Great comment. I couldn't agree more. He has an appreciation for not just the musicianship but also for the vocals, the showmanship, the choreography, and the overall production. He doesn't miss much, if anything. Arigatou!
Excellent reaction and analysis. 'Syncopation' was a Japan exclusive track on the second album (so it dates back to 2016). The international release had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead. I was fortunate to have been at Brixton, London the first time they played this live outside of Japan. The crowd went wild when we heard the heartbeats and realised what we were about to hear. Su-metal said she was so surprised that everybody there already knew the song as it had never been released in any form outside of Japan.
"Syncopation" is a song from BABYMETAL's second studio album, METAL RESISTANCE. The song was only released on the Japanese versions of the album, the rest of the world would get "From Dusk Till Dawn" on the international release. "FDTD" has only been played live only three times unfortunately because it showcases how incredible versatile Su's vocal talents are, I suggest reacting to it, it's a feast for both eyes and ears.
I am always surprised how much you hear from all parts at first listen of a song. Its like I really hear the song for the first when I hear your comments.
The most slept on Babymetal song! Will always be like a top 2 Babymetal song for me fighting with Road of Resistance! Everything just hits; amazing guitars, great vocals, breakdowns, solos, riffs, harmonies, drum fills etc. All of it... Perfect!
Syncopation is one (another one) of my favorite BM songs. I loved your analysis and breakdown of all the layers of the instruments and the performances. Spot on! I think I could listen to this song ten times every day and never get tired of it!
Your reactions to Babymetal just put a smile on my face. You expressed so well what I personally feel. Babymetal has always been amazing and incredibly consistent. The skill and professionalism exhibited by BM when they were merely teens never ceases to blow my mind. But the level of performance perfection they have arrived at now is somehow uniquely Babymetal. I can watch these recent performances time after time and just find myself sitting with my mouth open smiling. Thanks for these great reactions. Always a highlight for me when I see you've posted.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Syncopation" reminds me, an aged Japanese, of good old songs to which I listened decades ago at home sitting in front of TV set. BABYMETAL, however, gave a new power to this type of song. It does not sound obsolete anymore, at all. That is one of the magics they have incorporating premeditated artistry with contemporary physical moves. I witnessed this very performance at the venue. Once the heartbeat intro got started, my heartbeat went faster and faster. And then the song started just before my heart was overheated to stop 😄 . Our Kami Band in the girls' back is great. The musicians with virtuosity, Chris (g), CJ (g), Anthony (d), Clint (b) [occasionally Ryan (b)] have been dedicating their energy to BABYMETAL's international activities (including Japan) long and extensive enough to be called as "our band". They are amazing knights to protect our queen and princesses.❤ (Of course I love original Japanese Kamis. So I go to see concerts by Kari Band, soLi and etc. where I could see them play.)

Great review and analysis! This is an amazing song about the feeling of uneasiness and excitement from love. The technicality behind the music you discussed absolutely magnifies that emotion portrayed by Su’s amazing vocals and the choreography from Moa and Momo. And only with Babymetal do we see circle pits to a love song 🤣. Amazing! 🤘🦊
@@jarongeil-vocalcovers2484 Haha, Japanese crowds are amazing! Also, since you enjoy a good technical breakdown of the instrumentals, you should absolutely check out the following *YAVA! I already gave you a thumbs up, but it is not enough to express how much I appreciate your reactions and your insights in what makes the songs work so well
💕 ⚡ 🍑 / 🎶 💕 A killer high energy track. Pretty much a flawless blend of guitars and vocals. This is what producer Koba said in a 2016 interview: Q: Of all the songs in this album wouldn’t you say that ‘Syncopation’ has the most Japanese feel to it? Kobametal: Yes, I would agree to that. And that is why on the overseas edition we put a different song in its place. On the Japanese edition we wanted to present an ever more Japanese quality to it and so this song was included. On the overseas edition in place of ‘Syncopation’ we have instead included the song ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’. (As it turns out, Western audiences love this song as well.)
Syncopation is a top song for me personally, another great song to check out is Yava, they performed it live in 2024 at legend MM which sounded amazing but I also like their performance/s from the 2017 fox festival which has the eastern Kami band
This is one that took a while to grow on me but is now one of my favorites of theirs. I love how Su's vocals have that 'soaring' feel in many places, love that second breakdown, love the little break right after it where all the instruments cut out and there's just a quick crescendo from a vocal synth for a second...it's a great song, such good energy. Pity they never released it as a single, it definitely deserves more recognition along with YAVA! from the same album.
I told you man. I told you! Syncopation is my favorite Babymetal song. ever! Simply and absolutely Perfect! No more words!! Great react again, Kitsune. If you want to let your head explode, I recommend that you watch "iine" live, 3 different styles in one song. It's just crazy. See you! 🤟🦊🇯🇵🔥🔥🔥

As much as I like the western Kamiband, I personally much prefer the Japanese Kamiband, especially when they play this song, it somehow has a different feel to it, and Su has told us “Don’t Think, Feel” so I take that approach to all their songs. 🤘
Even though Monochrome is my personal favourite, i would still agree with someone if they insisted this was their best song. Written by Norimetal and arranged by Megmetal. It's more like a type of sped-up rock than any known metal genre. You don't know if to head bang or pull a stank face and strut around to it lol. Nobody should ever give this less than a 9 or 10 if they have ears.
@@Hymnodic It probably is, but the term metalcore as a genre confuses me, as a lot of things get called that but sound different, and adding progressive usually means 'not the same as it normally is' lol. I just slowed the tempo down by 10% and the music sounded like it could be a Band-maid track, (the verses and chorus parts) and the rythm definitely has a rock n' roll feel to it.
@@Ryujin170 Metalcore evolved out of hardcore music, with later adding the more melodic post-hardcore, with modern metalcore incorporating electronic elements as it deviated itself from its roots. It also started absorbing even more melodic nature with the melodic riffs coming from melodic death. The progressive infusion into metalcore brought non-standard song structure, musical elements, complex riffs into the mix. Syncopation sounds like something that would not feel out of place with Periphery.
IIRC, they said that this song might be too Japanese for the Western market, so they decided to release it exclusively in Japan. To be honest, I don't understand why they would think that, and it seems like I'm not alone, as many fans name this as their favourite song. Although I find it hard to choose an absolute favourite, it's at least top three for me as well. As a guitarist, I find both of these two short solos pretty perfect, both technically as well as melodically. Personally, I find them even better when they are played by Ohmura, though (one of the guitarists of the Eastern Kami Band).
I don't get it either. Koba is mainly a genius who should just be left to get on with it, but occasionally he makes some inexplicable decisions. He should have left this song and FDTD on Metal Resistance; it would then be their best album without much argument. Also, not putting either BxMxC or BBAB on non-Japanese editions of Metal Galaxy always bugged me. He should have left BxMxC off both editions (and have it as an exclusive for 10 Babymetal Years) and have Oh Majini and BBAB as the swap-out tracks; we get OM and the Japanese get BBAB. Also not giving The Other One album a proper 'metal' name bugged me at first ('Metal Dimension' would have been my choice), but maybe he was right. The bigger, more controversial decisions he makes, I'm more diplomatic about; it's the little things that bug me. lol Rant over.😅
