This is the video that made me want to switch to classical guitar. 4 years later, I'm studying chamber music and classical guitar at university. Thank you, Marcin! For the gift you've given me!
I have not heard these pieces played better. Great instrument, great audio, and an artist that plays with precision and flourish. Outstanding still after three years.
@@Utubesuxmycock I beg to differ. The Bach lute suites by John Williams are the absolute top, the 'be-all and end-all here, upon this bank and shoal of time' (to quote Hamlet), unsurpassed and unsurpassable. Listen to John Williams' Presto (BWV 996) played at breakneck speed, and admire how each of the voices comes out crystal clear. John Williams = Glenn Gould on the guitar.
The ornamentation with trills and vibrato... the tempo of the Allemand, the sheer technical mastery... all of it a work of art..... would love to hear his interpretation of chaconne!
Reaches at the highest point that classical guitar and Bach can be... Such a sensational performance. It’s truely amazing that I live at the same era with him.
Un chitarrista assolutamente fuori dal comune... per interpretazione e bellezza del suono. E la tecnica che possiede gli consente la massima libertà interpretativa. Veramente un Grande... Marcin Dylla!!
What a maestro of his instrument! One of the best performances I ever heard of a Bach liute suite. I love the technique and the mordents, ardents and thrillers. Thank you Marcin for sharing . Bravo !!
This interpretation is breathtaking, musically, rhythmically and with such beautiful ornamentation. Dear Marcin Dylla, I just went to Vincenti to give my guitar for repair and realized that you were in Geneva in October. What an incredible miss ! I hope I get soon the opportunity to listen to you live. All the for you in these crazy times !
The Bouree is really good. But I could see some people complaining about it having to much ornmaentation(or not liking it because it's not hyper straight ornamentation). But the Prelude and Gigue destroy everyone else he made David Russel look average which I don't think I've seen any other guitarist do O_O
Marcyn Dilla Is the best of all contemporary interpreter. I cannot find any of this delightful interpretations in any other interpreter. Chapeua Marcyn!
Superlative playing on all levels. Knowing that I'd never be able to make it sound as good as him in a million years, I still went and looked up the price of his guitar. Whelp, see ya when I win the lotto, Perry Guitars!
MUITA BOA INTERPRETAÇÃO , TODA A SUITE MUITO BEM TOCADA ! A GIGA É CONSIDERADA UMA DAS PEÇAS DE MAIOR DIFICULDADE DE EXECUÇÃO DAS QUE O MESTRE BACH ESCREVEU PARA ALAÚDE . PARABÉNS VOCÊ TOCOU MUITO BEM.
Thank you Marchin. You are a good musician and I enjoyed your performance. Just a personal note. In my humble opinion, as a lover of music, and Bach in particular, I prefer it when what Bach wrote is respected to the note. When he wanted to lavish up his music, he did just that within the score itself. Thank you again!
Wow! Thank you for this transcendent performance! This suite made me fall in love with the guitar. The John Williams version from 1975 has been the touchstone for me since I was a boy. I have always said his 4 lute suites album would be my album of choice if I was stuck on a deserted island. I now have a different opinion. Sublime sir
Have you checked out the David Russell one? After comparing this, John Williams, Evangelina Mascardi (Lute) i have to say i find David Russell the closest to Williams if not actually better
I have been listening to him for more then 10 years still very excellent and polish classical guitar player! That Daryl Perry guitar is fantastic! Any guitar under Marcin sound good.
The fact you added ornaments (especially in the bouree) gives me hope, because a lot of boomer players criticise the ornamentation process on Bach's music... I think instead it is something legitimate and seeing you making so, makes me really happy. You are a nice example of the new-concept musician who is intelligently informed and who can improvise whit the nicest taste, besides having a perfect technique!
Absolutely! This improvised ornamentation was truly present during the time and it is lovely to be able to experience what the music of the time was like (even on an instrument that wasn’t around then). Unforgettable performance
Superlative interpretation with superb voice control. I feel sorry for the 48 thumbs-downers - they probably thought they were meant to be listening to Abba.
About 40+ years ago, I had a Classical Guitar Teacher that spent his summers (teaching) in Weston, CT. He was good enough to teach John WQilliam, myself and many others. As far as I'm concerned, he was the best for the last hundred years or so. Anybody want to take a guess who that was (initials AS). Most of us called him "El Maestro", and he definitely was.
@SB Tofu I guess you have never really listened to Segovia then. Most all people that love classical guitar would agree with me. David said "best guitar playing I've ever heard". Guess he, like you never "REALLY" listened to Andres, eh ?
@SB Tofu Hey SB Tofu; I not only play guitar; I was one of Segovia's students back in the sixties for two summers. BTW I play both classical and jazz, but also the same on a 5X8 pedal steel (tuned to C6), ,iust; not C&W). In addition to that, I was teaching pop and classical (guitar) in the 60's, 70's and 80'sand had about 45 students at the time; both 4-year olds to senior citizens (like I am now, LoL).
@SB Tofu To "embellish" your post above.; I studied with Segovia for two summers when he was teaching at his summer home in Weston, CT. A little more of my history; I also taught Pop and Classical for almost 20 years during the 60' 70's and early 80's, with an average of about 45 students (while holding down a day job as a Semiconductor Engineer. BTW, I also (in addition to jazz and classical) play azz and classical on an 5X8 pedal steel, but NOT C&W. I know you like all of Marcin's embellishments, but because Bach is my FAVORITE Renaissance composer, I much prefer to hear what he actual wrote, which is why I prefer the Lute tablelure

Mr. Lieske, you’re also a fantastic guitarist! I saw your Allemande BWV 1004 played on La Leona on the Siccas guitar channel and it was fantastic! Incidentally, still one of the best sounding guitars I’ve ever heard. Wishing you all the best.
Hi Marcin, I've been checking out a lot of classical players on the net recently and many come across as excellent players but somewhat cerebral. What I enjoy most when I watch you play is the emotion and passion you deliver. It makes me as the listener appreciate the music in a very different way compared to the cerebral players I mentioned earlier. Also I really like that you add your own signiture to Bach's suite particularly slowing it down in places. Other players I've watched playing the same pieces have racer through them at breakneck speed as if that's the only measure of a player....might as well stick EVH on (rest in peace Eddy). As a newcomer to classical guitar it's been a real inspiration to see how you've interpreted Bach. Thanks....will definitely be checking more out.

I definitely had to comeback to this recording... Your version of the bouree is the best I've heard.
Not for me. Too many ornaments, and not even executed that well to justify them.
@@sunnyjim1355 Agreed, not a huge fan of the ornamentation on bouree. Feels too much. Execution was good in some of the other movements though.

What a brilliant performance of this masterpiece of Johann Sebastian Bach. Very original interpretation. Perfect recording too. Great! 👏👍❤️
This is Bach and it rocks; it's a rock-block of Bach.
This is mastery. I’m very confident JSB would be delighted to see this, especially after learning of how difficult this is on modern scale guitar.
