This TH-cam channel is incredible. The pio department should be proud, I don't even live in Colorado and I feel intimately familiar with the department and members that serve in its community.
For a 1995 International, that's a good looking truck. It could use some love, though. Replace the strobe light heads with LEDs, replace the rear scene lights with LEDs, and put some new domes on the light bar, for now. That would put less load on the electrical system, which results in to reduced maintenance. Later on, come back and replace the light bar with an LED bar, and replace the head on the light tower with LED. Still, I am a bit nostalgic for the old school look! Great job on the presentation, crew!
So your Rehab is what we call a Utility Truck at our Department. The Rehab at ours carries portable like tents and A/C unit as well as is like a FOOD Truck more or less. Our Utility also have water and such cold like your rehab. Our Utility can fill up to 8 bottles at a time and is self contained system. Nice Truck and great to see the younger generation get involved
That was very well done by the teens. I am sure they are very helpful as they all seem to be very knowledgeable. This is a great idea involving the public, and may encourage them to want to be firefighters themselves one day. That always seems to be a problem with any S&R teams is the availability of personnel, and this seems like an excellent way to provide more hands to assist in the load. Great video coverage too.
Excellent job, and you guys and girls who are just coming into the fire service are so very very needed on fire scenes. Would love to see rehab 12 get updated into a heavy rescue.. excellent video once again by SMFR
I think it's a really cool idea to combine the voluntary SAR crew with a voluntary supplemental fire fighting crew. The semi-regular calls for big fires provide the needed "live fire" training, team building and (last but not least in a voluntary crew) fun for the team, which would be much rarer if they would "just" do SAR work - while simultaneoulsy you have a big benefit for your career departement as well, because a few volunteers that are keen on doing the "dirty" work are a huge help for the men at work. This combination saves the city thousands in wages for additional staff while it also provides a better experience for the volunteers. Win-Win. Really clever.
When I was in high school I was a police explorer. These kids are the fire equivalent of us. Glad to see programs like this still exist. I look back fondly on my explorer days. Got to do a lot of interesting things. Police training, ride alongs, search and rescue, evidence searches, harbor patrol, traffic control, security at fairs and school events. Was a great time. Sadly programs like that are disappearing. I hope South Metro does everything they can to hold onto programs like that.
Wow, I wish we’d had something like that in the U.K. when I was young. Well done to all the young volunteers who help on this. You should be very proud of yourselves. If you are all as knowledgeable and keen as these 3 you will all go far in life and be positive forces. Great work. How many responses do you have per year and how many volunteers are there? Would be nice to see a piece about their training and envolvement on the fire ground in the future?
4:00: One of the great achievements of our times is that we managed to tame these loud and stinking diesel engines! They now run as quiet as their petrol - fed counterparts, providing maximum torque almost at idle rpm! And now "Rudolf Diesel minute" any more!
Doing so makes it more difficult to remove the bottles from the tray, we typically twist the straps to signify used/empty bottles. Doing so makes it easier to remove the bottles or check pressures on scene or after a call.
looking forward to this. I am the rehab response program team leader for the southeastern Nh hazamt district serving 14 towns .I can not begin to say how important rehab is I will be tunning in friday thank you eric
diesel is not loud or quiet based on DEF. it is more about which fuel system the engine has. newer engines in general are common rail fuel systems. the dt466 is a heui engine which are in general loud. cam ground pistons can also be loud until warm. such as in a powerstroke.
My county (Oswego County) in New York has a mobile cascade truck that’s owned by the county it’s stationed at a station a town over form me it’s pretty cool it goes on all working structure fires confined space and hazmat calls if it’s requested it’s called 38MC1
They usually respond to larger scale calls and respond like PIOs which means they respond non-emergent unless if requested by command and if they need to clear traffic
Great Truck! I know this may not be doable on this truck, but on the GW-A (Basicly a pure SCBA Truck that also has a compressor, lots of SCBA Bottles and SCBA in general) of our neighbouring department, there is a water basin were the bottles are put into whilst refilling, because they heat up and then they either don't get as full, or take far longer. But heating may not even be a problem with this system, as it isn't a real compressor...
Very nice example of how Volunteer programs can be morphed into professional firefighting agencies. So often, there is resistance on the part of professional (e.g. paid) personnel to Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT). Well done South Metro. Did I miss the "pop up" shade structures? In San Diego, CA, shade is part of Rehab cooling as well as rain cover.
It's for rehab on fire calls in the field. It's to make sure that the firefighters have new air tanks and are fit to return into the fire. We also have multiple other apparatus that is used only for SAR. But rehab 12 is used just to help aid SMFR
@@IzANerd225 ok, industry-specific term then. To rehabilitate the workers who are currently too exhausted/dehydrated/etc. to continue working safely/effectively. Makes sense.

