I've listened back and you're right it is a B. B flat sounds more natural to me though so my ears were hearing what they wanted to hear rather than what was actually happening...
This is such a sick video. The Cure's basslines are underrated. Yeah everyone knows "A Forest" but the bass playing really influences the music and SImon is underrated. Perhaps a bit of a tangent, but the bassline is what makes "Circles" by Post Malone such a good song. I don't like most of his stuff but I could totally see Robert/Simon coming up with that bassline for Circles.
The Cure is my favorite band for sure. I've always loved the bass line from Last Dance the most but these are incredible as well! There are just too many good songs by The Cure!
@@sadboybassriffs9722 I have to agree. I don't think we'll ever see another masterpiece like Disintegration again. You play incredibly well. Perhaps we can get more bassline videos of The Cure's songs? Last Dance, Like Cockatoos, and Burn are some of the lesser known but amazing bass lines as well. Keep up the amazing playing!
I was about to buy my first electric guitar, but this video made me fall in love with the low end switch to bass. Excellent choice of songs from my favorite band, I can't wait to start practicing! Could you please tell me which model do you play here? Thanks!
@@Boxerlbc Thanks, I was thinking about getting a Fender Squier for myself! BTW, upon closer look, I think that the guitar in the video might be Schecter Ultra Bass.
Thank you, too! Might I ask what made you choose this particular model? I was thinking about buying a Fender Precission or Fender Jazz bass, but somehow these classic designs do not speak to me. Schecter Ultra Bass looks quite slim and compact in comparison. Plus, I've just found out that Simon Gallup has been using one during his live performances for the past decade and there is even his signature version available.
I can't remember exactly what settings I had on my preamp but it's definitely scooped mids with chorus and overdrive for some of them. There's an interview with Simon Gallup where he says his graphic EQ is basically a V shape.
Piggy in the Mirror has such great basslines too
Those are great! "Sinking" and "Icing Sugar" are two of my favorite Cure baselines as well. "Screw" is another Cure track with a killer baseline.
Nice songs. Nice cover. Nice sad face. 10/10
Nice comment. 11/10
No one can create a mood like Simon Gallup…
Simon is the man
This is great! Isn't it a B at the end of the phrase on Cut rather than the B flat? An excuse to go listen to it loud...

Congratulations! I I love that bassline from Open.
Thank you man

Nice playing man. I always loved the ‘another journey by train’ bass line.
A Foolish Arrangment bassline is great too.
Great work! This has inspired me to have a go at a few of these
Great to hear mate
Fantastico gran giro di basso 👏👏👏🎸🎸🎵🎵🎵
Grazie

Last Dance is a great track. Disintegration is my favourite album

Nice job! Good playin, good song choices.
Thank you mate
Good job!👍 You play a beautiful Schecter bass!!! I m guitarist and i use The Schecter Ultracure (last version with bigsby ) 😁
Thanks Damien!
Very well done. The cure are more dark and fabulous than people will ever know. What do you think?
Amazing! Love The Cure 🖤
Same
Nice and thanks 😍. Just one thing, i think the last note of Cut riff is not good 😉
great selection here, love it
Thank you man!

Not sure the model but the fender squires rock pretty hard and have a comfortable shape

@@Ado101SK Yeah this is a Schecter Ultra bass
Thank you so much that's probably the best compliment I could receive

Amazing!!
Thank you!
You didn't get to the bridge in Sinking, my favorite part of the baseline. Such a great change
Yeah, a big error in my judgement. I rushed it with Sinking and wish I had included that second part
Another favorite is Screw from Head On The Door
I love The Cure but Screw doesn't do it for me I can't lie
do you think you could post tabs of these?
Simon Gallup is a king
You're not wrong
really nice love it!
Open!
I always get confused between what is a baseline or a fender 6 with cure albums
Don't question. Just enjoy.
fascination street!!!
that's one of my favourites but there's a lot of covers already like I say in the description ;)
@@sadboybassriffs9722 thanks for doing this! can you do a full version of open? you're the only person i've watched who did it CLEAN hahaha
Unless I'm mistaken, the current line up hasn't played Cut live...I would have thought Reeves would be all over it!
To be fair they have so much material to choose from that some songs will be overlooked
On Open, is the bottom E tuned to D?
Cracking work Sir.
Yes it is
You even look a bit like Simon Gallup haha, nice video!
I can't see it but maybe I just need to have massive hair
Wow
