?
I’m not actually sure, sorry.
Hey, when I go to import the filters that I've downloaded it's not showing? It's in the folder I just can't see them.. anyone else?
i can only be able to view the percentile and raw data page
🎉🎉
Anyone have any idea why my money all save is really slow, like the loading times
*moneyball
how would I set this up if I wanted to do it on my current save with Farsley in league 2?
there's no point without a transfer budget tbh, championship and up i could see it being viable tho
My overview page is blank, anyone know what I’m doing wrong?
For some resson it wont let me paste the players in excel
Never mind it working now
same, idk why
👌
With a player like Antony. Do i need to click the 'forwards' button or the 'attacking midfielders' button?

When importing it into the spread sheet, very weird numbers come up like the average rating for example is 337648 or smtg like that, anybody help me?
try to format cells
