One thing I don't explain well audibly in the video is that you need to input a movement key (such as WASD or LStick) during the L2 (Talisman's unfaltering prayer) cast of homeward.

This glitch is hilarious because it abuses like all of the content/mechanics that was responsible for previously or currently existing glitches. Item Yes/No Prompt, Pivoting, Toolbar, Homeward etc.
A shame this one only works with boss souls, and only one at a time at that. Nothing will ever top the DSR consumable glitch.

Step 2 was a little more confusing on my part but I figured it out! If anyone is having any trouble activating the animation you have to put in another movement input to trigger it like resetting the joystick and walking forward again while rolling (it is described in the text description of the action but not explicitly said)
How do you use your Estus flask in your toolbelt, for which you need to use an arrow key which you most likely will do with your left thumb, while also still using your thumb to hold the left stick to move your character?
@@zilchde3554while you’re in the animation lock you don’t need to hold down the movement input, it’s more lenient than you think
Omg this works so well, its kinda hard to do it but after like what felt like 30 tries and no luck i finally got it, i wish it was as easy as doing it in DSR

DS2 doesn’t need it as they have bonfire ascetics which allow you to respawn bosses in, setting the selected area to NG+ each time you use them, therefore you can grind a ton of souls anyways…
@@PullUpOnYoAssOnaMfSkateboardbuilding in this, if you use it on the giant king ascetic (the one right before entering the memory), outside the temple the giant memory is an ascetic. You can just rinse and repeat ad infinitum. I had like ng+ 99 or something last time I played. This was years ago though so it could potentially be patched by now with a move of the ascetic or something. Very fun glitch
Holy shit I actually got it to work, thanks for posting this man. Unfortunately it doesn’t really feel worth it at higher levels as it takes me like 20min of doing this to level up just once, at around level 300, but it’s definitely useful in a pinch.
Reminds me so much of the insight dupe from BB.

Thanks for sharing this info as this can be used to speed up many build creations. I have run into an issue where when I try to perform the l2 cast from the roll I keep walking unlike your weird animation state as shown. Where should I time the key input?
The timing is quite lenient any time during the roll animation should work, just make sure it's continuously held as you get out of the roll animation and start walking, I show it in the top right with the overlay. Also make sure the roll is performed directly from the pivot animation by queuing the input before its end, you can mildly spam the roll key if you're uncertain of the timing.

Looks like i need to go onto NG+ and get a boss soul to try this out.
This works with no estus too, right? Like equipping Ashen Estus with no uses left.
There used to be a glitch where if you consumed a soul by falling off a ledge that gives you fall damage and by timing it right and then doing something else, you would consume the soul (no Boss Souls, just the regular ones) and you wouldn’t waste it.
Does that glitch still exist?
I wonder what else you can this glitch for, keep us updated if you find anything cool.
Okay I don't know what happened and how I did it but I were at a point where my champ just did the casting of homeward without casting homeward, just had the animation. Then I said "come on, one last try before going to work" and IT WORKED!
I did step one
I just did a short run and the pivot, hit O until the roll came, pressed L2 plus movement up and right away Start to get to my toolbelt, and hit the flask. It did the animation, my soul still there (I've lost two update: three souls so far in the process) and I got the souls of the soul. Practice is everything, and I didn't need some crazy grip. All while just holding the controller normally.
Edit: but it's very hard and it works in like 1 of 20 tries. By the time it works and I get some souls I could have farmed it way faster and more safe than using this. Anyways, really nice glitch. Thanks @SleepMoover and elo for finding and sharing!
I tried many times but its incredibly glitchy, at a point where i can't swithc to other than honeward spell, and if i mistakenly press shrine bonfire it will consume the soul😅
glitch works but my saving boss soul is all gone when I trial and error T__T
This is one of the glitches that seem really hard in the beginning but once you get it once you never fail it again

question though, after the roll, do i need to keep the left analog stick down? im having difficulty keeping it down while switching dpad down to select the estus, this consumes the boss soul, so i had to download my save data from cloud to practice again
@@lpc93 Yeah you do, I dont explain it really well in the video but yes. On PS controllers I usually dpad with my index finger and use my thumb for stick
@@SleepMoover thank you, i'm able to do it more consistently now, here's my experience: the key is really to hold both L2 and stick down althroughout then hit the start menu (all this during the roll animation), indicator is that breakdance animation, by then it has only 2 outcomes, 1) rest at shrine option comes up (cancel everything and retry)
or 2) start menu comes up (by this point, the L2 and left stick can be released, but quickly press down dpad and use estus, or else the boss soul will be consumed)

you can do it directly off the pivot animation without needing the roll which i found cool

What do i need to do when the select destination menu appears? I can't open up my toolbelt to use the estus when that menu appears
You should be opening the toolbar menu before the destination menu has a chance to pop up, that way it'll never appear

Does it have to be homeward speel or any spell?
do i need to equip the estus flask after casting the first spell ? u seem to be saying that but didnt do it in the first showcase

How do you guys even find out how to do these things? Along with the skip glitch in Elden Ring, its all very impressive
Scientific method, or using parts of already known glitches and mixing them up (pivot animation, yes/no menus, poise cast)
New problem with this might just be me, when I press start and select the estus flask, it instead locks me out and just consumes the boss soul when I don’t even press X in step 2. It worked for me once but after that I’m pretty sure the game stayed glitched as the homeward spell would play when I was using a different spell
It's important to reset from step 1 after each try, I also mention at 1:18 a common sign that the boss soul is about to get used.
As you mentioned the game might stay glitched which is why I recommend these two things, going through a loading screen would be the best way to ensure everything is back to normal but also very slow.
ELO's channel showcases a few other ways of both chaining and performing different variations but the version shown here is by far the safest option to not accidentally use the soul.
How do you select the Estus while still holding the stick for movement? For both you need your left thumb. How is this possible?