To the members, Thank You For Your Service!! Very interesting set up on your response vehicle. Well equipped for the mission you do.

Can you do a day in the life of a brush Engineer or day in the life of a wild land firefighter?
They probably will this summer when there is some wildland fires that they respond to.
@@Mustang6971 yea probably
There wild land fire fighters are just normal fire fighters so it would be.like day in a life of a fire fighter
@@devxdiamondman9561 maybe they could do a clip on a crew while they are on a 14 day wildland deployment.
They wouldn’t be able to because a wildland firefighter is a normal firefighter that cross staffs the type 7 or 3
Nice to see, that there are volunteer emergency services like the volunteer disaster response units in germany too. Greetings from the ASB to the ARP.
When i was in ARP we had the old yellow rig before the new one. It was also before the merge with LFR
That's so cool, what cool girl. :D
you can also put the bottles in backwards to signify its empty

I wish my local department did this because I would totally join as a young guy!
Thanks to the fire department for all they do

I hope engine 21 gets a fleet Friday and some other time brush 21
Me as well i want to watch
Could we get a fleet Friday of the advanced resource medic
I believe thats a West Metro unit. There are a few good videos about it.
That is a west metro fire rescue unit

They will do one once the new ARM37 comes in
Maybe a weird question but do they drive the rig as well?
I've wanting to watch this since the station saturday on station 12
Hey I saw the mid air collision that occurred at centennial airport. Any video on that incident 👀
I’m interested in implementing this for my fire department, I was wondering if you could help give any tips on how to bring this to my state?
SMFR needs to invest in an automatic hose roller and hose caddies for the LDH for Rehab 12 to carry. Manually carrying LDH is not an easy or fun task.
Nice truck
Nice job everyone
How is this dispatched, as in do they run code to incidents? Are the students EVOC trained?
They usually respond to larger scale calls and respond like PIOs which means they respond non-emergent unless if requested by command and if they need to clear traffic
Isn't it time for a new video
south metro loves its gatorade
When is the next one I’ve been on PulsePoint all day and I’ve seen one hazardous materials response in active right now is a dive response
Have you noticed on south metro driver doors has a blue strip
It is to show their support for law enforcement
How often are there Fleet Friday fire truck tours?
With every video I watch the more it makes me wish I lived out there, if I did I would definitely maybe be doing that.
Is there a tiller truck in the feet I never seen a tiller is if there is can you make a video on it
No.
Cool!
are all the members of Arapahoe rescue patrol members H.S students
Arapahoe Rescues membership is primarily HS students, and is overseen by an adult chief staff and a board of directors.
very cool
Does rehab ever get called out to wildfires for support, and do they ever respond out of state?
No they never respond out of state. We got deployed to some brush fires but the furthest that i went was almost in Denver's fire district with rehab.
@SouthMetroFireRescue- Centennial, Colorado Eric where is rehab 12 stationed at for SouthMetroFireRescue?
station 12
Can the student’s drive the truck to the scene?
Yes. They often, if not always, drive it to the scene
Is the rescue patrol an explorer post?
No, Arapahoe Rescue is primarily a search and rescue agency. South metro has their own explorers which are a seperate entity.
Time for a new video

Does Rehab 12 Like Respond To Medical Calls While Headed Back To The Station
No it doesn't - A member of ARPs
Rehab 12 needs some new LED strobes