Does this work if your build doesn’t meet the requirements for the homeward spell?
No, but there are other versions that work with a bow that you can find on Elo's channel. Or you can use priestess ring to buff your faith.

When i do it, i hit estus but then nothing happens

Okay reskilled and tried. How the fuck am I supposed to use a movement key (left stick, thumb used) wile pressing L1 (Playstation, L1 is for using spells) while using arrow key to select the Eskus (for which you need your thumb). How is your setup? Seems not doable at all until you have a bizarre unhuman grip or using a keyboard
Use your index finger for dpad and thumb for stick? And no you should be pressing L2 not L1.

Also using the index finger is a pretty badass setup, damn I'm an immobile retard XD
@@zilchde3554 You should be using a talisman with the unfaltering prayer weapon art allowing you to cast the spell with the talisman's weapon art, see text at 0:54

@@SleepMoover okay I couldn't resist and gave it a quick shot (while being tired). I can't get the timing right because my champ is drinking the Estus, but SOMETHING happens since after that I can't change the spell - it's the homeward spell until I use it. So I think it's a timing thing or I'm not that well with the input overall. Will try furthermore, it has to work with some exercise

I'm just wondering because you specifically state boss souls. Idk if that's because it's more lucrative to do it with boss souls or if you're only able to do it with boss souls.

Ive seen some comments saying that this isn't working on the Fire Fades Edition, can you confirm if it's working in this version too, please? I'm not getting the animation, I think that I'm doing it right.
All editions are the same if they're up to date, so the only difference would be if you're playing in from disk without internet, at which point the patch version the game was released with could change some things. However from what we've tested, this works in all previous patches too so even it shouldn't be an issue...

Oooh, I've tried a lot of times, really really a lot. I'm sure that I'm doing it correctly, my character only drinks the Estus after doing all the process. I'm still not getting the weird animation. It's because the spell, probably?, in your video you recommend to use any spell but you are using the Homeward, I'm using the Heal Aid. Any advice?
@@ericfabiani3867 The any spell part only applies to the first cast when you queue the boss soul, the 2nd cast needs to be homeward spell cast with the unfaltering prayer WA (L2) of a talisman

If you can upload a clip of an attempt that's the easiest way to see what's wrong, hard to say without it but I'd imagine the estus is being consumed too late

Example being only leveling up one stat, sekiro is my favourite because I don’t have to do shit I just pretend I can’t level up my health and posture while playing no kuros charm & demon bell for maximum pain!😂

Unfortunately not. If you dont have access to the spell however, Elo's channel has a few versions that work with bows instead.

@SleepMoover idk what it is but I'm doing it step by step and once I get to the final point of clicking x on the estus in my toolbelt it does the soul consuming animation and consumes the boss soul permanently

i am following the steps i can do the pivot step then roll but when holding L2 i either wont get the animation or i will get it but will get the homeward pop up and cant use estus in toolbar at same time I am also offline but still no success
@@at0miz8 The manual pressing of start will prevent the homeward menu from appearing just need to open it slightly earlier

For this one it was a lot of just trying to break item usage as much as possible through already known glitches and then tryin to piece togeteher different ideas and combinations in those broken states that could potentioally produce intereting results.

@SleepMoover Yeah, I checked and it does work on PS4, but it is kinda difficult to do and very inconsistent because of the quick window of inputs. So, I found another method to do this, the method I found is based upon Elo's video where he explains that any animation can be used for this glitch like rolling, or backstepping. so, I thought that any lever or the lever on the tower of Anor londo, which I use, could be useful to do this glitch. So, I equipped a bow then spam square and x at the same time to get the prompt to use the soul, while rotating the lever and selecting YES this process gave me a lot of time to prepare for the next step, when the lever would be almost complete rotating, I would spam the circle and HOLD L2 mid-roll and finally simply select estus in the quick toolbar to successfully do this glitch and this is very easy and only requires a bow.

@@jashan3745 Forgot to respond to this but yeah that's quite a smart solution you found. A little slow without access to anor londo but maybe there is another interact or similar in the game that can be continuesly queued out of.

It's very luck based but far less accidental than you might think. It's a lot of combining previously known glitches and trying to discover new interactions. Everyone glitch hunts differently but bugs like these are rarely if ever just a random event in normal play.
I must've done the glitch wrong. I did as instructed, got the timing down, but it consumed the boss soul entirely when I consumed the estus 🤣
Edit: Just did again and it consumed the other one as well. It must've been patched or luck is not on my side. I did the same thing as instructed and got it perfectly but no dice. I am willing to share a video of it if you have a Discord

I sent a friend request. I think I did the role wrong. I held L2 and the movement during the roll as I quickly opened up the tool belt to consume the estus

I think I have figured it out. It is when you only click L2 + movement command it consumes the soul

The only time it happened in the past years is when they were fixing RCE which was literally dangerous to your pc
